You are probably right that the Defendant is saying whatever and is lying. My problem is that I have seen enough police lying and enough ignoble prosecutors that I do not "automatically" believe the so-called good guys and "automatically" disbelieve the alleged criminals.
As I suggested to the other freeper, do a net search on "testilying" and get yourself a first hand view of how prevalent the problem is.
