CA: Governor thanks O.C. business donors - New Majority members and potential recruits gather

NEWPORT BEACH – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger met in Newport Beach on Monday with about 200 members and potential recruits of the New Majority to thank the group of wealthy Republican businesspeople for its support.

He also stumped for his $222.6 billion public works plan, which would revamp roads, schools, levees and other infrastructure critical to keeping California running, said several businessmen who attended the Islands Hotel luncheon.

"It was low-key," said Tom Tucker, a Newport Beach venture capitalist and co-founder of the New Majority, of the 45-minute speech and question-and-answer session.

Tucker said the governor's message "played especially well because he was saying thank you" for what amounts to $12 million in New Majority support for Schwarzenegger and his initiatives, most of it from the Orange County members. "He made his case for change and that he's an agent of change and that he's a centrist," Tucker said.

To call this group Republican is more than just a wee bit of a stretch when you find they support a Pro-Choice, Pro-Gun Control, Pro-GLBT and Pro-Green agenda, for starters.

The New Majority and the Wilsonegger clique are key reasons the Ca GOP is dying a slow death on the vine.

You will see their supporters and agents here extolling the virtues of Republicanism and conservatism all the while actually being more supportive of a liberal agenda rather than a conservative one.

Their motto.. "Just Win, Baby!! Don't sweat the details!"

That they have attempted to cut the grassroots roots off and out of the politicial process in the Ca GOP, that it's hard to distinguish them or their candidates from their "opponents".

They support proposed massive borrowing and hiked spending levels and raising the minimum wage.

The Big Tent is in order, i guess, as we need all the room we can get for all the Rinos and Trojan horses that seem to be the rage lately in the Ca GOP and GOP in general..

Did we forget something?. Here's the second, most relevant point in the article. Relevant because it reports where the Austrian will be and where he won't be on Wednesday:

Schwarzenegger is to be back in Orange County on Wednesday to meet Lincoln Club members in Costa Mesa.

Sounds to me that the gang has the bonding deal wrapped up. I think calcowgirl already has a pool going on who is going to cave in the Assembly and Dan is certain that McCarthy and Maldonado are the two weak links in the Senate.

Wave goodbye to pay-as-you-go until after the primary. Just say NO appears to have broad appeal in the next election cycle but they'll be back.

Actually Dan suggested Maldonado and Ackerman. McCarthy is in the Assembly (for just a few more months).

"To call this group Republican is more than just a wee bit of a stretch..."

Especially since this gaggle of wealthy geese are nothing more than a pack of liberals who have found it politically expedient to call themselves Republicans.

Orange County conservatives detest them for what they are--moneyed, elitist, silk sock country club RINOs who wouldn't recognize a conservative principle if one bit them in the ass.

Good to see them allied with Arnold the Centrist. They will receive no support from conservatives.

Many would give their eye teeth to know the identity of 75 new recruits but that information is not a state secret.

There is a 100% chance that every one of those 75, potential donors will directly benefit from massive, infrastructure development.

Those 75 weren't invited by a rigorous selection process. They beat down the New Majority's front door in a frenzied rush to get their hands on a good part of the public treasury that the gang will soon dole out ... to their friends and a few select enemies.

As a result, those democrats abandoned their party and now want to take over ours.
