The Illegal Alien Gold Card (guest worker program for illegal immigrants)

THE ILLEGAL ALIEN GOLD CARD

I'm not making this up:

Key provisions of the Senate's main immigration bill would create a "gold card" program for illegal immigrants who entered the United States before Jan. 4, 2004, and create a guest worker program to bring in more foreign laborers, according to Senate Judiciary Committee staff members.

The committee is to begin debating the measure Wednesday under a three-week timetable aimed at producing a final version for the full Senate by March 27.

Sponsored by the committee chairman, Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., the legislation is designed to strike a middle course between a bill passed by the House that calls for tougher immigration enforcement and the wishes of pro-immigration advocates who call for permanent legal status -- and eventual citizenship -- for an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants.

President Bush, defying objections from conservatives, has called for an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws and the creation of a temporary guest worker program to ensure a steady source of labor for U.S. businesses. Under Bush's plan, qualified workers, including residents now living here illegally, could stay in jobs for up to six years, then would be required to return home.

Committee staff members, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said applicants for the gold card would undergo a background check by the Homeland Security Department, then be eligible for two-year work visas that could be renewed indefinitely.

The Stein Report learned of a briefing on the program yesterday:

In a move to build support for Bush's guest worker amnesty plan, administration officials talked about how they would actually implement the program. Jaws dropped as the administration reps explained the centerpiece of the program, a "Gold Card" that would enable illegal aliens to enter the U.S. at will, and work at any job with no labor market or other tests needed but would deny them citizenship. "Gold Card" would be valid forever, similar to current "Green Cards" but illegal aliens holding a "Gold Card" would not be able to adjust their status through naturalization.

For those deluded enough to think that the Department of Homeland Security would be able to competently conduct the background checks and police abuse of this massive amnesty plan, I point you to yesterday's post.

The cluelessness of Beltway elite Republicans continues to amaze. If you thought the port deal was a P.R disaster, just wait.

Gold card. For crying out loud.

If I hear one more congresscritter talk a bout a safe and sane immigration plan I'm going to scream. They seem to think that the number illegals who receive ammnesty is directly related to how "safe and sane" it is.

At 71, O’Kelly clearly remembers a Georgia in which legal laborers were allowed an opportunity to make a wage on which they could live in Georgia with dignity without taxpayers being forced to help finance their care. Not a popular memory these days in many quarters.
Using the old adage “follow the money,” it was not that difficult to see that most of those supporting the continued violation of the law had a vested financial interest in continued access to what can only be described as the taxpayer-subsidized black market labor — and the market they create.

There is but one way to put a stop to this give-a-way of our country: contact each and every member of Congress and warn them that they will not only get your vote in 2006 but in each and every future election, should they win, you will donate to as many primary challengers as necessary until they lose their seat.

That is the only thing that a voter can do as these vermin listen more to the business community than to the voters who elected them. Losing their vaunted seat in the power elite in DC is the single thing that they fear most of all.

I am beginning to believe that they are busily lining their pockets every year that they serve so as to live in the style of princes and kings.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with legal immigration. Nothing whatsoever.

It's the illegal pouring over the border crap that has freaking got to stop.

Ok this what I dont get. There has got to be a compromise on this. We need these hispanic MExican workers. If this is a security issue how else would we do it. I mean let suppose we build the "fence". Now to get that passed we compromise and allow alot of these illegals to now become legal workers. Once wrong with a card? Isnt id a good thing? Thats what I just dont get. Or is the issue to many we dont want Mexicans workers here at all because since they are here they depress wages. Just curious

Under this proposal by the President, an illegal alien is rewarded with a change in status to "guest worker" for six years then "would be required to return home".

Required to return home by whom? This IS amnesty that President Bush said he would not support. Are these rewarded illegal aliens going to be required to pay taxes, FICA etc. ? I didn't think so.

"would be required to return home".

They are already required to return home. By what force would they be required to return home after six more years and six babies?

And just try to get into Mexico or try to get a job there.
Will Fox be issuing gold cards too?

I don't think he's lost his mind. He fully knows what he is proposing. His vision of globalism is defined quite well in the Free Trade Area of the Americas.

If this repulsive proposal makes it into the final House/Senate conference report, then you and I will see an invasion of illegals like no other at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Folks, we are now at entering the Bastogne of our countries history. All I can say in response to the supposed law abiding Republican power brokers is

Nuts !!!

Just follow the money from the large corporal entities (mostly the banks) that believe the country is already insolvent and can only be sustained by hiring foreigners (cheap labor). Just follow the money from the governments agencies that need to have truly dependent followers to sustain there bureaucratic game. Real independent Americans would rather most of these agencies go bye-bye.

No, we don't. Have you seen the Pew Hispanic Center article posted today? ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1591794/posts ) In each of three of the four labor categories where illegal immigrant employment is highest (house/office cleaning, food service, and construction) they account for less than 18% of all workers in that category. In the biggest - agriculture - they account for only one in four workers.

I will take a look at it. I will esp be interested if they have figures as to illegal workers as to individual States and regions. FOr instance what is the percentage in areas that are booming versus areas like lets say Vermont that is having now a outward migration problem among its youth.

Furthermore what kind of Agricultural work. I suppose my family are classifyed as farm workers even though they own the farm for instance. However one person now with the help of just one or two workers can farm a pretty substantial area of cotton rice and soybeans. However once you get into such items as produce it becomes quite a different story. THe family down the road from my Uncle could not for instance survive in the Sweet Potato farming sector if he didnt have them harvesting. But I will take a look at it. I am open on this.

I really do question whether or not the Dems and media have been right all along about the intelligence level of our Pres. I defended him for a long time, and was very happy and hopeful to see him elected both times. But, on this issue, it is hard to label him anything other than another elitist, globalist, politician. I know alot of people here view him as this higher form of being, capable of doing no wrong, but he is dead wrong on this issue, and the country will pay dearly for his mistakes.

I'm a practicing Catholic who lives in Los Angeles. I detest Cardinal Mahony, but I assure you that what motivates him to speak out "courageously" in favor of Mexican illegal aliens has zero to do with money and everything to do with his own ego. Mahony doesn't give a damn if he bankrupts the Archdiocese; look at the horrible Cathedral he spent millions building! All mahony cares about is making himself look like some kind of liberal saint.
