I don't see anything wrong with any of that. I do see something wrong in an all or nearly all middle class mostly white Americans who can elect to learn Spanish in that same school, having to have Spanish 'emersion' classes. Am I wrong?
Her whole plan is a joke. Putting the NG at the ports is a waste anyway you look at it. There is not need for them at the ports. They need to help the BP in the desert, not us Officers at the Ports.
No argument from me. States, counties, and cities should not need to spend ANY tax dollars to round up illegals and those that employ them. The federal government is tasked with border enforcement, and wage/labor law. In theory.
In fact, it has never worked that well. States must deal with the crime, healthcare, and education costs. Do you have a proposal to better use manpower and resources?
This 10 million will not result in the arrest of one illegal or the seizure of any forbidden items. She wants to put the NG at the Ports, where they are not needed, so they can free up the BP, which don't work at the Ports.
The whole thing is a joke.
IIRC Fat Billy did something similar here in New Mexico a year or so ago.
Turned out to be guard units were going to be training in area anyway so his staff just re-wrote the lead on the press release as though only Gov Richardson stood fast against the flood of illegals threatening the American way of life.
Something like that - maybe some other NM FReepers can remember more of the details.
A person could become cynical.
Yes. Have the NG assist the BP and not the port officers.
The NG can transport and process the illegals, while the BP can concentrate on catching them.

I believe that you are correct. My map of Arizona does not show any seaports. I do not believe that the governor of Arizona has the authority to send the Arizona National Guard to another state, unless formally requested. This article indicates that the AZ Guard will stay in AZ. What port officers are you referring to?
You spelled it all out - the ONLY way to cut this down is to put real teeth into the laws that will punish the American traitors that draw the low-cost labor up here to line their pockets.
She's a smart politician, looks like.
That's the problem. It's all a game to her. She could care less about AZ, she's got her sites set higher.
---"I am a lifelong Republican... but I will vote for anybody who shuts down illegal immigration at the border."
And he is not the only one I can tell you. The thing that AMAZES ME, is the Rep's can be SO STUPID to let this issue go to the Dems. Napolitano is a good example of someone is doing this and I can tell you no sissy Republican is going to beat her. ---
Does anybody actually read the articles? She's calling for more troops on the border while vetoing a Republican bill to fund it. This is nothing but an election year ploy.
OK, I understand. Again, I do not know a lot about Arizona's ports; but Texas has truckloads of humans and contraband come right through the ports (land) every day. For the life of me, I do not know why CBP allows them through. Oh, wait. There is a whole bunch of $$$ to be made smuggling humans and contraband. I do not think we should stop all border trade, and build a useless wall. I do think that improvement can be made, even at the crossings/ports.
This dooms the effort from the start. I'll bet the rules of engagement don't even undertake the return of fire when attacked. I say when for a reason. Those poor troops. They get to kick Iraqi A$$ but are hamstrung by our government when it comes to actual national defense.
If the illegals weren't here, either the work wouldn't get done b/c it isn't worth paying enough to get Americans to compete for the jobs, or the pay would rise to an attractive "market" level. I heard a guy bleating to Rush one day that he "couldn't get good employees." The problem was, he couldn't get "good employees" for what he hoped/wanted to pay them...
Labor is just one aspect of this. Human decency is also important, IMHO. The ruthless exploitation by the coyotes, gangs, and smugglers is a factor. The US should exert much more pressure on Mexican government to stabilize their economy. "Tough friendship". The current relationship is not reciprocal. Human rights violations by previous and current Mexican regimes are ignored. America is a pressure relief valve for lousy, corrupt Mexican policy.
Ummmmmm IIRC, Bill Clinton admitted that the reason ALGORE lost was those durn single issue GUN NUTS & the NRA. Gore lost Tennessee (his "own" state -- a first for a Presidential candidate in this century); he lost West-by-God Virginia, which hasn't gone republican in like 50 years and where the first day of deer season is a state school holiday! So forget Florida, had Gore won EITHER of the other two, it'd have put him over the top. Those durn gun nuts!
Well, maybe we should be and take back the territory those b%$^$%%^$^$%^astards took from us, plus the Tijuana cathouses on top of that! Then we can really start having...
