Rendell - not big in the self control department apparently. I forgot; he's a Democrat so he doesn't have to be.

No, because this seems to be an inside PA Democratic politics thing -- perhaps tied to key donors. I'd guess that reporter Lieberman interviewed Rendell at the AIPAC convention in DC.

Imagine the fracas that would erupt if Pres. Bush snatched a reporter's recorder. It would be reported on the news non-stop for the next 10 months with calls from the Dems for impeachment.

You beat me to it with that post!

I'm wondering if maybe Rendell is a little testy because he knows he has a tough race on his hands. Imagine the embarrassment to him, and the party he once chaired, if he is defeated by a Republican who happens to be black.

Fast Eddie seems to be getting a bit fat. He must be Big Mac & fries dining a'la Clintoon during those 100MPH turnpike runs.

The Tony Soprano of PA politics. He's an asshole and a thug

Yeah, but he eats 7 cheesesteaks at one sitting, drives from the capital of Philadelphia to that Harrisburg town (whereever that is. Probably in the "redneck" part of the state...) at over 95 mph, and roots for the Iggles! He's even part of the Iggles Post-Game Live show on local cable! He's a thug for the PEOPLE!!! Can I get a chant for Fast Eddie, Governor Cheesesteak? "E-A-G-L-E-S...EAGLES!!!"

The end of the article:

Rendell has been involved in other confrontations with reporters, including grabbing the neck of a Philadelphia Inquirer reporter in May 1994 when he was the city's mayor. Philadelphia Daily News columnist Gar Joseph, in a Friday item entitled "Rendell 6, reporters 0," cites five other alleged physical confrontations with reporters from the Inquirer or Daily News.

In February 1999, the Daily News also reported that Rendell grasped a reporter's notebook after becoming angry during an interview.
