Slobodan Milosevic wrote a six-page letter the day before he was found dead, claiming that traces of a heavy drug had been found in his blood and that he feared being poisoned, a legal aide to the former Yugoslav president said today.
Zdenko Tomanovic showed the letter to reporters at the UN tribunal, and complained that the court which had been trying Milosevic rejected the familys request that a post mortem be conducted outside the Netherlands.
Milosevic was seriously concerned about being poisoned, Tomanovic said.
The letter, dated March 10, was addressed to the Russian Embassy. A one-line English language cover note asked the embassy to forward the letter to the Russian foreign minister.
Milosevic had appealed to the war crimes tribunal last December to be allowed to go to a heart clinic in Moscow for treatment. The request was denied. He repeated the request as late as last month.
Milosevic underwent frequent medical examinations by doctors and specialists appointed by the tribunal and by Serb doctors brought at his own request. Detailed reports were routinely submitted to the judges.
The letter alleged that a powerful drug used to treat leprosy or tuberculosis had been found in his blood during an examination on January 12, Tomanovic said.
They would like to poison me, the lawyer quoted Milosevic as telling him.
Reading a sentence from an English translation of the letter, Tomanovic said: In any case, the persons who are giving me the drug for the treatment of leprosy surely cannot be treating me, and especially those persons from whom I defended my country in the war and who also have an interest in silencing me.
The Belgrade lawyer described the drug as an antibiotic, but said he couldnt remember the name. Milosevic had never knowingly taken such a drug, Tomanovic claimed.
Tomanovic said he saw the jailed Serb leader on Friday at 4:30pm. His body was found the next morning, and by 11am the letter was delivered to the Russian Embassy.

Cause of Milosevic's death remains uncertain

BRUSSELS, March 12 (Xinhuanet) -- The cause of Slobodan Milosevic's sudden death on Saturday remains unknown after a Dutch forensic team failed to determine it, UN war crimes tribunal president Fausto Pocar said Sunday.
"Because the Dutch coroners who examined Slobodan Milosevic were unable to establish a cause of death, an autopsy was ordered without delay, as required under Dutch law," the tribunal president said in a statement.
The body of the former Yugoslav president has been moved to the NFI Dutch medical-legal institute for the autopsy, which was set to begin at 1200 GMT on Sunday.
"The Registrar has requested that a full report of the Dutch authorities' investigation be forwarded to the Tribunal as quickly as possible," Fausto Pocar said.
Mirjana Markovic, wife of Milosevic, accused The Hague tribunal of killing her husband. Milosevic's elder brother Borislav said in Moscow that the tribunal must be held responsible for his brother's death.
The authorities hope the autopsy will put to rest claims that Milosevic was murdered.
Milosevic, 64, was found dead Saturday in his cell at the UN detention unit in Scheveningen near The Hague. He suffered a heart trouble and high blood pressure that had repeatedly interrupted his trial in The Hague. Enditem

Milosevic might have committed suicide: Del Ponte
Mar 12, 2006 By Nicola Leske
THE HAGUE (Reuters) - The chief UN war crimes prosecutor said on Sunday it was possible Slobodan Milosevic had committed suicide and his death made it all the more urgent to catch others blamed for the horrors of the Balkan wars.
UN prosecutor Carla del Ponte said the former Yugoslav president might have wanted to thwart the impending verdict in his marathon war crimes trial, which she said she expected to be one of guilty, followed by a life sentence.
She noted it was the second death in a week at the Hague tribunal's detention center. Former Croatian Serb leader Milan Babic took his own life last Sunday.
--------
Zdenko Tomanovic, Milosevic's lawyer, said his client had written to Russia asking for help just a day before his death, stating he had been given the wrong drugs including drugs for leprosy in an attempt to silence him.
------------
Leo Bokeria, head of the Bakulev Cardio-Vascular Surgery Center in Moscow, told Russian television that doctors treating Milosevic in The Hague had suspected he was secretly spitting out the medicines for high blood pressure they gave him.
"They carried out tests to check for the presence of the medicine in his bloodstream because they thought that he was hiding it in his cheeks," Bokeria said. Last month the court rejected a request by Milosevic to go to Russia for treatment, saying specialists could come to The Hague.
From an AP story:
"...Doctors found traces of the drug when they were searching for an answer to why Milosevic's medication for high blood pressure was not working, the report said..."

You are referring to the fact that Slobo supeoned Clinton to testify and would have brought up certain shall we say Middle Eastern ties Clinton had that he had used against Serbia I am assuming?

The UN way of committing "suicide" (in the sleep?) - just like commies "siucided" Jan Masaryk when he "jumped" out of the window and closed it behind him. Yea, we need UN and international "law" and there will be peace and harmony into eeeeethernity, seriesly! (Lies) developing as grudge would say.
It reminds me Russian joke:
One man had four wives who all died. A colleague in the office asked him, "Why did your first wife die?
"Mushroom poisoning."
"And the second?"
"Mushroom poisoning."
"And the third?"
"Mushroom poisoning."
"And the fourth?"
"Concussion."
"???"
"Didn't want to eat mushrooms."
EU (and in part UN) is being taken over by Mensheviks. After their ideologival cousins - Bolsheviks failed, the time came for the other faction.
The results of autopsy were decided BEFORE the autopsy. Same as the VERDICT was decided BEFORE the trial.
They do murder right in plain sight.
Wasn't Wesley Clark being called to testify at this trial ..??
I'm just wondering if this is another death to add to the Clinton death list .. Hmmmmm..??
Or maybe he just died of a heart attack? Even with high blood pressure he was still chain smoking. He wasn't exactly helping the situation with his health.
And is it 100% positively proved? The findings of the autopsy are to be independantly witnessed. You seem to have it all sewn up that he was killed intentionally?
