Update 14: Report: Drug Traces Found in Milosevic

AP

03.12.2006, 01:46 PM

Traces of a drug used to treat leprosy and tuberculosis were found in a blood sample taken in recent months from former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, a Dutch news report said, citing an unidentified "adviser" to the U.N. war crimes tribunal.

The report came hours after Milosevic's legal adviser showed journalists a letter the late Serb leader wrote Friday, one day before his body was discovered in prison, alleging that he was being poisoned.

The report was on the text service of the Dutch state broadcaster, NOS. It did not identify its source further.

Doctors found traces of the drug when they were searching for an answer to why Milosevic's medication for high blood pressure was not working, the report said.

I do not support Milosevic - I am against the UN Court and for giving Slobo a fair trail.

You are on the other hand a UN Court pimp. The UN's useful idiot.

On top of that you are dishonest/liar.

I never once said Clinton should go to the Hague as a defendant. I don't want the UN to have the power to charge anyone.

But you don't care about truth - you seek to silence discussion and throw out distractions, lies and insults.

U.S. killed more Japanese in one bomb drop (Hiroshima - about 140,000) to end the war than the entire Balkans wars of the 1990's - less than 100,000 for Bosnia, 10-20 thousand for Croatia (mostly Serbs), and 2-3 thousand in Kosovo (mostly KLA and Serbian police and soldiers).

Thanks for the ping!

I believe this is another case of getting rid of the person who can cause you harm - and wasn't it Bill Clinton who stated, "I believe it's okay to kill people who want to harm you".

Wesley (weasel) Clark - could have spilled all the beans if he had been forced to testify. Only solution .. make the trial go away.

it is sad to see how FR devolves into fairly spiteful posts and name-calling when a thread like this is posted. Regardless of a person's views on the serbian bombing campaign, milosevik and the various atrocities committed or allegedly committed by both sides (albanian and serb), etc., it should be fairly disturbing that a political prisoner is arbitrarily denied health care by the provider of choice (russia) and when he dies a month later, no non-UN controlled autopsy will be performed, which is going to leave conspiracy theorists with some valid reasons to doubt whatever they are told.

I don't care if it is stalin himself being held, the possible murder or murder through medical negligence of prisoners due to the difficulty of a successful prosecution is not the way things need to work. I know there are folks who think it is ok, but letting an unaccountable body like the WCT get away with this only emboldens it.

I assume we will be told this was an accidental medicinal interaction that killed him.

I fully expect the full Jack Nicholson treatment on this one. Our political rulers will graciously avoid the truth since it is well established that we are unable to handle it. It would just be too, too hard on us.

So. Did they decide to poison him for fear they couldn't convict? The ultimate kangaroo court.

This kangaroo court has done the worst thing for their side, they have martyred Milosevic.

Stepping into Destro's shoes, are we? Good for you.

And you are trying to step into Fusion shoes? It might be difficult as Fusion had poetic talent.

Your commie hero died (suicide). Deal with it.

Today they poison a Commie, tomorrow they might poison you.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
   because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
   because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
   because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
   because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
   and there was no one left to speak out for me.
