I can't believe they still hold the Oscar ceremony, let alone televise them. They're even dumber than beauty pageants and Rose Bowl parades.

I think a movie about Walter Duranty, the New York Times Pulitzer Prize winning apologist for the 1930s Soviet Union, would be a great topic for a movie. (He Lied, Millions Died as a working title).

Some people place too much importance on the film industry and pop culture in general.

Yeah, like Clarence Page. He should be embarassed to have written this:

...it says something quite positive about the progress of this country's common culture that a movie as edgy about race and ethnicity as Crash would be viewed as a "safe" choice.

The hogswill produced by Hollywood says NOTHING about "this country's common culture". "Common" implies those things we agree on. Well, I can say there may be something I agree with Hollywood on...but I've yet to hear or see it.

Of course, in Clarence Page's world, if Dems and the MSM and the NAACP and Hollywood all say the same thing,---Voila!---common culture! Talk about living in a make-believe world!

" they (liberals) haven't gotten over the 2004 elections yet."

2004? Many of them are still dwelling on 2000.

Scum.

All of Hollyweird.

The retards singing about pimps on prime time Oscar night tops it off. Perfect theme for Hollyweird itself.

A bunch of political and juvenile name calling is all that is "what are you afraid of..." and "you are bad because you are intolerant...". The left doesn't evidence any tolerance for other perspectives, political correctness is despotism, make dissent from the liberal agenda illegal by thoughtcrime.

I could see the Oscar broadcast losing enough audience to move to cable (say maybe "Bravo") in the next 5 years.

I believe you are asking for too much , they (liberals) haven't gotten over the 2004 1968 elections yet.

Living in the same bubble that had film critics bemoaning "I don't know how Nixon won, I don't know anyone who voted for him".

Calling Jesse Jackson! How about blacks can't be racist?

"Crash" shows quite well just how much black racism exists - a sort of tribal racism by every race against every other race, in fact. I'm kind of surprised it won, since at least part of the film's message has to be making Jackson and Sharpton choke on their foie gras. ;)

What's an Oscar?

An O-scar is the ring-shaped welt left after the surgeon makes a circular incision in your skin.

What's a movie theater?

A travelling troupe.

Who gives a damn about some award anyway. Why the heck aren't Christians mad that Narnia (or Passion last year) didn't even get nominated, yet both of those movies actually had more than a handful of people watch them.

What was the theme song of Brokeback Mountain? "Looking for Love in all the wrong places"...

Who cares....they've lost their audience. Conservatives have moved way passed these hollyweirdo idiots.

Jeff Foxworth spoke of these very wealthy hollyweirdo actors saying they were mostly a very miserable group of humans.

it says something quite positive about the progress of this country's common culture......

I think you've misunderstood the use of "common" in that statement. The way I see it, its just another snooty liberal looking down their nose at what they regard as the great unwashed masses and how that movie represents/reports such an improvement in the culture of the great unwashed masses.

Its insulting.
