CHINA (China Aid Association)
The first trial of the 17 top leaders from a Chinese religious group ended March 3rd, after three-and-a-half days. Inhumane torture, including sexual abuse, was revealed by some defendants during the court trial. CAA learned from a government source that only one relative of each of the 17 defendants was allowed to attend the hearing. One defendant, Mr. Xu, immediately revoked his so-called "confession papers" as soon as the court finished reading the prosecutors interrogation records. He said the listed confessions were signed under enormous torture, when "I would rather die than live." He was hung in the air for five hours after sleep deprivation for five days and nights. Some self-claimed "torture experts" tied his fingers, toes and genitals with wire and then connected the wire to electricity. One defendant was hung in the air with a very thick blanket and then electrified after he got extremely wet. Mr. Xu's daughter, Ms. Xu Baiyin, described her father as "calm and peaceful." "In his final remark, he urged everyone in the court to believe in Jesus; otherwise, they will one day face eternal judgments in heaven. He also urged his children to continue to follow Christ without fear." Government sources have said Xu and at least three co-defendants will be sentenced to death.

Give thanks to God for these faithful followers of Jesus who are trusting in His power to sustain them. Pray that as Christians around the world petition the Chinese government and lift these believers in fervent prayer, God will have mercy on them, not only sparing their lives, but also releasing them from further prison time. Pray their witness of calm peace will move the hearts of all who watched them during this trial and authorities will come to know the One who is seeking them before it is too late.

I read a novel built on this issue. Trashy book, about adopting Chinese babies and selling human organs and the Chinese authorities all in on it. That last was the only believable part.

This horror exists. Relatives of these people are here on Taiwan trying to raise awareness of these state sponsored crimes.

Does it include a story on Sujiatun Camp?

By the way, nice to see you again. It has been a while. I have been away on and off, too.:)

"I've seen falun gong practitioners doing their chi gong in both the U.S. and Taiwan and it didn't look real threatening honestly - mostly just a bunch of middle age and older women (and some men) doing slow moving exercises."

The fear exhibited by the government has nothing to do with any perceived physical threat of people becoming good at a possibly martial art. The government fear is of people associating because when people associate, they talk, they complain and sometimes they make plans. I lived in VN for a while and even now with the US/VN war far in the past, there is a party member on every block keeping track of that piece of territory and looking for subversive elements. The paranoia is part and parcel of the failed concept of communism - the same thing no doubt exists in Iran and Syria also. This is also the reason for the fear of religion seen under communism.

Bump!

People in the U.S. simply have a hard time acknowledging true evil.

A sure sign that the rot of liberalism is truly widespread...

The CCP acts against the Falun Gong not because it has any actual degree of huge success, in its application, but because it has so many millions of Chinese people who practice it and believe in it; which sets up an alternative allegiance in the minds of the CCP and for them the people cannot believe in anything, ANYTHING, as deserving of greater allegiance than the CCP.

This appears to be an ongoing story; if just a small part of it is true, that is bad enough, I came across it myself.

The Epoch Times must be the newspaper of the Falun Gong; but in one of the stories, the writer states he/she is not a member of the Falun Gong.

I could be mistaken, but think it is fair to call it a dissident "expatriot" newspaper...and hence strongly associated with one of the largest indigenous persecuted groups in China. They likely have a wide range of dissidents...but, consistent with the proportion of dissidents overall, manifesting a preponderance of the issues of Falun Gong folks.

I'm trying to remember when Deng Xiopeng instigated the mass persecutions against Falun Gong. The scuttlebutt was that the head of Falun Gong had 10,000 of his followers rendezvous at, and surrounded, Deng Xiouping's summer home in the hills west of Beijing. Deng went out to take stroll on "his" property....and was given the shock of his life.

E.g., Scared the bejeebers out of Deng. Concluded that with that kind of organizational "pull" they were a potential political threat to the Regime. They had to go. Root and branch. War to the death in other words.
