WASHINGTON Sen. Russell Feingold on Tuesday blamed fellow Democrats for inaction on his stalled resolution to censure President Bush for his authorizing the National Security Agency's electronic terrorist surveillance program.
"I'm amazed at Democrats ... cowering with this president's numbers so low," said Feingold, D-Wis. "The administration ... just has to raise the specter of the War on Terror, and Democrats run and hide."

I am more concerend with the president's approval numbers then most freepers seem to be.
but this guy, a US senator, seriously thinks a censure should be based on a poll rating? and in any case, the poll of americans on this wiretap issue - is in favor of the practice and the WH position.
To: ncountylee
Even funnier - at DU yesterday, they were praising Reid for not allowing the vote - they rationalized it as allowing more time for debate. It was what Feingold WANTED, you understand.
Or not.

Sorry, that was meant to read:

Considering that Feingold introduced it and then left the chambers.

Now Feingold can run to the Left of Hillary. I'm not sure how that benefits Russ. He might win the democRAT nomination, but he's being to Hillary's left is guaranteed to lose the election.

Hi oceanview, with all due respect, I don't worry about these crazy poll numbers. I believe the most recent CNN poll was slanted 53D-39R or something like that.
I called both Feingold and Kohl to talk about what an abomination this censure resolution is. I stressed how embarrassing it is. Here we have a senator declaring the President a criminal on the floor of the Senate. A serious accusation with no definitive proof.
I can't believe how stupid the dems are. The WH has done a poor job recently on the pr front, yet they literally -hand- us an opportunity to set the agenda for the fall elections.
So, in a twisted way, you all can thank my state for providing the nation such a goof to represent the lefties.
p.s. Glad FR is back up and running...

I think that Feingold is their selected idiot of the week. They are floating ideas to see what happens, he got hung out to dry by the very people he counted on, and probably convinced him to do this, his fellow moonbats.
Like every other false and exaggerated charge against the president, this will come back again in about three months. Someone in the NYT will suddenly "discover" information nobody knew they had in January and this effort will be retried, typically with more traction in the media.

but this guy, a US senator, seriously thinks a censure should be based on a poll rating? Bingo! We have a winner! I hope this excellent point gets considered by any WH and Congress spokesmen if asked about the Censure. The WH should bring out that Feingold is playing politics with national security based on poll numbers.
