Experts: Man Who Drove SUV Into UNC Students A Terrorist
WRAL ^ | March 14, 2006

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Terrorism experts say a man who admits to plowing into a group of people to avenge the treatment of Muslims fits the description of a burgeoning type of terrorist -- a lone actor unaffiliated with any organization.

Some students have called on school administrators to label Mohammed Taheri-azar a terrorist for his March 3 attack at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Although UNC Chancellor James Moeser has declined to define the attack, experts outside of the school have not been hesitant to offer their opinions.

"Well, he's a terrorist," said Solomon Bradman, chief executive officer of the Miami-based Security Solutions International. "In this world of global terrorism, you don't have ties back to any particular group. In this new world, terror comes from incitement -- it doesn't come from an organization. The only thing that makes this not look like a terrorist act is that he did a lousy job of it."

...

Taheri-azar is at Central Prison in Raleigh with bond set at $5.5 million.

Taheri-azar's stated reason for the attack sounds like the motivations of suicide bombers in the Middle East and the suicide hijackers of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., Bradman said.

Taheri-azar, a native of Iran, sats he intended to kill the people he struck and wants to defend himself in court and believes a trial will offer him the opportunity to educate people about the will of Allah.

Such religious and cultural motivations make him "the perfect recruit for terrorists," Bradman said.

...

"The battle against terrorism today is against a violent ideology rather than a well-organized, top-down group," Levin said. "It's just a matter of time before we get someone -- an immigrant or someone American-born -- who commits a higher-intensity act of terrorism."

Experts? What experts?

They don't know their asses from a hole in the ground.

Just ask the New York Times.

WTVD Eyewitness News

- The suspect in this month's attack on the UNC-CH campus has written a letter to ABC11 Eyewitness News.

Eyewitness News received the letter Monday, in response to our request for an interview. It was sent from Central Prison in Raleigh and dated Friday, March 10.

Addressed to ABC11 Eyewitness News anchor Amber Rupinta, the two-page letter includes Taheri-azar's explanation of what he was trying to accomplish in the attack.

"Allah gives permission in the Koran for the followers of Allah to attack those who have raged war against them, with the expectation of eternal paradise in case of martyrdom and/or living one's life in obedience of all of Allah's commandments found throughout the Koran's 114 chapters..."

"The U.S. government is responsible for the deaths of and the torture of countless followers of Allah, my brothers and sisters. My attack on Americans at UNC-CH on March 3rd was in retaliation for similar attacks orchestrated by the U.S. government on my fellow followers of Allah in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and other Islamic territories. I did not act out of hatred for Americans, but out of love for Allah instead. "

Taheri-azar is charged with nine counts of attempted murder in the March 3 attack. Police say the Iran native drove a rented SUV through the Pit, a common area on the Chapel Hill campus. Six people were hospitalized.

Taheri-azar surrendered to police shortly after the attack. Investigators swarmed his apartment, where they discovered a letter, CDs and a handgun permit.

The politicians tell us they do everything possible to prevent terrorist attacks in this country so if we were to ask a politician:

"What are we going to do to prevent another terrorist attack like the UNC incident?"...

...They will not have an answer. Therefore, they will insist that this incident isn't terrorism.

If twenty jihadies like this one carried out twenty simultaneous attacks like this one and killed 200 people...they still wouldn't call it terrorism.

Any incident that can't be responded to with cries of "Bush was asleep at the switch" and by creating a new government bureaucracy to prevent such and incident from happening again, will never be acknowledged to be terrorism. The only preventative measure for this particular kind of attack is to forbid Muslim immigrants from driving vehicles.

If forced to take action, they would simply ban SUVs.

Being so close to this case, it has made me wonder just what "other" incidents have occurred around the country that we don't know about.

Because I do believe they are hiding it.

If They told ya, they'd have to kill ya. ;>

All kidding aside, I'm sure there's a lot of events which never hit the MSM.

Yep, I saw this report and I'm waiting to hear from all the "smart ones" who couldn't bring themselves to admit this guy is a TERRORIST! To think these folks are responsible for education, politics, etc is a scarry thing.

I was over at UNC Chapel Hill today. I took the time to speak with a few students, and they all agreed with my suggestion to take this weasel Taheri-azar, and announce publicly that he will be dropped off at a specified nearby redneck bar at a precise time.
