Oriana Fallaci asks: Is Muslim immigration to Europe a conspiracy?
By BRENDAN BERNHARD Wednesday, March 15, 2006 - 8:00 pm
Oriana Fallaci Photo by Francesco Scavullo In The Force of Reason, the controversial Italian journalist and novelist Oriana Fallaci illuminates one of the central enigmas of our time. How did Europe become home to an estimated 20 million Muslims in a mere three decades?
How did Islam go from being a virtual non-factor to a religion that threatens the preeminence of Christianity on the Continent? How could the most popular name for a baby boy in Brussels possibly be Mohammed? Can it really be true that Muslims plan to build a mosque in London that will hold 40,000 people? That Dutch cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam are close to having Muslim majorities? How was Europe, which was saved by the U.S. in world wars I and II, and whose Muslim Bosnians were rescued by the U.S. as recently as 1999, transformed into a place in which, as Fallaci puts it, if I hate Americans I go to Heaven and if I hate Muslims I go to Hell?
In attempting to answer these questions, the author, who is stricken with cancer and has been hounded by death threats and charges of Islamophobia (she is due to go on trial in France this June), has combined history with episodes of riveting firsthand reportage into a form that reads like a real-life conspiracy thriller.

Even on the way home from work last night I noted that it was the main topic of conversation on Michael Savage's radio show.
Clearly, there is a major disconnect in this country among the luny left and even some on the right who feel that we should not be in Iraq. The issue is now so much larger than just Iraq. Our physical presence in Iraq and the Middle East for that matter is the best gamut to stop the proliferation of Muslim fanatics into the West.
The article I think also underscores the need to promote the strategy of freedom and democracy in these third world countries.
If the Europeans prefer death to life, there is nothing that can be done to save them.
Thanks for reposting the article. I missed it yesterday and am glad that I had a chance to read it.
What? No Bush photos, and hosannas for our leader? Who would want to think about the face of our enemy, truth begone. (sarcasm off)
Fallaci sees this issue as clear as a diamond!
That's not so hard. Self-indulgent european women who find babies inconvenient. No young folks to do the work so they had to get 'em from somewhere. And in they came. The europeans have noone but themselves to blame for their Muslim mess.
We have a similar problem here....but I will take the hispanics any day over the muslems....besides I already speak Spanish.
I feel so sorry for Oriana Fallaci. An Italian native all her life, she sees her civilization being destroyed by the lunatic policies of the powers that be and the turpitude of her own countrymen. In her waning years, she chooses to speak up about, as she has in the past for things she's felt strongly about (yes, I realize she's not a conservative, but that's not the point) , and so she gets in trouble with the law, basically accused of thought crimes. What a tragic end for her and even more so for Europe. But at least Oriana's going down swinging, which is more than I can say for Europe!!!
Maybe We could insert 'Illegals' for 'Muslims' in this country? That should answer the authors question. How did they let this happen?
Happy FR anniversary! Your 8th! I bow to you...!
Thank you, I had forgotten how long ago I signed up. It actually seems much longer. I got on here because I had to vent over Clinton. I can't believe I spent 5 years of that ratholes administration, before I found a place that was so similar in thought as I was. Thank you Jim Robinson, I have been blessed with 8 years of FreeRepublic.
Indeed you are blessed.
Didn't mean to get OT, because I am a huge fan of Oriana Fallaci and I commented on her valiant crusade on another thread a day or so ago.
Thanks for posting this. Fallaci's mention of Muslims in England during the '70s brought back awful memories of my days as a theatre student in London. In 1978, arrogant sheiks roamed the streets of Earls Court, pushing female British citizens (and naive Yankees) into the gutters while their wives walked behind them wearing horrible metal face masks.
I lived in a small hotel at that time and my "neighbor" was an Arab man who brought home hookers every night. At a certain point, he would begin to beat and harangue the women while I was forced to listen to it through the paper-thin walls. My complaints to management brought no relief and then one night I lost it and ran out into the hallway, pounded on his door, and demanded he stop abusing the girl. During the ominous silence that followed, I realized my life was in danger. I returned to my room while the monster stood in the hallways screaming "Who was that?", banging on doors, and threatening violence. Strangely, that's where my memory ends.
I've said many times that one of our big advantages over Europe is that we have good immigrants.
You think this isn't happening here?
It may go one way or the other, tip to the Islamics, or to the Euro-whites.
If the blood flows one way, Europe will be destroyed.
If it flows the other, Europe will be saved.
But it is coming, nonetheless, and it is unavoidable.
Big, big difference. The Mexican people for one, are kind and family oriented and largely Christian. The Muslim religion is no more a religion that is communism or nazism. They've contributed not one thing to society, not one in the area of science or technology. Their mission is to destroy, to knock down. Thank God, we have a president that is standing up to them. The Europeans are going to wake up about this sooner than you think.
As I did. Thank you for reposting it, and please ignore the tiny minds of the posting police, those sad sacks without a life...
