JERUSALEM Ariel Sharon, comatose since suffering a massive stroke in January, will be moved to a long-term care facility after elections later this month, Israeli Channel 10 TV reported Friday.
The Israeli prime minister will be moved to the Sheba Medical Center outside Tel Aviv, Channel 10 said, quoting hospital officials.
Doctors have said that every day Sharon, 78, fails to regain consciousness, his chances for recovery diminish. Sharon has had seven operations, including three brain surgeries, since the Jan. 4 stroke.
But the popular leader stars in campaign ads for the Kadima party he founded just weeks before suffering the stroke.
Despite Sharon's absence, the centrist party is expected to win a March 28 election with acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at the helm.
Thank you, I was just wondering how he was doing. The article doesn't mention if he's on life support though.
Wholly expected.
The worst part of it is the grave-dancing being done by Kadima. As I understand it, the only reason that Ehud Olmert is acting Prime Minister and Benjamin Netanyahu is not is that Ariel Sharon has been declared "temporarily incapacitated." An article like this one exposes that declaration as a fraud, but don't expect anything to be done to correct it.
Of course, this pretense also has deprived Israel of the opportunity to grieve properly for their effectively deceased national leader, as his organs fail and then rot one by one.
sounds like they're going to pull the plug after kadima wins

This, for anybody, is when the plug ought to be pulled.
Israeli law says that Olmert shouldn't be where he is - but the Leftist Israeli Supreme Court has already refused to hear this case. Ultimately, whether here or in another world, the Kadima grave-dancers will pay for this.

that is your opinion. i empathize with Sharon's family and the awfulness and finality of making that decision for a parent. it's always simpler on the outside looking in.
At least the Palestinians had a choice to vote for the "anti-corruption" party. In Israel, if a party isn't corrupt, it is banned.
FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
I don't know if Israel will pull a Schiavo on him, but it will make a huge mistake by electing the Party of Appeasement. There is no discernable difference between Kadima and Labor, except maybe the speed at which they want to commit suicide.
That's a lot of cutting. I don't think we'll hear from him again.
Prayers for Sharon and his family.
AMEN, THIS IS WHY I HAVE A DNR.

This is very sad.
That is a bit of a problem. This vote, there is pretty much a choice of the lesser of great evils. All of them want to surrender, some just more slowly than others.
