2008 Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Hillary Clinton already has a campaign staff that dwarfs the size of Sen. John McCain's staff, who's leading the pack for the GOP presidential nomination.
But while Clinton denies that she's thinking beyond her Senate reelection this fall, the New York Post reports that "her political machine is so massive that it's more than four times" as big as Team McCain.
On the other hand, the Arizona Republican relies on just five staffers and a half-dozen consulting firms spread between his campaign and his Straight Talk America PAC, the paper says.
Mrs. Clinton's 20 troops are deployed to fundraising operations such as HillPAC and Friends of Hillary. Also on the campaign payroll, her Senate chief of staff, Tamera Luzzatto.
The former first lady's bloated operation costs her nearly $100,000 per month in payroll alone.
She shells out even more to a phalanx of "seasoned consultants" who handle media strategy, speechwriting, market research, direct mail and fundraising. And although Clinton trails both McCain and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in every national poll taken so far - and seems to be slipping in popularity with the liberal wing of her party - her one undisputed success has been fundraising.
The former first lady's campaign war chest has grown to $17 million - the biggest in the Senate.
Campaign spokeswoman Ann Lewis says that kind of cash flow means Mrs. Clinton's super-size operation is pulling its own weight.
"Considering the successful work that is being carried out by the FOH and HillPAC staff, including our extensive outreach to low-dollar donors, we think it's an appropriate number at this time," she told The Post.
Anyone who underestimates her should get ready for Clintoon II!
"NY Post: Hillary Clinton Has 'Troops'"
She's got a case of the "troops"? Oh, my goodness, I hope it's not series.
I hope it costs her $1,000,000 per month and that it bankrupts her.

Yes but she is running for re-election and he isn't..this is not a surprise.
Please, do not underestimate this Clintoon push!
Don't they mean . . .The former first lady's bloated operation costs US nearly $100,000 per month in payroll alone...????????
The Hillary Fedayeen...I can see them now, drilling and marching around the Hillary Salman Pak mock up in Chappaqua...
A Phalanx Eh....?
Hope they are well versed in fast ash tray hurling and HEAD BOBBING and can complete the various phalanx maneuvers without so much of a hint of EYE CONTACT.
I know she has someone watching FR.
Her campaign used the term 'tinfoil hat' today.
Should we aim a large digit in her direction?
BIGGEST LOSERS
For all the talk about Republican problems in the House and Senate races in 2006, it isn't as though Democrats are faring much better. According to internal Democrat polling in the House, the party expects to pick up no more than three seats in the House, allowing for several losses by members in up-for-grabs districts.
That's not enough to swing the balance of power in the House, and such a middling performance almost assuredly will doom the leadership career of House minority leader Nancy Pelosi, who is less popular among Democrats than President George W. Bush is among all Americans.
According to Hotline, a recent blogger's online poll of 14,000 liberal Democrats found 67 percent disapproved of her. In fact, according to the Hotline, only 19 percent believe her to be even "marginally competent." And these are her people!Link-scroll to bottom
:-)
She lies, too? Must be something in that Arkansas white water...
Then come the Oprah devotees.
Oh, I agree. I don't honestly think there's anyone left in the United States who doesn't expect her to lie her way out of her promises not to run.
Considering the malefactors of great wealth that are pouring seemingly limitless quantities of money into Herself's campaign, Herself shall never have any fear concerning bankruptcy.
And the sources are not confined to the US alone.
Both Iran and China may have a stake in the outcome.
And the worst part is, Herself does not have to actually WIN to create massive mischief for US foreign and domestic policy. Even a close loss gives Herself huge leverage when it comes to painting a confused and dispirited future Republican Administration, and leave government divided for years.
Herself is formidible.
But not yet invincible.
O.K. will someone please forward a copy of the memo to that witch Karen Tumulty at Slime magazine? Oh wait, she probably already had it and still wrote her odious "Republicans on the Run" piece anyway.

But, can they goosestep?
IIRC she had 61 "staffers" with her when she gave a speech in Buffalo last year. They all got food poisoning or something. she/it must have had a troop reduction.
Nothing new here. She's always had her goon squad.
Newsmax, the term is "Flying Monkeys"
I want a T-shirt with that on it!
If McCain is intimidated by that he better drop out now.. well actually he should drop out now anyway but that's another story.
Maybe these guys:

I believe you mean you'll work to prevent her becoming president. Winning an election is only part of a clintonesque campaign outcome. Remember Gore 2000? Losing the election was considered a bump in the road to team Gore.
Too much breast. Not nearly enough hips.
All the money and staff and consultants in the world will not be able to help her recover once Doug From Upland releases his movie and after The Hildabeaste is called to testify at the Peter Paul vs Hillary trial. The woman is doomed. Get used to it J
If it cost her anything she would not have but a few if any.
All those dollars for consultants and all she got was one idiotic reference to Jesus!
Hillary believes that if she throws enough money around, 51% of the american voters will vote for her. She's going to attempt to buy her way into the whitehouse.
Those fund raisers she's been having in places like California aren't to raise money for her senate campaign.
I'd vote for hildabeast before Mcain.
Why does the Smartest Woman in the World (TM) need that many advisors?
IT MUST NOT be underestimated.
IT MUST BE STOPPED!
IT is a hideous travesty of traitorism assaulting the Constitution and the public sanity.
And McCain is not a great deal better. We especially must prevent the horror of it being between the two of them.
Darth Vader had troops too.
When you count in the enormous contributions made to HELLary by NARAL, Emily's List and Move On.org and other pro-abortion groups, she is losing more than one vote for every vote this money might buy her.
A lame, idiotic reference to Jesus, on a subject that close to 80% of the American public stands on the other side of. This woman is not "the smartest woman in America", by any stretch of the imagination...

Let her, she be throwing good money after bad.
I work with a lot of Dems, and absolutely none of them have any enthusiasm for her at all. She is nowhere near as tough as many here believe. Will she be the nominee? Perhaps, depends on who else tries for it.
But the facts on the ground right now, are that the Donks don't think she's electable as President, the far left base despises her, and the only thing she really has going for her at the moment is money.
Will it be enough? We'll see...

Anyone surprised that she changed her tune.
I am adamantly against illegal immigrants. People have to stop employing illegal immigrants. Hilary Clinton in 2003.
Nope, not a bit...
