FLORENCE, Ky. - He said it was a prank gone wrong, but police are taking a 13-year-old student's alleged threats against the president very seriously. Authorities have charged the teen with terroristic threatening, a felony.
The Ockerman Middle School student is accused of making threats against the city of Florence and the president of the United States in e-mails he allegedly sent to city officials, police said.
Principal David Claggett told News 5 that the teen claimed the e-mails were just a joke.
"He said, 'Well, I was just messing around, just kidding around. I wasn't really serious about it,'" Claggett said.

Thirteen is what, 7th grade? I knew not to joke about killing the President younger than that. Not to mention email is the most tracable way to do it... really, really stupid.
I gotta agree....really stupid. And of course, these days you gotta take even stupid 13 year olds seriously....
susie
The Secret Service agents can tell him the same thing after they cuff, question, and teach this youngin' a very important lesson.
The parents?
"The parents?"
You've got to wonder...
When I was that age, I did shoot a window with a BB gun and that didn't make my parents bad parents - it was my fault. But they defininately taught me not to threaten to kill people.
He`s probably just following up on what he is taught by his teacher.
Have we at last become such a nation of paranoid fools that we cant make a distinction between the next Lee Harvey Oswald and a moody little boy?
"Have we at last become such a nation of paranoid fools that we cant make a distinction between the next Lee Harvey Oswald and a moody little boy?"
You do have a point.
But moody boys do shoot people on occasion.
And we (the U.S.) really try to send the message "Don't threaten our President's life."
If you had a kid like that and you had to go through an airport to take a flight, what would you tell him? STFU, you moron.
"If you had a kid like that and you had to go through an airport to take a flight, what would you tell him? STFU, you moron."
Just wait...soon it will be illegal to say STFU to your kid.
Yep, and asswhoopin age I might add........
Bet you were disciplined, too. If you were caught.
One thing to do something stupid and be punished and another to do something stupid and not be punished or worse encouraged.
Fine, if the kid has a notebook with a 'classmates to kill' list and talks about his dad's guns sure you have cause for concern there. The same doesnt apply for this kid talking about killing Bush, I mean seriuously what do you think he might have done? Rode his bike down to DC, outwitted the Secret Service and actually shot Bush? Its idiotic, its a waste of time and tax dollars to boot.
Nothing to worry about--he was just acting out as a result of his teacher having sex with him.
Or the teachers?
Just the type/age to lull SS into thinking he was harmless in a rope line. This kid has potential for being a real sick-o How many 13 year olds do we personally know who writes threatening letter the the POTUS? Uh-huh - just kidding around.
The day prayer was taken out of the public schools is the day the moral compass fell of its needle. We have evolved into a country of inconsiderate lawless heathens. Speeding down the highway, office supplies at work, sales tax payments, taking/giving bribes to get permits, intemperate publicly made threats against the lives of others. Should be no surprise that in a society of "it depends" would come up with someone, no matter how young, that would think it was funny to threaten the POTUS.
"The day prayer was taken out of the public schools is the day the moral compass fell of its needle."
I dont understand how they think that letting children pray voluntarily is the government establishing religion.
are you defending this little pos?
have you ever heard of columbine?
this little future democrat rep needs to have his own private proctologist visit him on an hourly basis.
i'm sure his parents are as big an idiot as he is. they probably coached him.
moody little boy? he is the next child hero of the anarchist crowd. enough of the i'm ok your ok crowd.
straight jackets and gurneys all around.
no more of the "it's my enviornment" that made me threaten the P.O.T.U.S.
no mercy. none asked none given!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Boy do you read alot into his action. Lighten up!!!!
your reasoning is totaly stupid.
how did some idiot ukrainian lob a grenade at our president?
it only takes one lapse and bad things can happen.
ted kazinski was 13 at one time also.
DO NOT THREATEN OUR PRESIDENT!
if you do i hope you get what you desreve.
NO!
Lighten up, Francis537.
Maybe the 'moody little boy' has a file. We won't get to see it but the people who decided to bring the charges would have.
yeah, Harris and Klebold were just moody little outcasts threatening to kill people, it's not like they ever put on trenchcoats and actually shot the kids they'd threatened to at Columbine...Hey wait a minute...
aaaaahhhh, see post 25 to the tenth power.
this kid is and always will be a butt plug.
By the time my son is in the seventh grade he will have a very thoroug understanding of the wworking of many types of weapons. In the seventh grade I could bench press 200 lbs., I was a sports star in my school. Seventh graders can do a lot of things.
Teach him a lesson.
Get some prespective on this people, Bush wasnt in any danger here its just a bunch of nonsense that really shouldnt even make the news much less warrent secret service attention. He wasnt targeting his classmates ala Columbine, he was talking about a guy he only knows from TV - Bush. Its fair to say the Bush is the best protected person on the planet, he doesnt have much to fear from somebody not even old enough to drive. What do you wanna do? Lock him up? Send him to Gitmo?
You can take "zero tolerance" too far and thats the real story here, a nation afraid of its kids.
