NONE OF YOU thought of calling? I mean, I could see if it was a small dinner party: You thought I wouldn't mesh well; you already had a smugly self-obsessed, attention-needy columnist, maybe Mickey Kaus — I get it. But there were 500,000 of you at Saturday's pro-immigration rally downtown, more than 13% of the city's population, the largest gathering ever in L.A. This was a snub.
Did you think I didn't own a white T-shirt to symbolize peace? Because I do. And I adore immigrants.
My great-grandparents were immigrants. And I'm pretty sure the guy who waters our plants is, though I don't talk to him much because he only speaks Spanish.
I would have marched because our country needs immigrants. Sure, my great-grandparents were useless, Yiddish-speaking peasants, but my grandfather started a vending business that my father built up, employing hundreds of people, one of whom was Al Roker. Sure, our nation could survive without vending machines, but how would we fare without Al Roker? At best, a little less happy and a lot more inappropriately dressed for the weather.

The LA Times really needs to start publishing in Spanish, since they apparently hate English speakers so much.
I'll wager that, unlike the hordes this last weekend in L.A., the author's grandparents came here legally and quickly adopted their new country as their own, pledging full allegiance.
I's not as if you have to choose between legal and illegal. It's illegal to speed, but you are not a criminal if you get caught.

You know, it's funny. People thought the Times got rid of Robert Sheer because he was too radical. It's now obvious that old Robert was put out to pasture because he wasn't radical enough.

Every TV and radio station is calling the rally a pro-immigration rally. BS. They are advocating the overthrow of our government. Our C.S. govenment stands by and just watches. Disgusting.
No wonder they lose circulation they insult the english speaking and cannot attract the spanish speaking.

Walk out of restaurants that have them there "working" because they may just be spitting in your food anyway, IF our great politicians pass anything but HR4437 than our options are civil war, vote them out 2006, 2008 or all the above.
Insist that no grass cutter that comes to your home be illegal or mexican, one and the same, you'll know them by the flag they will be carrying.
