Carroll Says Captors Treated Her Well By MARIAM FAM, Associated Press Writer 21 minutes ago
American reporter Jill Carroll was set free Thursday, nearly three months after she was kidnapped in an ambush that killed her translator, and said she had been treated well.
Carroll apparently was left in the street near the Iraqi Islamic Party offices. She walked inside, and people there called American officials.
"I was treated well, but I don't know why I was kidnapped," Carroll said in a brief interview on Baghdad television.
Even though the group threatened twice in videotapes to kill her, Carroll said, "They never hit me. They never said they would hit me."
During the interview, Carroll wore a light green Islamic headscarf and a gray Arabic robe.
"I'm just happy to be free. I want to be with my family," she was heard to say under the Arabic voiceover.
Carroll said she was kept in a room with a window and a shower, but she did not know where she was. Asked about the circumstances of her release, she said, "They just came to me and said we're going. They didn't tell me what was going on."
In Berlin, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she was "pleased" by the news of Carroll's release.

I wonder if their new MO is to kidnap for the sake of treating well and then releasing, so the world media will speak ill of the war effort?

Let's not forget they killed her interpreter. Yet I suppose she will still defend her captors. Nutjob, IMHO!

She wears it so she will look like a local and thus, not draw any undue attention to herself, in case there are kidnappers and terrorists about :-)

I do not believe her and that she was kidnapped.

I will always believe this to be a set up situation...I think she was in on it and I said at the time if she was released unharmed she was part of the setup....now I will prepare to hear how she wouldn't have been in the situation to begin with if the US hadn't invaded and OCCUPIED the poor little Iraq's...
Does anyone else wonder why no other American Woman "Journalists" are kidnapped??? -- Just this one who has been an apologist for the terrorists from the beginning..and foreign females from liberal papers????
To: InvisibleChurch
She failed to draw attention to the "treatment" her Iraqi translator got, however. The translator was murdered in order to kidnap her, just to "treat her well."
What a load of cr$%!

Clearly, she "volunteered" to be taken hostage. Moonbat psychology...

After reading her anti-US writings, they knew she was a terrorist friend...as are most US msm reps in Iraq. I'm surprised she didn't get an offer from Al Jeezera to join their staff. I hear they're hiring CNN people.

They treated her well, but her translator is dead. Since he was just a local, I guess his death is a matter of no great importance.
To: JHL
Given some of her views, I'm afraid she went over the fence a good time before she was taken...and her captors knew this and at the very best, took abject advantage of it. At the very worst, she was a willing participant. I pray that is not the case.

Either she was in real fear for her life (which does not translate to being "treated well"), or she was acting. It's one or the other.
To: YOUGOTIT
Why is she still wearing that Islamic get-up? If I were freed, the first thing I would do would find some presentable clothing.

To: mlc9852
Precisely. The ignorance of the press, she IS a reporter, continues unabated. Kidnapping someone, threatening to murder her, and murdering her companion, are not the marks of "good treatment." They are the marks of savages.
If a reporter who was IN this very situation cannot tell the truth about her captors, there's little hope for American press coverage of the war to be anything but continued dishonesty which deceives the American people.
It makes no difference whether the reporters intend to be dishonest, or are merely clueless. The effects back home are the same.

Does anyone else wonder why no other American Woman "Journalists" are kidnapped??? -- Just this one who has been an apologist for the terrorists from the beginning..and foreign females from liberal papers???? Well, you could be right. An alternate explanation, that I personally think is more likely, is that liberal females are the only ones that don't have the brains to take some precautions against being kidnapped.

Either she was in real fear for her life (which does not translate to being "treated well"), or she was acting. It's one or the other.
She was making this statement to an Arab TV station in the office of a Sunni political party. It's not as if she was in the US embassy and safe. I'm waiting to hear what she says when she's in US custody. Unfortunately, because of all of the hostage scams, if one is kidnapped in Iraq they must end up beheaded or rescued by the military or they are suspects until proven not guilty.
