The FBI broke up a ring that tried to smuggle Hezbollah operatives into the United States. In testimony Tuesday to Congress on the FBIs budget request, director Robert Mueller said most recent reports on terrorist smuggling do not pan out.
However, he identified one that did: This was an occasion in which Hezbollah operatives were assisting others with some association with Hezbollah in coming to the United States, Mueller said. That was an organization that we dismantled and identified those persons who had been smuggled in. And they have been addressed as well.
Mueller did not elaborate further, except to say that the ring had attempted to smuggle the operatives into the United States from Mexico

"the ring had attempted to smuggle the operatives into the United States from Mexico" Impossible. The Mexican border is not a strategic threat. We've been told by "them." So sit down, shut up, and take it.

So was the FBI watching the border? Or was the FBI tracking these Hezbollah agents all of the way from Lebanon to Mexico?
Or did they just get a tip?
Well anyway, it's a good catch and a good job that the FBI caught them upon entry to the U.S. (gotta give credit where it's due).

This may be the ring operating out of Tiajuana with the help of Mexican Immigration officials that we (the US and Mexico) broke up last year.
I seem to remember posting/pinging articles about a Mid-East connection back then.

"To all of you who said that terrorists wouldn't try to enter the US via Mexico..."
No one is surprised that the terrorists tried to enter the U.S. from Mexico.
The surprise is that we caught them (a good thing, by the way).
Perhaps our border enforcement is better than we've been led to believe.

Perhaps our border enforcement is better than we've been led to believe. I think it's a lot better than many here think it is. I see it every day on the way to work.
I'm just not that sure it's good enough. The BP are still saying they only catch one in three who try to cross illegally.

The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.
Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

PING: This article/thread deals with the expected results of what we've been discussing regarding Hezbollah's activity in Iraq and attempts to gain entry in to the U.S. as well as potential theories about Zarqawi going to Lebanon to coordinate with Hezbollah...

Thanks for the ping. This is just as I thought. Middle Easteners have been coming here illegally for years via Mexico. For political reason the government has been denying this. Just as we don't have a clue as to how many illegal Mexicans are here, we don't have a clue as to how many illegal Middle Easteners are here.

"...potential theories about Zarqawi going to Lebanon to coordinate with Hezbollah..."
Somehow I think it is more then a potential theory. Abu fled Iraq to elsewhere. Be it as you had suggested last month Lebanon, the Gaza, elsewhere in the wesetern ME, or perhaps as some have felt, via. Iran to Afghansitan, or even in some sh*thole in Pakistan.
Bottom line is he made it clear the big six would handle things in Iran while he retired out of site. Obviously he is not going to retire. Just coordinate with some tightly knit groups how to enter the US and blow things up.
At least it appears obviouse to me. So I think it is not so much a "potential" but a when they succeed in planning some missions.

It may be in poor taste in your estimation, You are confused. I was not questioning or commenting on their reasons for coming here, nor was I denying that our southern border has more holes in it then a Clinton alibi. I was simply acknowledging that jokes about Americans being blown up by terrorists is not a very funny topic for off color jokes.
Perhaps you find joking about it to be funny. I don't.

I am not confused, nor was I making a joke about Americans being blown up by terrorists. I was making a joke about the fact that illegals and terrorists are coming over the border for similar purposes. It's called parallelism, and it's also called black humor. People who care can actually make wry comments and still care about their fellow citizens. Fer cryin' out loud, don't sit there ready to jump on every comment people make as though you're the only one who gives a damn about this country.
