You're welcome. Small numbers are good when it comes to quakes.

California shakes alot more than people realize every single day.. but they are mostly smaller ones, and/or very deep so they are not felt..

This pic at a glance seemed much more busier then the one you posted earlier, perhaps because it was zoomed in.

Grew up there myself and it was quite common to be playing as a child in the street and have "spring time" quakes.

Hayward fault line.

I left for other personal reasons after the 1989 quake. But that was one of the things I was required to do to sale our real estate was to get a foundation check post earthquake.

There are ways to build safe homes ect. but no one chooses the extra costs and continue to build homes that will not stand up in a tsunami or quake.

We just went through a rough winter and lost part of a roof (been in our home close to 20yrs). The insurance payment was not enough to cover what it will cost. Surely paying our insurance rates for the last two decades without any other claims would think they would be a little more fair.

If I ever did build again I will use all I have learned before deciding on just going with a geology report and a Contractors "OK".

Some of the architectural designs in Japan are wonderful and they take in account for those of all walks of life when they redesign the hard hit tsunami area they had.
