In a Friday afternoon news conference, Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-4th) said that the altercation between she and a Capitol police officer was started by the officer "inappropriately touching and stopping" her after she walked past a security checkpoint.
Prior to the news conference that, at times, seemed more like a church revival meeting, one of McKinney's lawyers, James W. Myart Jr. said that her problems with police are racial in nature.
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin, Myart said. Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black.
McKinneys office on Thursday afternoon, released a video clip from the independent documentary American Blackout, in which McKinney is questioned by a Capitol police officer who does not immediately recognize her. In the clip, she implies that the questioning is because she is black.

I really want the video of the altercation to be released. Let us see with our own eyes who did what to whom.

That this is a story shows the shortcomings of a 24/7 news cycle. There isn't much in the way of new news going on and the broadcast stations are looking for a way to keep ratings up. So we're treated to this non-story.
Look for this investigation to peter out and the story to dissappear before long.

Local Atlanta news is reporting that the Fraternal Order of Police (not sure if local chapter or national chapter) has issued a statement in support of the Capitol Police and gave a scathing statement against McKinney and her actions.

For some blacks, the mere presence of a friendly greeting from a white person is enough to invoke the race card.
No matter what evidence you have, it's never their fault.

Always Whitey's fault. Just who sees color first here?
McKinney's voters should be ashamed . . . very ashamed.
But something tells me they're proud of her tonight.
Sickening and disgusting.

To: jazusamo
They can't really make any statements about this until after any trial that takes place and even then decorum usually prevents it.
They're playing by the rules on this one - notice how nobody has leaked the tape out?

Re#9 They know she has exposure. Hence the scorched earth preemptive strike. They are setting up a huge "historical profiling by race" defense. It will be a DC jury, after all. Here's hoping the judge does not let them play the game absent compelling proof. Gotta run, have a great weekend....

From the article:
The U.S. Attorney's office in Washington says they are considering possible charges against McKinney, and will decide whether to prosecute her as early as next week. Oh, yeah. The race card will be played BIG TIME to be sure no charges are filed against her for assaulting an officer.

...the altercation between she and a Capitol police officer... If this reporter, a professional writer, can't get the grammar right, it doesn't add to his credibility. Maybe he was a victim of the liberals' "whole language" method of teaching English.
...was started by the officer "inappropriately touching and stopping" her...
And there we have the sexual harassment card. If you can't win on the facts, stir up a lot of emotion, distort the sequence of events, and hope your audience doesn't notice you're lying.
I agree, we need to see the tape.

She must not wear her "member" pin simply to use this type of situation to play politics and pretend to be important.
I wonder how many congressman do not wear their pins?
The house should pass a procedure rule making it mandatory to wear their pin as not t o confuse the "racist" capital police

I watched this press conference. After she spoke, and she was just listening to the attorney speak, you should have seen her face. Her eyes were glowing, and she had this thrilled smile on her face.
She looked like she had won lotto. She was SO happy, in this blissful, totally weird kind of way. If someone could post a picture....

Video whatever doesnt matter. She was supposed to be wearing a pin or some form of recognition to which she wasnt. This idiot and her lawyer as usual want to make it a racial issue. When you dont have a leg to stand on and you are black it is all about race. No wonder this country and the black community are in such a terrible state. Damn a bunch of excuses abide by the rules or law and in general you will have no problem.
Hell, I am about to the point I wish an officer would allow a suicide bomber in there. Maybe it would stop some of the Controversy,Crap and Confusion! The whole darn bunch think they are Prima Donnas.

Whomever she is getting legal and political advice from she should FIRE THEM.I doubt that she takes advice from anyone other than, perhaps, her father. When in the 2000 election she was defeated in the Democrat primary by another black woman, Cynthia's father Billy--a Georgia state politician who has race cards up every sleeve--was asked why she lost. As it was hard to claim racism when the winner was the same race as Cynthia, he blamed her defeat on the Jews.

They are setting up a huge "historical profiling by race" defense. And of course HER history of punching police officers isn't a historical pattern. After all, she's just a helpless little woman with no power and no way to protect herself. It's not like she's a member of the most powerful deliberative body in the world....oh, wait. Never mind.
