The reporter has at least a moral obligation to report what he or she knows if can prove innocence in this case.

I don't know if this article has been posted yet. One of the players' attorney is giving their side of what happened in some detail:

http://www.wral.com/news/8516436/detail.html

Key points:

* The players hired the strippers for $800- I suppose about $400 each.

* The dancers only danced for about 3 minutes before stopping and leaving with the money. The players were very frustrated and that was the origin of the email.

* The attorneys now believe that the first 911 calls was definitely made by the other stripper.

I believe that whether happened involved a dispute over the money that was taken by the stripper. It is possible that drunk and angry, they physically but not sexually assaulted her in an attempt to get the money back. Apparently some of the money was recovered in the first search. She became angry (or scared) that she didn't have the money she was counting on making that night. Perhaps her boyfriend was counting on her making that $800 and she needed an excuse as to why she didn't have it. So, after driving around for a period of time, the two strippers come up with a plan...

Of course, it is also possible that the players were so angry that they decided to take what they wanted by raping her. The DNA results are going to really tell the tale here, IMO.

Not ONLY sex BEFORE the MIDNIGHT Party, BUT AFTER SHE LEFT!!!

On Dan Abrams, two attorneys (one a prosector and one a defense attorney) that her boyfriend took her to the hospital

Not the Police, NOT an ambulance. She was only wearing see-through underwear and intoxicated at Kroger according to the second 911 and an interview of the Kroger security guard.
So, in see through underwear and drunk or high, her boyfriend picks her up (does he react angrilly when he finds out she's stripping and stikes her? Or is he turned on by her dress, condition, and the fact she's a stripper?)

Presents all kinds of problems for the prosecution.
The intervening period of the supposed event and her exam she was with her boyfriend unsupervised. And why didn't the Police treat it as a rape? They didn't believe her? She wasn't credible? Or maybe she didn't have any marks on her or wasn't swollen like her Father claims.

Depends on what you mean by "run." There is the political power structure, and then there is the REAL power structure.

Before this is over, they will be bigger bigots than any homegrown racist you will ever meet.

Add the words "shown to be" before the word "bigots" and I will agree. As Patterson Hood (lead singer of the Drive By Truckers) says :"although racism and racial hatred is a universal problem, ever since George Wallace it has been popular to talk about racial problems with a southern drawl."

While it is wrong to assume that every person in an ethnic subgroup automatically behaves by certain criteria, it is also true that people don't sit around a living room somewhere and say "Hey, lets make up a stereotype!" They exist for a REASON. In this case the stereotypes of rich, arrogant, snotnosed white boys who think others exist in the world to do their bidding is matched equally by some money grubbing ignorant ho' with an attitude, who will play the race card at the drop of a hat if she smells money.

I honestly don't know which is worse.

The Condom issue... The woman didn't say they were wearing condoms. The media brought that up and said THEY SHOULD FILE CHARGES REGARDLESS OF THE DNA Tests.

Two players asked to take a Lie Detector test and the DA-Nifong said, No - I'm not interested since it's not admissable. Some players volunteered to give DNA samples, the DA said okay, we'll be in touch. The next thing they heard, the DA had gotten a court order forcing them to submit to DNA swabs. The 3 players that names are on the lease for the residence went the police station and gave detailed interviews voluntarily. BUT the DA continued to go and do interviews and speak of a Wall of Silence and say the players would not cooperate, he then linked that with guilt.

It's apparent to me that the 2 strippers lied to the DA and police about many issues that night (not just the rape) and the DA took their word for it. The alleged Victim stole a car from a man she did a lap dance for in 2002 and took the police on a high speed chase out of the county and then tried to run over the police officer when she stopped on a dead end road. Her license has been suspended 3 times and she's had continual substance abuse problems, yet the DA believed them. Many local journalists are mad at the DA because he told them he was certain about Y or 100% certain about X, it has been verified. Then these local journalists went on National TV as the expers and they passed on BAD info that the DA gave them. The DA stated the girl was stripping for the 2nd time and she was very nervous. Turns out she's been stripping for at least 5 years at strip clubs and at private parties under the name Crystal Magnum, and she may even have changed her name to Crystal Magnum.

The women lied about the fact they arrived together.. DA said these women didn't know each other before this night and that the arrived separately. They may have been trying to cover up a previous party or booking that night, because the feuding neighbor saw them arrive together, get out of the car together and described what each was wearing down to their shoes.

They lied about not making the first 911 call, they made it and it was probably Kim, the other dancer. The neighbor's statement and the police report of arriving 120 seconds after that call to an empty house shows that call was made by the strippers.. The DA said it was independent corroboration of another racial event that night that was "frightening" and showed the state of mind of the boys.
In fat, the DA said NEITHER Dancer made EITHER call, he was certain. He had a policespokesmen admit in a conference that Kim (the 2nd stripper) was the impetus behind the second call. That begs the question why didn't she make the second call from her cell phone, instead of driving almost 3 miles to a Supermarket and ask a security guard to call 911?
Are they again looking for corroboration? Did they identify that a he said, she said would be problematic for them. So, they called anonymously and blocked the first call, and then got a Store security guard involved with the 2nd call. All this, when a police station is less than a mile away. AND remember, the stripper says in the first 911 call - I live right by here and she intimates that these player were involved with another racial incident in that same area. Strangely, the police have no record of the incident she mentions, yet, in Durham, anything REMOTELY considered racial makes the Headlines on the Nightly news. Even in Raleigh, if a leaflet goes into a mailbox that says YOU PEOPLE, an investigation is started.

There are SO MANY HOLES in this case and the MEDIA WON'T REPORT ANY OF THEM!

Here' my theory on the Father's comments:

The Father has changed his story all around and the woman has more and more injuries with every interview; However, he's been consistent that the morning after the alleged rape. She drops her Car off at his house and tells him, unexpectedly, "she doesn't want to drive it." Then she gets in a car with another boyfriend and leaves.

It's only a theory, but with her substance-abuse history and 3 license suspensions - I wonder if she's NOT supposed to drive and didn't want the Police or investigators seeing her driving OR possibly she didn't have any insurance because with the Larcenies, DWI, and License suspensions it is probably very expensive. It not a coincidence that she wasn't going to drive her car any longer once the Police got involved.

One of the last interviews with her father not only was the swelling worse and the beating worse, but, in his latest tale, he says that she hardly could walk - it was real painful and that SHE told him that her leg was out of Joint and the Doctors at the hospital tried to put it back in Joint according to him. Remember, the first time they interviewed the guy, he was surprised, and he said - we didn't know anything about it and She didn't say anything was wrong.

In another related item, Defense attorneys said yesterday that after consulting with multiple constitional lawyers they got a unanimous advice that the affidavits and the search warrant in this case was unconsititional. They said the affidavit was generic and only said the women had been raped. It did not have the details needed to be able to be used as reasonable cause. It is basic stuff and it wasn't done and any court would throw it out.. That what was said.

I thought about this and Hold-ON she's a college student !!!

Should NCCU suspend her for Stealing a car, taking the police on a High speed chase thru 2 counties, and then trying to RUN THE POLICEMEN OVER?

DO you think the media will question whether there is a culture at NCCU that fosters and foments this type of behavior? Do you think Universities will sponsor Midnight vigils to bring attention to violence against policemen? Or Grand Larceny? Or DWI?

Shouldn't we know now if the other stripper is a NCCU student and about her violent crime record? Shouldn't NCCU launch an investigation into why this woman has allowed to continue on as a student when it's obvious she's a danger to the community (DWI, 3 license suspensions also).

The Media won't even broadcast this, but on this morning's news they are talking about whether the Athletic Director should step down too due to underage drinking and open container violations ... The Duke guys are thugs because of open containers and underage drinking off-campus, mind you..

Can you say DOUBLE-STANDARD?

Not many details of the incident have emerged over the last few weeks, despite the fact that the alleged assault occurred March 16.(13/14) For one reason or another, the entire Duke lacrosse team has chosen to remain silent on the issue. It is this silence that may be the most unsettling part of this story.

www.cavalierdaily.com April 6, 2006

The wall of silence is what has dragged this event down and down. At his point, I believe some of the members of the lacrosse team know something that they should have brought forward to clear most of the team from any major(assault, cover-up...) wrongdoing. There is enough silence going around to place blame evenly.- school authorities and coaches for the first two weeks, players, the "exotic dancers." Three, four, five, six or seven guys may have destroyed/rerouted/disrupted the lives of many, directly and indirectly by their actions and decisions that night and their silence that followed.

I wish people would stop repeating this "wall of silence" crap.

The lacrosse captains, who live in the house and appear to be the specific players accused of the rape (based on the first names the alleged victim gave police), went to the police station and voluntarily gave statements without lawyers present.

And it's no surprise that all the lacrosse players are now lawyered up, since the DA publicly threatened to bring charges against everyone present at the party.

See the article cited below:

But if the three lacrosse captains who occupy the house had anything to hide, they didn't act like it. They cooperated in the search and voluntarily went down to the police station to give statements, without lawyers present. Their offer to take a lie-detector test was rebuffed by police. No one accompanied her into the bathroom, the players told police.

Well, you're wrong that they didn't cooperate. I live in the area and the stations are covering it constantly.

2 players offered to take lie detector tests and have DNA samples take. Their offer to take lie detector tests was turned down by the DA and they told them they'd get back to them on the DNA. The next thing they knew they were advised the DA had gotten a court order to get their DNA.

The 3 players that names were on the lease at the residence voluntarily went to the Police Station and were interviewed, repeatedly for hours.

Many other players answered the police questions when the investigators advised them they were all going to be charged, they got lawyers and the lawyers, like always told them they would do the talking from that point on.

When the DA was asking about these claims by the Defense attorney, the DA said well they have maintained there was no rape that night and that's not true from the state's perspective - so in that they haven't been truthful, they have not cooperated. But, every night on the cable shows they talk about a wall of silence and a secret society and how they lookg guility for not cooperating. It's simply NOT true and the DA was successful in taking spin to the overly receptive media.

The Barrage of Media coverage reporting something every day on the players has formed opinions. People see the team as guilty and the accuser as a victim. The REPORTING and commentary in the MEDIA have caused many to view the team as guilty. Even on this site, people have formed their opinions and no one has been charged.

Yesterday the Durham City Manager responded to questions of why the party house wasn't searched for two days. I've read lots of comments from black residents/NCCU students decrying the delay - along the line of "If it had been a white woman attacked by black students..." Now we find out 31 hours passed before the accuser was able to provide any details of what happened:

No, if that doesn't smell. Good Catch. Whoa 31 hours.

I talked to a reporter and he told me how the Mother Teresa of the media Stole the Car. She was doing a lap dance for him, and while she was doing it she acted like she wanted to feel his stomach and groin, while the guy was apparently enjoying it, she reached into his pants and took his keys.

She told the N&O in a 03/25 article that she was so nervous because she new to dancing, she was scared to go in. Turns out she's been doing it over 5 years in strip clubs and private parties.

In this article defense lawyer Cheshire says the defense "can, and will if necessary" show that the purchased two hr. performance lasted only three minutes before the dancers abruptly left with the $800. He also says that "inapproprate" words were spoken, but no rape occurred.

I think those comments indicate the defense has time-stamped video of the aborted show, which includes insulting words from the angry guys.

Good point. I wonder why the media hasn't stared putting pressure on NCCU to suspend the accuser? She's a full-time student (we're told) why is it okay to have woman that stole a car and tried to kill a cop as a student, but a 19 year old that writes e-mails to other 18-20 years olds IS fit for suspension?

Since she's a stripper and making big bucks for the past 5 years, maybe the Financial assistance officer at NCCU should step down for submitting her Gov't assistance Grants paperwork - like the Lacrosse Coach, she should've known what this woman was doing.

I call for a full investigation of NCCU.

I wish people would stop (your words) printing misinformation, SirJohnBarleycorn.

The court document available at smokinggun shows the accuser named an "Adam, Bret and Matt." The three lacrosse captains are not an "Adam, Bret and Matt."

It has been stated in numerous reports that the players identified themselves by number and the dancers believe the players used fake names. The "dancers" reported the players said they were on other sports teams and did not identify themselves as Lacrosse players.

There are two Matts on one Duke Lacrosse 2006 roster and three Matts on another one available on the internet.

The Lacrosse captains were released from the lease with Duke University and do not live in the house any longer.

Lacrosse Captain Dan has been reported to have admitted using an alias "Adam" when he hired the women.

Three players are reported to have willingly gone and shown no signs of acting like they had anything to hide and this is from a Newsweek source and possible repeated on MSNBC, several of the player's lawyers and on this thread over and over.

Even if three gave their account,( some places stress it was a written statement of events), that leaves 43 players "silent." There is the wall of silence. Oops - you wish people would stop repeating that. But the wall is still there. This week after the e-mail came to light, the University administrator again urged the players and others to come forward with information.
