Spotsylvania teacher charged with sexual misconduct
A Courtland High School special education teacher has been charged with nine offenses involving sexual relations with two teenage students, police said.
Bonnie Sue Davis, 35, of Spotsylvania County is charged with two counts of sodomy, six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and having sex with a child.
She was arrested late Thursday and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail, sheriff's Lt. Eddie Peck said.
Davis, who has worked for the Spotsylvania school system for six years, is accused of sexual misconduct with two Courtland High boys, ages 14 and 15. She has been suspended from her teaching duties.
Police say none of the alleged activity took place at the school.
Spotsylvania detectives searched Davis' home in the county's Ruffins Pond subdivision about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, according to paperwork filed yesterday in Spotsylvania Circuit Court.
They photographed the layout of the house and the contents of the residence, according to court documents filed by Spotsylvania Detective T.J. Bryner. Detectives believe sexual activity may have occurred there, Peck said.
Until last week, the school system and the Sheriff's Office had been conducting independent investigations, according to Spotsylvania public schools spokeswoman Sara Branner. The two parties began cooperating a week ago.
An arraignment for Davis has been set for Monday, Spotsylvania Commonwealth's Attorney William Neely said.
Neely said that Davis has hired defense attorney Phillip Sasser. Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Stuart Sullivan is prosecuting the case.
Davis has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation, according to a school statement released yesterday.
Courtland High Principal Michael Bedwell said he could not comment on whether Davis will return to her post in the future.
"There is an investigation happening," he said. "We'll have to wait and see the outcome. I will not predict or presume what will happen down the road."
Davis, who is tenured, has been a Spotsylvania public schools employee since 1999, according to Branner.
From 1999 to 2001, Davis was a special education teacher at Lee Hill Elementary School. She has been a special education teacher at Courtland High School since 2001. She focuses primarily on mathematics instruction.

Sodomy? Oh my!
Eh. Maybe she cleans up better.
"She focuses primarily on mathematics instruction"
No she doesn't.
LOL, allegedly she doesn't.
"Eh. Maybe she cleans up better."
Yeah, you need some federally funded superfund environmental cleanup contract to get that one into fighting shape.
....according to BJ Clintoon, sodomy is not sex.
Go figure.
Sodomy? She sure doesn't look too happy.
As defined in various laws, not necessarily, and in this case almost certainly, not the same as buggery.
Note to single men, start a singles bar offering specials for women teachers.
Memo to self, tidy up that sloppy not . . . not.
NEA will circle the wagons tighter than the priesthood if this keeps up.
If it couldn't sound worse, she's special ed.
Our justice system is failing and is unfair. The message I get from the punishments these teachers receive is what they did wasn't that big of a deal.
No one can learn from their mistakes unless they get the punishment they deserve. That is the reason we have so many repeat sex offenders. They all receive sentences and go out and commit the same crime again just like Letourneau.
Unless our justice system buckles down and starts putting sexual predators, female or male, behind bars for good it will continue to happen. Sex crimes are already an epidemic in our society and at the rate it is going, the situation will only get worse.
And the list of things I didn't need to know, continues to grow.

She don't look too happy.
Her favorite is the number....1.
I believe this problem is bigger than anybody would like to admit. I worked with high school athletics for years and worked with many schools. I have no proper knowledge, but have had years of continued "funny feelings" about some of the teachers and many of the students.
The first step in the solution: smaller schools
We teach our Children to look out for adults who might hurt them. But sometimes, the grown-ups in their own classrooms are the ones who could do the most harm.
A singles bar with specials for schoolteachers wouldn't work.
Minor children can't go into bars.
so there wouldn't be any attraction for these schoolteachers to patronize them.
Disagree. The first step in the solution is to find better teachers.
back-at-cha
a smaller environment creates more transparancy and greater accountibility. Like a big city, people can hide within the numbers of a large school.
I did business at both. The smaller schools had fewer problems with this crap.
I will side with you about the teachers, but for political reasons..
If she's cute don't prosecute.
And I will side with you about small schools being a good thing. I just think that teacher qualification and responsibility are of prime importance regardless of school size.
Wasn't Sandra Day O'Clowner the swing vote on the Supreme Court when sodomy was ruled just fine and dandy???
Don't go bad-mouthin' Bonnie Sue, else Jethro and Goober will be comin' ta git you.
She working on the "goes into" part...
Sorry.
Lol.
sorry I laughed
I thought the Supreme Court legalized sodomy?
Could this be the Spotsylvania Court House where a major battle was fought in 1864?
Mary Kay wannabes?
I believe that is a National Park. The active court is probably in Fredericksburg. Don't know for sure.
Fat chick, right?
regarding the pic in #18, she's not exactly Lafave material, so she could face some jail time. Maybe if she gets an extreme makeover, she'll get home detention.
The double dual standard (men v. women and good looking women v. not so good looking women) of punishment is making a charade of the justice system.
Had Ted Bundy been a good looking woman who had offed a bunch of drifters, we'd still be paying for her - at the most - life sentence.
IIRC, they overturned a paticular state's anti-sodomy law; not quite the same thing (but close).
She will soon be qualified for "Teacher of the Year."
I'm pretty sure based on those same types of 'funny feelings' that my 9th grade science teacher back in the 70's got to enjoy the favors of two girls in my class who were pretty 'loose' even by today's standards.
Probably oral, that is included you know.
If only teachers were allowed to marry ...
Most boys would feel that way, but sexualizing boys that young might make them easier prey for NAMBLA deviants. Many homosexual molesters open up their victims with "straight" porn magazines and films, because once their victims are sexualized, it can go in any direction. We know that Michael Jackson kept straight porn in his home.
