This is outrageous. I am a republican, and I am ashamed at the sweetheart deal given to the son of a republican congressman. If this were a dem, I would expect a lot of outrage here. What are these people thinking of, to give this pervert a slap on the wrist?
From an article in the Arizona Republic which cannot be posted here, Lawyers for Bennett declined to comment. But in a letter to the Yavapai County attorney, Bennett's lawyers said he immediately "took responsibility for his role, showed remorse and admitted that this 'hazing' was inappropriate."
They described Bennett as an honor student and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (mormon), planning to go on a mission in September. "A felony conviction for assault will make his desire to complete his mission impossible," they wrote.

Prosecute them for the maximum crime they can. Sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy with foreign objects cannot be just plead out.
I don't care who the 18 year old is. He needs serious prison time if found guilty.

If it is a sweetheart deal, why are they all getting off? Are they all related to a politician?
I agree it is a travesty. Maybe the Mormons look out for each other. Or the homosexuals...

A rich kid with a high profile daddy will never spend a night in jail. Just look at the Kennedy clan.

I don't think it matters if you are republican or democrat anymore. What matters is the entrenched royalty we have created.
We have a class system now. The elite with power and money, and everyone else.

Just think, if this were about the boy getting lucky with a beautiful blond 22 year old, they be screaming for her to go to prison for rape.

A felony conviction for assault will make his desire to complete his mission impossible Tough. So would prison. If I was convicted of a crime, that would disrupt my future. I don't suppose any prosecutor would accept that as a defense. The feds should jump in on this travesty.
