Two Central Valley levees broke Tuesday, flooding a trailer park in Merced and inundating farmland in Sacramento County as heavy rain continued to fall across Northern California, the State Department of Water Resources said.
A breach on Black Rascal Creek at the confluence of Bear Creek was threatening about 50 nearby homes in Merced, said Michael Miller, a department spokesman.
A couple hours later, a private levee built by a farmer east of Highway 99 at the crossing of the Consumnes River south of Sacramento swamped fields but posed no threat to homes, the highway or railroad tracks. The same area broke in January during heavy storms.
More rain, and probably more levee breaks.
If the rockin' don't come a knockin'! ;)
This proves George Bush doesn't care about....whatever kinda people were living in that trailer park!
Someone call Kanye West! (What should we call him?)
Will someone please take Mr. Rove's finger off the "Dynamite Levees" button?
yup,, snowpack is huge this year in the Sierras as well.. too bad we don't have more reservoirs to catch runoff..
WEather manipulation, surely you jest.. ;-)
The Pacific region is just bubbling and quaking away, el ninar is coming back.
The jackals in Sacramento are ready to go "See? We need that gazillion dollar infrastructure bond NOW!"
Copycats!
Will someone please take Mr. Rove's foot off the "El Nina" pedal?
What is it about trailer parks and disasters?
Trailers must be made out of disaster-magnet steel...
No trailer trash jokes! This is a serious issue! LOL !!!!
Or simple diversions to send it to other .... God forbid .... parts of the state. Personally I don't for the North - South thing .... that's an artificial division. East - West would make much more sense, look at our Red and Blue counties ...
How is a Tennessee divorce like a tornado? - Someone's fixin' to lose a trailer.
Any domed stadiums in the area for the refugees?
Actually, that nasty line of T-storms east of Modesto just might spawn a small tornado or two.
Actually we're BARELY in a La Nina; actually somewhat in dispute, some claim it's still neutral.
There hasn't been a strong El Nino since 1997-98.
Wow, I was just thinking a few minutes ago... chunks of Hwy 1 are now floating in the Pacific Ocean, Hwy 9 is clogged with mud, I wonder when the levees will break.....
Sorry, I'll stop thinking 'cause next will be the houses tumbling down the hillside.
oops
Yikes!!
Don't say that. I live east of Modesto......
You know, everybody complains about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it. ;-)
Al Qaeda Thunderball ping.
lol
I had heard that we were in the early stages of a nina too,, looking at what we got lately? I don't know. ;-)
I am sorry but it is El Nino, not ninar:) I just couldn't help saying it!
Well, I would go for both a north/south and east/west division, but a pure east/west would be ok. I would love to sever everything below Bakersfield and then split off the coast at about hwy 101!

I guess Arco Arena is the "shelter of last resort."
I disagree...the only two blue counties in So Cal are LA and Imperial (illegals.)
Where is California's Looter Man?????
I'm going to add an obligatory "it's Bush's fault".
First, I'd like to send my sister instructions to build an ark.
I'd love to amputate that festering growth down there; but first we need to save the FReepers who are stuck in that muck.

Just heard a Flash Flood warning for Amador,Stanislaus counties, Jackson area..
Looks lkike some intense stuff working up into a good one inland
Ok, we can send arks in to save conservatives! All my relatives are out of Southern CA and up here in God's country(too bad we are hooked onto hell also), so I didn't think about the conservatives that need saving down where the levies flow(and break). :)
Whoever thought global warming would flood California...
Get in a canoe, and row down here to Bakersfield to wait this thing out. :-) I have an extra room.
I used to live in Placerville and in Sacramento. It is beautiful up there, I have to agree.
Aha! You read the same script I did!
Amador county, much better than Sac!:) East of Sac about 45 miles, in the foothills and it will take on heck of a lot of water to flood here!
We used to drive that way to Marpiosa, I believe. It's a wild ride; but lovely!!!
We have the same warnings here in Tuolumne county, and I can hear the thunder in the distance just starting to rumble. Going to be an interesting afternoon.
It's NOT rain. It's undocumented sunshine.
The Nexrad radar shows tornadic activity east of Oakley.
It isnt the rain, its the melting snow!

Where is Celine Dion when we need her!
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was...GONE!

I'm in Twain Harte, just east of Sonora, and we're getting hammered right now.
Huge thunder, pouring rain and hail. The roads around here are all waterfalls.
No more trips to Santa Cruz through Los Banos for a while. Instead I'll head west to I-5 at Patterson, and south from there to 156.
Good point! There is a whopper pile of snow this year and we ain't thru yet packing it in.
Actually, it's the melting snow, and we are being inundated with rain. Big TIME!!
