Smart Talk and Girly Talk on the Campaign Trail(Study: Kerry depressed, Edwards girly, Cheney smart)

President Bush and Vice President Cheney sounded more presidential than their Democratic counterparts. Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.) seemed the most depressed or suicidal. And Kerry's running mate, Sen. John Edwards K(N.C.), sounded the most like a "girly man."
Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin collected transcripts of 271 televised interviews, news conferences, town hall meetings and candidate debates conducted in 2004. The speech samples -- more than 400,000 words in all -- were run through a computer text-analysis program...
...The key to their study is previous research that has identified subtle but distinctive linguistic patterns and words that, for example, differentiate the way men and women talk...
...Cheney easily sounded the smartest of the four, while Edwards and Bush favored the least sophisticated language patterns...
...When it came to sounding presidential, both Bush and his running mate scored considerably higher than Kerry or Edwards...
...The vice president sounded the most honest of the four, and Kerry the least....

Maybe we missed an opportunity to win the WoT in a shorter time. VP Girly-Man's presence & speeched would offend Muslim males' sensibilities, sending them into fiery rages. Then, as a one-two punch, Prez. Kerry would depress them all into committing mass-suicide.

From the article:
"The vice president sounded the most honest of the four, and Kerry the least. Kerry's language also was most like that of a depressed person, followed by Edwards. Perhaps that's inevitable; after all, challengers must sound gloomy and doomy about their opponents' records, though in doing so they run clear risks. "Voters are most favorable toward those candidates who are the most optimistic," Slatcher said. "The depressive language that Kerry and Edwards used during the campaign may have contributed negatively to the way in which they were perceived by the public."
I suffer from depression. I know first hand when I sound depressed, people stay their distance from me. When I sound more upbeat, people flock to me.
We needed to fund a study to show this?
It also shows that if the Dems keep doin what they're doin, 2006 and 2008 will be a lock for Repubs.

A candidate's personal appearance isn't relevant to his fitness for office.

If anyone (besides myself) noticed during the campaigns...
Any time John Edwards raised his fist in a victory gesture, his thumb was always clenched WITHIN his fist!
Any man over the age of 8 knows that you would break your thumb if you ever hit anyone with that fist.
Thats a sure sign that he is a sissy boy.

Because I'm blond, I don't have to think
I talk like a baby, and I never pay for drinks
Don't have to worry about gettin' a man
If I keep this blond, and I keep these tan
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
I see people workin', it just makes me giggle
'Cause I don't have to work, I just have to jiggle
'Cause I'm blond, B-L-O-N-D
'Cause I'm a blond, don't you wish you were me!
I never learned to read and I never learned to cook
Why should I bother when I look like I look?
I know lots of people are smarter than me
But I have this philosophy:
So what?
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
I see girls without dates, and I feel so sorry for 'em
'Cause whenever I'm around, all the men ignore 'em
'Cause I'm blond, nyah nyah nyah
'Cause I'm a blond, nyah nyah nyah
They say to make it you need talent and ambition
Well I got a TV show and this was my audition
Um okay, what was it okay um, don't tell me oh yeah okay
Duck Magnum, duck!
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
I took an IQ test and I flunked it of course
I can't spell VW but I got a Porsche
'Cause I'm a blond, B-L-I-N-D
'Cause I'm a blond, don't you wish you were me!
I just want to say that being chosen as this month's Miss August is like, a compliment I'll remember for as long as I can. Right now I'm a freshman in my fourth year at UCLA, but my goal is to become a veterinarian, 'cause I love children.
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause we're a blond, yeah yeah yeah
Girls think I'm snotty and maybe its true
With my hair and body, you would be too!
'Cause I'm a blond, B-L... I don't know!
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm a blond, yeah yeah yeah

Cheney easily sounded the smartest of the four ...and the most honest. That's always been my impression so why is Cheney's popularity always in the dumper? Obviously, he gets negative press as does Bush, but what is the animosity towards Cheney?
Maybe he's just too damn tough and no nonsense.

I thought of you yesterday... Brit Hume read the results of some study which was done to determine how voters viewed the candidates or how the candidates came across.
Cheney and Bush were the strongest --- most presidential.
Kerry was described as depressing.
Edwards was described as FEMANIME!

That's always been my impression so why is Cheney's popularity always in the dumper? Remember the old political adage that Americans will never vote for any Presidential candidate they perceive to be smarter than themselves? Bush's "dumb" act is a very clever political strategy.
