Capitol police chief faults McKinney for escalating incident
CNN ^ | 4/5/06

Posted on 04/05/2006 10:58:52 AM PDT by finnman69

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U. S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said Wednesday that Rep. Cynthia McKinney turned an officer's failure to recognize her into a criminal matter when she failed to stop at his request, and then struck him.

"He reached out and grabbed her and she turned around and hit him," Gainer said on CNN. "Even the high and the haughty should be able to stop and say, 'I'm a congressman' and then everybody moves on."

"This is not about personality," added House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Illinois. "It's not about racial profiling. It's about making this place safer."

For her part, McKinney wasn't backing down from the argument. She charged anew that racism is behind what she said is a pattern of difficulty in clearing Hill security checkpoints.

Even if it is short-lived this is a great moment of respite for the Republicans. McKinney, trying to save her skin, will make Democrats appear to be playing cheap racial politics. Even Pelosi won't touch her with a 10 foot pole.

I've worked with Cap Hill Police in the past and they need to deal with a lot of stuff we'll never hear about. The FACT that this driveling idiot REFUSED to wear her ID endangers EVERYONE in ALL the buildings.
They are not responsible for keeping up with the many hairdos of Buckwheat's sister. They are responsible for making sure that no kooks get into the building and kill people.
She totally disrespected the entire force of people that are charged with protecting her useless life and the lives of her sycophant staff.

Good work, Georgia voters.

That's her argument. I just don't understand it. There's over 500 Members of Congress and there's elections every 2 years. To expect the police to know them all is WAY beyond a fair expectation. And I would think it would slow up getting people through if they had to study every face that went through to determine if each one was one of the 535. She compared the duties of the police to the high school pages who must memorize each MC. They are there for an education--that's a completely different issue altogether. One thing, though, I agree with Ms. McKinney. They do not have the best security system there, as she has effectively exposed. Everyone should go through metal detectors.

U. S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer is a RACIST because everyone knows who this personable, kind, and gentle black woman is on first sight(despite her ditching the "dreds" and gaining 100 lbs) and that racist pig of a white Capitol police officer was just running a shuck on her...in making her do a metal detector walk-through like she was an every day citizen and wasn't something special, sho' nuff!

Absent wearing the pin, another thing she could do to get through is stop looking like a ghetto mama.

I'd look twice at this coming into the building:

But I might remember that this woman is in Congress:

I was looking at DU the other day and they were torn.

They love nutty Cynthia's politics, because she is the only one giving a voice to strange 9/11 conspiracy theories. But she is taking attention away from Tom Delay! And also, the more rational among them are a little uncomfortaable with her "Don't you know who I am" Attitude.

I won't point out to them John Kerry used to cut in line at the corner store with the same words all the time.

In another security incident involving the Capital Police today, this former Presidential candidate and Vietnam War Hero, has claimed that he was assaulted by a Capital Police Officer and inappropriately touched because he is a black female Senator. When asked to elaborate Senator John F. Kerry said, "Why should that bitch get all the ink? I can change my hairstyle too. Do you know I served in Vietnam?"

IMO, McKinney epitomizes the "Gangsta" culture. Be loud, be angry, be disruptive, disrespectful of authority. Don't want to act "too white". The people of her district have elected a thug. And they are proud of their thug. She's just "telling it like it is".

The problem for the Dems is, as others have mentioned, this doesn't play well in a post 9/11 world. Beat up on a cop who is just doing his job. The people in her district don't care, but the Republicans will use antics like hers to scare the he!! out of voters.

Elect them, you get her. (My smarmy sound bite for the day.)

Pattern? So that explains her four (at least) other run-ins with Capitol Hill security.

I'm channelling Congresswoman McKinney:

That pin is a symbol of white repression. Hitler made the Jews wear yellow stars, but nobody is going to make me wear the white man's pin! How about we make all those white Congressmen wear Kente cloths, how would they like that? etc, etc...

Actually, some of us Gwinnettians are/were part of her district...and voted her out! This is Denise Majette's fault for being such a bonehead and trying to win a Senate seat. But to repeat earlier posts, McKinney is a GREAT democrat. In fact, she is the prototype (ask any DUmmie or Kos-head) I hope the '06 and '08 elections are that clear. McKinney's America...or ANYONE else's. You decide.

Obviously a resolution needs to be passed that Cynthia Mckinney not only must be allowed access at all times without challenge but that the police must all bow to her each time she enters and leaves.

Make no mistake Mckinney would then complain that the bows are either not low enough or that the bows are being done without sincerity.

I say give her her own entrance directly to a damaged elevator whose doors won't open, once closed.

I know, I know, but Jihad Cindy's new "look" is so bizarre ( to my tastes, anyway ) that I thought an older, more attractive picture made the point better.

I just find it astonishing that the MSM ( who never tire of admonishing us about the Evils of Racism ) uncritically report the ravings of this bigot.
