The big difference is Evolution would predict that an intermediate species would likely exist, and could perhaps be found.
Intelligent Design neither asserts that it could not be found, nor that it would be. It would be if the "intelligent designer" wanted it to be there, and wouldn't be there if the "intelligent designer" didn't want it to be there.
ID is a useless theory, isn't it?

Phew! I am so glad these (idiotic) "scientists" found this. I think I can now sleep tonight.

" like Archaeopteryx, the famous fossil that bridged the gap between reptiles and birds."
Thought that one turned out to be something else.

Nope, Archaeopteryx still sits there, with a reptile tail and visible feathers like a bird. It didn't have a large breast bone, so it couldn't fly, but, contrary to the philosiphical meaunderings of the creationists, wing like structures that do not afford flight are clear.
Facts are stubborn things.

Discovered: the missing link that solves a mystery of evolution This is the 24387567928746352429th missing link "discovered".
However the actual missing link is still missing.

"ID is a useless theory, isn't it?"
Preciaely right. It's not a theory at all in that it does not inform or direct scientific inquiry.
That does not mean it is not true, however.

I have a lot of information about all this. I'll be right back to tell you but right now I have to go take my fish for a walk.

I agree. An intelligent designer may have created everything 5 minutes ago, with fossiles of non-existant critters buried in the ground like so many Easter eggs hidden around the yard, and your memories inserted in your head, ready for you to access.
Can't disprove that either. It might be just as true.
