This part bears repeating:

He stood and set the Scotch glass back in its place on my sideboard. “How, we wonder in my time,” he said softly, “can you ignore the better part of a billion people who say aloud that they are willing to kill your children . . . or condone and celebrate the killing of them? And ignore them as they act on what they say? We do not understand you.”

You can just drop that line of thinking right now.

"Three words that any Replayer or time traveler visiting here from a century or more from now would react to first and most emotionally... I"

They are from the story... telling about how we completely missed who the enemy was, and so missed our chance to stop them.

“Let’s imagine,” said the Time Traveler, “that on December eighth, Nineteen forty-one, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke before a joint session of Congress and asked them to declare war on aviation.”

I still stand by what I said.

The Islamic movement is fragmented.

Most Muslims live in dictatorships ruled by repressive measures designed to keep them down.

The bleeding tactics don't seem to be working in Israel all it has entailed is the determination of the Israeli nation to survive.

And most of there attacks have been ineffectual, apart from a few successes most of them are caught before they even start there campaigns in the West.

The IRA with fewer resources fought a harder bloodier fight in Britain.

And in the end we had a peace deal with none of the points the IRA fought for attained.

And the out breeding is a myth, since those born in western countries don't as rule favor large families.

I feel to you the war is lost you seem to see Islam has this huge monolithic force.

I see it as a corrupt weak system that relies in force and repression to survive, it attracts the same individuals as Communism did.

And I remember the same arguments about the Communists and their plans for world domination.

Time and time again we were told we had to be more ruthless that the regimented and ruthless communists who were going to win aided by the 5th columnists in West Europe and the USA.

And they had the mighty Soviet Union and Communist China behind them.

Everyone was so busy looking at the Communist threat nobody noticed the cracks and fault lines within the system.

The same cracks and fault lines that exit in Islamic society

For more than 1200 years, the region where Islam was born has been in chaos with few rest periods in between cataclysms,

This always leads to fundamentalism and religious law where no governments exist.

The idea is that with stability, the fundamentalism will have little reason to continue and will eventually devolve as believer groups become smaller and other more moderate thinking groups take the reigns.

The problem seems to be the idea that somehow results will be noticeable and immediate.

The changes will not be perceptible to anyone but the most intuitive in the short term and need to be measured over decades.

It will happen because it must happen and as long as we stay the course and bring to bear a combination of subtle pressures backed up by military force, we can, in the fullness of time, bring about major changes in this region.

We must use every tool in the box, and understand that gratifications will not come to those in the present time line.

It drives me almost mad to refrain from getting angry at those with such short sighted vision that they cannot project into the future and remain locked tightly into the present.

But, such is life.....

I only ask that people use some modicum of foresight to deal with this issue, or nothing will be done as is and has been the case with so many major issues involving cultures and strategic planning.

Indeed, in 1631 the Sack of Magdeburg was an atrocity committed by an army ostensibly fighting on behalf of Roman Catholicism.

If perpetuated by an Islamic army, some would claim it to be evidence that the entire faith needed to be eradicated. That, of course, did not turn out to be the case. In much of the world (including the US), Roman Catholicism has evolved into one of the most tolerant of faiths.

...The Islamphobes almost have the same immediate goal as those
...what really motivates there self destruct the Islamicphobes so that then they can say...

Your playing of the "islamophobe" card simply undescores the poverty of your ideas.
I prefer the word "islamonausea" or islamocontempt" to define the enemy.

Being a useful idiot, veteran or not, is not a comfortable position to be in today, with the world awakening to a serious threat to everyone, albeit a primitive one.

This is a very good piece of fiction. Will it happen? who knows. I enjoyed the read. Science fiction or near future fiction is just that. FICTION. I believe it is you who are reading to much into this.

Exactly!

I often wonder what would have happened, had not the "New Testament" been written or brought to the forefront.

This process never occurred in Islam, or better said, has yet to occur.

Excellent read, thanks. I'm still terrified by the police state that is being built around us.

Whatever "police state" you presently fear will pale to insignificance, once you experience the "caliphate", administered by illiterate savages...

Just peruse the signs and the "people" at world-wide demonstrations by the "religion of peace", and reflect...

About the three words...

FReeper antiamericans mentions the part about Franklin Roosevelt. I wonder if the three words are supposed to be "Remember Pearl Harbor" -- by which the time traveller, using a phrase already familiar to those of the 20th century, is saying "DON'T get caught unaware again."
