He makes good points about the importance of knowing history, and about the "war on terrorism" being like a "war on aviation".

But our enemy is not all of Islam, but a small part of it.

That small part would like nothing better than to make this a war on all of Islam. So they agitate Muslims against us, and us against Muslims.

Fortunately, our current leaders are too smart to fall for that.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, is it.

You are wrong. The peaceful part of Islam will be forced to join the war on us or be killed.
The present "small part of Islam that is violent" is ruthless enough to carry the fight to anyone that will not buckle under

Repeating inanity has never made it reality.

That "small part of it" would be powerless and ineffectual without the overt and covert support of the "larger part of it".

In this, you are incorrect - and provide us with precisely what Simmons referred to: our inability to come to grips with what we regard as the unthinkable.

Ideas have consequences. The idea of Islam, the meme that it represents is vile and murderous beyond belief. And that is why it must be utterly and completely destroyed.

Do you doubt that, given the opportunity and the means, that the adherents of Islam would see the West destroyed and its survivors enslaved under dhimmitude?

The lessons of history are there for us to see. If only we chose to.

Islam cannot be divided. It is the same koran, the same hadith used by all.

Islam is the enemy

Christianity has never been an enemy of Jews. Yet ask yourself whether a Jew during the Inquisition saw it that way. Whether Christ (or Christians outside Spain) endorsed what torquemada was doing did not change the fact that he wished his version of Christianity to be the version, and would have imposed it if he had the power.

If the jihadis gain enough power, they will kill or enslave every peaceful muslim, and the fact that some of them are peaceful will not matter any more than it matters that most Germans were not Jew-hating nutcases in 1942.

Are they? You're saying EXACTLY what the time traveler said you would say... can't blame the whole religion for a few bad apples. Sound familiar?

You got nothing from this essay. Keep living in your ignorance. You won't last long.

Wrong, Eric. Our enemy is Islam and all of its adherents. READ THE KORAN! Jihad and the killing, enslavement or conversion of infidels is basic to the religion. It is the prime directive for ALL Mohammedans. I used to think I had Moslem friends, people whose living rooms I visited in and who visited me. Conversation with apparently normal Citizens always eventually turned to the necessity for me to Convert. At some point every one of them would mention that some time, when Allah wills it to happen, he might have to fight against me, even kill me. I laughed it off back in the nineties. 9-11 jolted my perception.
I spent large part of my childhood in the midst of a seemingly benign Islam in Istanbul in the middle of the last century. Memories have come back to me of things I heard said to my father by his modern urbane Turkish friends back then. Feti Bey once said to Dad it would be a shame if the call to active war for Islam came soon because it would mean that he would have to kill my father. Dad just laughed. In those days the Turks were very appreciative of the Americans.
