Republicans in TX22 are split on whether or not to have a special election to replace DeLay. DeLay and the Republican leaders do not want the voters to decide; they want to appoint a Republican nominee.
Without argument, though, DeLay supporters are thugs as much as union supporters.

Marsha Rovai, 70, of Richmond, said one of the protesters hit her and another man shoved a sign in her face. She said that when she pushed the sign away, the man pulled her hat down over her face. That sounds like the incident in Philadelphia to me. Except this time it is DeLay supporters attacking people. DeLay supporters are bitter, angry people.

Isn't this the same thing the Dems did in New Jersey?

Delay said on Rush yesterday that he will finish his term and that there will be no special election.

Isn't this the same thing the Dems did in New Jersey? We have time for a special election, though.

They did it past the legal deadline.

I think it is already too late to have a special election for May. I forget all the special election rules but I am fairly certain I am right on that. Or can we have a special election on this at all...

Delay said on Rush yesterday that he will finish his term and that there will be no special election. There will be a special election. The question is the timing. The Republicans want it in November to fill out the remainder of the term to give the TX22 candidate a few weeks of seniority over most of the Class of 2006.

I think it is already too late to have a special election for May. After tomorrow it will be too late. Don't expect DeLay to resign today or tomorrow. DeLay doesn't want a May special election.

Without argument, though, DeLay supporters are thugs as much as union supporters. That's funny, I don't feel like a thug....

That sounds like the incident in Philadelphia to me.Had a gang of thugs suddenly jumped her and started pounding her, then it would be similar. This sounds like "he-said-she-said" with a Dem supporter being given the media attention.

I heard the Paul Bettencourt is being considered for the nomination. I hope this is true he has been a solid conservative.

Tom DeLay is guilty only of "winning elections while Republican."

To a democrat, Delay supporters are "thugs."
While Saddam Hussein, Stalin, serial killers, and rapists were and are merely "misunderstood."

Sounds to me like somebody was excited, probably gesticulating with his sign, and accidentally thumped the old lady.
"Union thugs" indeed...

Rick Perry just announced there will be no special election.
You're just pissed that your boy, Tom Campbell, will not get the nod by the Texas GOP Executive Committee to be the GOP nominee for TX-22.

To a democrat, Delay supporters are "thugs." Unfortunately, those are SSSs words, rather than a leftists reporter's.

He probably will not, rumor is they are looking at Eckles, Talton, and Bettencourt. There are few others but these are the big names.
