A nation of weenies
djf

Posted on 04/07/2006 2:46:47 AM PDT by djf

An American goes out to his driveway, starts his car, and pulls out.

Either because he forgot, or just felt like going with the flow because it was a nice spring day, he doesn't buckle his seatbelt. Red lights. Pulled over. You know the story. His insurance rates will go up. Possible court appearance. Nice little fine. If he doesn't kiss the Kommandants butt nice enough, even possible jail time.

A couple Americans who have been friends for awhile are playing a little game of nickle and dime poker. The music gets a bit loud, knock on the door. "You guys gambling in here?" Can't do that. You're all busted.

A young American woman who maybe got married a bit too early faces a divorce. She decides to go out and possibly see a friend or two and goes to have a drink near home. She lights a cigarette and most people don't mind. But one complains to the bartender, and before you know it, a policeman is there. Same kind of crap. Busted.

An elderly gentleman drives to the store. Because of his wifes prescription costs, he didn't renew his car insurance. By the end of the month, he'll have enough money. But the end of the month is not soon enough, he gets stopped for a burned out brake light, and the rest is already history.

Meanwhile, Pedro something-or-whatever with a Z in his name wanders across the southern desert. We know NOTHING about his history. We know NOTHING about his motivation. We know NOTHING about his educational background or cultural leanings. I guess if we're lucky, he truly is Mexican or Guatemalan, and not actually a terrorist in disguise.

No problemo. No jail time. No deportation. No community service. No NCI computer runs. No fine.

There was a time when Americans made the rules. When our representatives truly represented.

I guess now they represent invaders. Or anyone who will give them the all precious vote.

Maybe we need the Mexicans. At least they won't sit down, shut up, and take it.

In my eyes it's outrageous that one can't sip a beer from a glas in the open enjoying the spring sun after work ... what kind of live is it you are willingly living there ?

Maybe they leave because they won't put up with the crap.

We stay.

Way more worried about Katie Couric than if the government should be able to tell us when/how/where/if we should live our lives.

And what are we doing?? Sitting on our hands while our "elected representatives" (read: masters) are busy feeling important.

I always wondered why I needed government approval to drive on roads that I paid for. Supposedly because they would make sure every driver was qualified, insured, sober, etc. Now I get stopped at roadblocks and have to show my license supposedly to check that I'm sober but actually they mostly happen right after the first of the month. At this point in history, major crimes are being ignored in favor of harassing and busting law-abiding citizens for small violations. This can't continue.

Just seems like EVERY LAW THAT CRIMINALIZES SOMETHING GOES AGAINST AMERICANS.

And the crimmigrants just do what they want. And congress is more worried about the Hispanic vote. And who the hell knows who is pulling Bushes strings, I don't have a clue.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Neither Congress nor the Courts or even the ex or current president are responsible for the future of OUR COUNTRY.

They will all just sit back and collect their pensions while many hard working patriotic Americans get screwed by the company they worked for all their lives.

Any behavior can be criminalized if a majority wants to.
Enforcement however depends on the will of officials.

Not true in the least.

I have had this same anger burning in my belly for years. The truth is its easier for our gov't to bust us than go through the hassle of busting them. Why bother when you can just pull someone who has a little cash and a stake in where they live, charge them a couple hundred bucks and know that not only will you get it but they will go through the hassles to "be a good citizen".

The truth is that all of these are local level laws that should be the easiest to stop.

By the way, if you lived in Texas you would have added one more.

"A man on business from Chicago goes into the hotel bar where he is staying to have some beers and food, and watch the game after sealing the deal. By the third quarter an officer sees him cheering louder than the officer deems reasonable. The officer asks the bartender how many the man has had. "Six" the bartender replies.

The officer confronts the man who defensively tells the officer "sir I am watching this game and staying in this hotel, did the hotel manager complain or a customer?'

"No but its illegal to be drunk in a bar"

"I am not drunk" the man replies.

.Officer escorts the man to the lobby where he is asked to take a breathalyser. On principle the man refuses and is hauled away to jail for the night.

When we become a nation of lawbreakers, then the government has complete control over us and our lives. The only thing they have left to accomplish is to take away our firearms. On that day, we become serfs.
