Now why in the world would I do that?
Perhaps this line of questioning is being pursued in an effort to create a definitive position on the subject.
With an endorsement from the owner of the site, some of the "party before principle" members might feel that they occupy a superior position.
JMHO, of course.

" I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm."IMO brute force took this country, that and very hard work has built it to be what it is/was, when the time comes to take it back, it will be needed again......... to ignore history is a fatal mistake

By the way, the feds get several times the amount the state gets in taxes. I recommend repealing the 16th and abolishing the income tax and going back to the Founder's original intent for funding the federal government. Of course, I also recommend reducing it to only those functions actually authorized by the Constitution, thereby making it much smaller and easier to control and to pay for.
Thanks very much for your contribution.

I would think of it this way in such cases:
Vote FOR the most conservative in the primary
Vote AGAINST the most liberal in the general election

It's perhaps just a pendantic point, but you have to start with conservative principles, then get republicans (or the occasional democrat) to fit those.Naturally. On rare occasions do I ever come in agreement with any democrat. The last time that happend was when Zell Miller supported this president and gave the keynote address at the RNC convention.

According to the stuff you and the mods let the evolutionist get away with you could have fooled me with that title.you seem to be confusing Conservatism with Evangelical Christianity.
Liberalism is a Cancer on America.
Creationism is a Cancer on Conservatism

The most terrifying threat from a Demcrat Congress majority would be Charles B Rangel (D-NY-15th)as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. All together with Speaker Pelosi.
The threat of nontaxpayers dictating to the taxpayers is an irreverable power shift we can not allow.

I'm right there with you, brother. - but Jim never said that he was giving up anything. He just stated that it wasn't the only issue in play.

Since when is science considered liberal? Since when does conservatism = Protestant fundementalism/Bible scientific literalism? There actually are Christians, believers in God, who do not have a problem with God the creator using evolution as a tool to create the creatures on the Earth and humankind.
Studying science proves God! The physical laws of the universe are elegant and awe-inspiring. I cannot and will not speak for you or anyone else, but to me, further understanding of science has lead me closer to God.
Assuming that all scientists and evolutionists are atheists is just wrong. Assuming that all conservatives are Protestant fundementalists is also wrong. We have several Jewish and catholic FReepers who sincerely add to our conservative cause. If they don't believe the Bilbe intended us to take every single word as scientific fact, does that mean they're not conservative and should be muzzled/banned from Free Repulbic?

Not really, I was just wondering HIS, personal position on the subject. I don't see him chat very often. Airing his personal opinion on the matter doesn't or wouldn't change the site goals.

Jim,
My heartfelt thanks for founding and keeping this forum running.
But we are going to have to agree to disagree.
IMO The President and the Senate have sold out the middle class to the corporations (via Off-shoring and illegal Immigration).
A strong middle class has been the one thing that has differentiated our Republic from Britain, France, Germany and Italy.
I shudder when I think of the whole U.S. becoming like east LA.
IT'S WRONG and I will not be compliclit to it by being quiet. Why are you ?
