If bush does this I will be PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a pile of clinton.
What a pile of clinton.
Yup, been going on for a long time.
"Anyone heard of this?"
I thought we were previously will to discuss releasing Pollard if Israel admitted what he was doing on their behalf.
He'll only do it if they make a sizable contribution to the Clinton library.
why would Bush do this?
Just to p*ss off the base again?
this is getting insane, the guy is seemingly at war with his own core supporters.
Way before that. He's been in prison for twenty years, since the Reagan administration.
Wait a minute...clintoon can't pardon...why would Bush pardon so contributions could be given to bildabeast's library?
Not true. Read the article more carefully:
In failing health, Jonathan Pollard is now in his 21st year of that sentence.
Maybe they were waiting for Weinberger to die.
I don't believe this for a second. Seymour Hirsch wrote a devastating article about Pollard in the New Yorker a few years ago. The article was well received, which told me that there is no strong stomach among the Lefties (except the hardcore lefties) for fighting for Pollard. I would be very surprised if Bush freed him.
The Case Against Johnathon Pollard
Why Pollard Should Never Be Released (The Traitor)

"Anyone heard of this?" Nah, and I think it's news to President Bush too.
Maybe he wants to drop him in Teheran and have the Israelis pick him up there.
He's been on this planet 21 more years than he should have. We used to execute spies, and that's a tradition that should never have gone away.
What is it saying? That Pollard was not given the measly 2-4 years (LOL) because Aldrich Ames revealed the identities of American Agents in the Soviet Union? Is that to be read Pollard was accused of revealing the American agents through the Israelis, and thereby got the long sentence, but he and the Israelis were framed because the accuser was none other than Ames himself covering his own tracks?
Eh, interesting storyline for a novel. Anyway, he sold satellite photos no? How would he know anything about agents in the Soviet Union?
Fishy story, and vague.
At the last minute Clinton got the agreement from Bibi and then said......too bad. Pollard stays in prison.
I found it to be confusing too.
Esther Pollard has been caught in lies like this before.
Pollard arrested in 1985.
How come "life" never means "life". He's been convicted and no mitigating evidence has come out. He should be happy he didn't go the way of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg(sp?).
OK...I've never followed this that closely..what I could remember is how many times someone mainly Israel has tried to get him released and every time that request has been turned down. So his wife is good at lying...nuff said. ;o)
"Maybe they were waiting for Weinberger to die."
That is a very astute observation.
What prisoner doesn't game to have failing health?
Just to p*ss off the base again? this is getting insane, the guy is seemingly at war with his own core supporters.
Naw, the base has been getting p*ssed ON for months now. Really no difference. They don't care anyway.
I find it interesting how many posters here are primed and ready to skewer Bush over an unconfirmed report. Bush hasn't even done anything yet, and people are ready to jump down his throat.
You actually believe this story from his wife ?
Pollard is a traitor, to this country and to it's ally Israel.
Wrong. He's been in prison since 1985.
Thanks for the article link.
First impression: What the heck was that about the Afghan rebel arms trading? It's nutty but gets short-shrift.
Second impression: Seymour Hersh wrote the article? Why shouldn't I assume it's disinformation then?
Third: The Soviet angle. Seems to be a lot of people saying the Russians "must" have got the info via Pollard. Really? Could that information be gathered from other spies, say Aldrich Ames or other moles? And if Ames had a hand in the "report" given to the judge, that's intriguing.
And Casey tells Hersh, supposedly: "For your information, the Israelis used Pollard to obtain our attack plan against the U.S.S.R. all of it. The coordinates, the firing locations, the sequences. And for guess who? The Soviets."
Hmm.. Why would a naval intelligence officer at Pollard's status have access to that information? Sounds suspicious by overstatement. Nevertheless he's an admitted spy.
Fourth: Pollard comes accross as having mental health issues.
BTW, do you know of any articles stating similar not sourced to Hersh?
I remember a previous thread on Pollard, where some posters, at least one of whom claimed to have been involved in intelligence work, raised this allegation against Pollard.
I was surprised too, since the little I knew about the case had led me to believe that Pollard had been involved in sigint, and that was the type of info he had revealed.
I read some more about the case, and it appears that the story about the US agents/sources in the Soviet Union had been quite widely spread.
It seems quite clear that the real culprit in those cases were Aldrich Ames.
Ah. I was trying to figure out why this story was coming out now and you gave me the reason. Of course it is VoldOlmert and the destruction of 25,000 Jews' lives in Judea and Samaria. VoldOlmert needs a carrot to sell to the Israeli electorate so he can kick the crap out of 25,000 Jewish settlers.
I agree....poor Bush...I just wonder if all these folks would have preferred kerry? I only posted this to see if anyone had heard any such thing. My intent was not to have folks to start screaming and cussing at our president.
Well maybe some of the information came to the USSR via Pollard. But some of the Hersh article's insinuations seemed a stretch to me. That Afghan arms dealing allegation seems quite a stretch NOT to make up.
He let Sandy Berger get off lightly. Might as well let this guy go too.
Just when you think Bush's poll numbers could not get any lower, then comes this. Rove must have lost his senses.
I didn't know Bush did that...I thought it was the DOJ?
A belated April Fool. Nothing to worry about.
Much like the Duke lacrosse team, President Bush is, to some here, guilty until proven innocent.
No need to wait and see if the facts are accurate.
Isn't that the truth. Holding an opinion until we get the real facts appears to have flown out the window. I mean Wednesday is tomorrow and even Monday is just a few days away. Geezzz...LOL
