They invoke the names of Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez, but the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who have marched nationwide are not following one charismatic leader.
Instead, they're loosely guided by Hispanic advocacy groups, churches and labor unions - organizations that have helped transform isolated campaigns in major cities into a broad movement with a coordinated strategy.
"There is no one leader, and that's a good thing," said Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican-American Political Association, a central organizer of rallies in Southern California. "It's a shared leadership among people who we don't even always know."
What began with a national organizational meeting just two months ago has resulted in unions blanketing workers with fliers at hotels, restaurants and stores, Roman Catholic churches accelerating their campaign of preaching to immigrants and pressuring politicians, and Hispanic community leaders working with radio deejays to give protesters detailed instructions: wear white, remain peaceful and be positive. And when marchers were criticized for carrying Mexican flags, organizers quickly spread the word to carry U.S. flags instead.

A movement of the people as it were.

Demonstrations, From Coast to Coast
As an exercise in citizen journalism, we put out a call to readers to attend yesterday's demonstrations in support of illegal immigration, film them, and send us the resulting video. We didn't know what to expect, but the results were gratifying. We got lots of submissions, both of video and photographs. As a result, we've put together a Power Line Video of yesterday's rallies, from Seattle to Washington, D.C., which you can watch here.
In fact, as our video shows, the New York demonstration (like those in some other cities) was organized and controlled in substantial part by International A.N.S.W.E.R., the Communist organization that we have written about many times, most recently here. A.N.S.W.E.R.'s National Coordinator, Brian Becker, was prominent at the New York rally; he is the man in the blue shirt on the right in the photo below. Click to enlarge:

Note A.N.S.W.E.R.'s large "amnesty" banner with the words "Full Rights For All Immigrants!" as well as the Che Guevara banner.
International A.N.S.W.E.R. passed out thousands of mass-produced, yellow and black signs with exactly the same message. You can see them prominently displayed in our video footage from New York.

What is happening under the radar is that the alien lobby, certain elements of radical Islam, and some on the Left share common goals, tactics, and exploitations of our system and society.
Not a conspiracy, but rather a "coming together on common points."

FREEPER ACTIVISM
EXHIBIT ONE These matches and boycotts by illegals to hurt the economy could be a violation of RICO laws----under RICO, organized activity that deliberately hurts the US economy is prosecutable. Report the activities of these boycott organizing groups to the US Dept of Justice---email ASKDOJ@USDOJ.gov.
EXHIBIT TWO Boycotts could also violate The Hobbs Act if public officials are aidng and abetting these activities----The Hobbs Act covers extortion by public officials, as follows: 2403 Hobbs Act -- Extortion By Force, Violence, or Fear.
The Hobbs Act regulates extortion and robbery, which Congress has determined have a substantial effect on interstate and foreign commerce by reason of their repetition and aggregate effect on the economy. Therefore, the proscribed offenses fall within the category of crimes based on the Commerce Clause whose "de minimis character of individual instances arising under [the] statute is of no consequence." Primary investigative jurisdiction of offenses in 18 U.S.C. § 1951 lies with the FBI.
The Inspector General's Office of Investigations, Division of Labor Racketeering (formerly the Office of Labor Racketeering), United States Department of Labor, is also authorized to investigate violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1951 in labor-management disputes involving the extortion of property from employers by reason of authority conferred on nvestigators as Special Deputy United States Marshals. Supervisory jurisdiction over 18 U.S.C. § 1951 is exercised by the following offices with respect to the offenses noted:
1. Extortion under color of official right or extortion by a public official through misuse of his/her office is supervised by the Public Integrity Section, Criminal Division.
2. Extortion and robbery in labor-management disputes is supervised by the Labor-Management Unit of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section, Criminal Division.
3. All other extortion and robbery offenses not involving public officials or labor-management disputes are supervised by the Terrorism and Violent Crimes Section, Criminal Division.

For one thing, I'm pretty sure that In-n-Out Burgers do not hire illegal aliens. It's the one fast food chain that I can go to in San Jose, and they understand what I am saying!!!! They all speak perfect English!!!

Faith is not about what churchmen do or don't do. It's about your own relationship with the Son of God who saved you.
It would be a very useful thing, over the next three days, to find where you left that relationship and pick it up again.

I am Christian. I am also an American. A citizen of the nation that has promoted the fairest and best way of life ever known to man. Also the nation that has sent forth millions to spread the word of Jesus far more than any other.
But the RCC is not what Jesus had in mind. Art treasures? Property? Indulgences? All are a big part of the Church. But they don't feed the poor or spread the true word.
If Jesus came back today, he would chase the bishops out.

If Congress and the President are ultimately only willing to offer a "virtual wall" to prevent unauthorized entry of foreign aliens into this country over our southern border with Mexico, why should the "estimated 11 million" "undocumented' aliens currently living in the US be offered anything more than "virtual amnesty"in return?
"Amnesty": an act by authority by which a pardon is granted to a large number of persons for past transgressions. Interstingly derived from the same root as amnesia.
"Virtual Amnesty". You can stay as long as and only as long as,
a) you have a job no american wants -- if an American shows up at your place of employment and asks for your job at any rate of pay up to 200% of your current wage and such person is ready able and capable of assuming your duties, you can move aside and leave. You have 60 days to find new employment or leave the country;
b) all your pay is reported as income to governmental authority and social security and income tax is properly withheld and paid (aliens are not eligible to receive social security benefits, the money would fund the inadequate SS reserve);
c) you pay all your own expenses and do not receive any public assistance for housing, medical care, food stamsp, aid to dependant children, or public education;
d) if you do receive public assistance, such as for emergency medical care, you will reimburse the full costs of any assistance received; if you are here with a spouse, family or 'domestic partner' de jure, your offspring are not U.S citizens, you waive that right on their behalf by remaining here.;
e) if you have children of school age, public authority will provide you with books, software and programs authorized for home schooling families. Statiistics indicate this is a much effective and valuable educational assistance than participating in public education;
f) you will not engage while in the United States in any political activity;
g) in particular you will not vote or attempt to vote;
h) membership, participation, active support or conspiracy with any organized criminal gang shall be the equivalent of a "third strke" felony. Conviction of same shall mean immediate and permanent deportation or incarceration for life at the option of the government. A criminal history prior to US entry shall be grounds for immediate deportation with a permanent bar to reentry;
i) If you commit any "malum per se" or "specific intent" crimes while present in the U.S, you shall serve your sentence and then be deported with a permanent bar to reentry;
j) At all times, any and all covered persons shall carry upon their person, sufficient and accurate identifying information as to the covered persons, identity, place of residence in the US., country of national citizenship, date of birth, place of birth, names of parents, and dates of entry into the United States; and,
k) At no time shall a covered person occupy, hold, or be compensated for performing any public sector job or position.
Conditions of limited license to remain in the US:
By electing to remain within US territory on or after 30 days after the enactment of this legislation, a covered individual voluntarily waives any protections of law, including any application of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, and consents at any reasonable time and upon any reasonable circumstance, such as but not limited to in any public place at any time, to being detained for a reasonable time without suspicion or other cause by law enforcement in order for governmental authority to verify the persons identity and compliance with these "tempory worker" statutes.
"Jail Tax" All covered persons and only such persons shall be subject to a 10% tax on income earned over and above all other taxes and assessments on income, to fund reimbursement of state and federal penal incarceration of undocumented aliens
Citizenship: If and when an applicant can affirmatively demonstrate 10 continuous years of compliance with the foregoing, or alternatively upon completion of a full term of service with any branch of the Armed Services of the United States resulting in an honorable discharge; and,
If and when the applciant can demonstrate fluency in the English language; and,
If and when the applicant can demonstrate a 12th grade equivalency of knowledge of American history and American literature and American Laws
Said applicant may then apply for American citizenship.
Notwithstanding any of the above, not more than 750,000 complying alien persons shall in any year become citizens of the United States.

No, artwork and property (church buildings?) don't feed the poor. Money collected from the Church feeds the poor. Catholic Charities is huge. (OK, hugh.)

To: LouAvul
Who are these people? Take a look...
This is not about workers rights or fair immigration policies. It has to do with international communist/socialist orgs looking to gain the political upperhand in the U.S..
Posted by JeffHead Jeff links to Mexica.org's 'after protest' pic fest. You can see there what the marchers thought they were marching for.
A poster for Fridays march. March 31. This poster lists the Latino orgs that are promoting the protests. They are all communist/socialist front orgs.
Here is my analysis of what is going on behind the scenes.
Here is some evidence that 'amnesty' increases illegal entries. These people knew before the demonstrations that the time was ripe.
Smith Act of 1940 This is the U.S. statute that ought to apply to the organized gathering of tens of thousands of foreign nationals calling for the overthrow of our country.
H.R. 4437 At this link you will find a good exegesis of the only bill that doesn't offer some type of amnesty/pathway to citizenship/excuses for illegal entry. It is harsh on employers but has reasonable protections for employers who verify documents that are later shown to be false. It explains that the databases necessary are already in place. It provides for border security.
Understand that the provision that the protesters say is 'racist,' that makes illegals felons, was inserted by the Dems a short time ago. That clarifies why Hillary happened to discover the immigration issue a week before the marches. Why she demonized Republicans as "making Jesus a criminal."
Keep in mind just who organized these protests. Who provided the tens of thousands of T-shirts, the thousands of professionally made signs, the hours and hours of promotion on Spanish language radio and TV stations. It has been noticed that Islamic orgs names and logos appear on some of these signs as well. Remember that NEA teachers and administrators are the ones who have assisted the march organizers by providing bussing for their students, hoisting Mexican flags at school and overlooking the truancy.
Don't forget that the last two Presidential elections were nearly 50/50. Think about how our Congress is looking for a way to appease these foreign nationals through legislation. No election necessary. The outcome of legalizing 11 million illegals and encouraging more to come will be a solid lock for the left forevermore in national elections. We dont need an immigration bill. We need and want a border security and illegal aliens bill. An immigration/guest worker bill can come after that is done.
Mexico is Rich- Mexican wealthy play American taxpayers for suckers
Good thread for any that missed it. It should really make you mad.
Every dollar spent in U.S. taxes for social services for illegal aliens frees up additional cash to be sent south as part of the annual remittances which provided $20 billion in 2005. According to the CNN news show Lou Dobbs Tonight (3/21/05), "Remittances, as they're called, are expected to become Mexico's primary source of income this year, surpassing the amount of money that Mexico makes on oil exports for the first time ever."
Mayans in Chiapas Region Convert to Islam
The bill that was just defeated in the Senate was an amnesty, plain and simple. But take a look at what these treasonous scumbags tried to hide in it. They will be back and we can expect more of this if we do not act decisively.
Hidden Bombs (Extremely Important Article on Immigration)
The second nasty surprise? Just before the committee approved the bill on the evening of March 27, Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) offered the "DREAM Act" as an amendment. It passed on a voice vote. The DREAM Act is a nightmare. It repeals a 1996 law that prohibits state universities from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens. The principle, of course, is that no illegal alien should be entitled to receive a taxpayer-subsidized benefit that out-of-state U.S. citizens can't get. But the committee's bill allows illegals to be treated better than those U.S. citizens on tuition.

The Catholic Church, in it's Catechism, does NOT condone illegal aliens breaking the law, and it teaches that nations have the right to establish and enforce immigration policies. In addition, it says that immigrants have a duty to be grateful to their new home nation, and to assimilate. I have posted this in other threads, and will keep posting it. I am tired of hearing that the Catholic Church is behind this crap. As a Catholic, I MOST CERTAINLY AM NOT!! Certain members of the hierarchy ARE, however, and shame on them. They must be opposed. Cardinal Mahony, and all his fellow travellers, are apparently ignoring the doctrine of the Church in order to advance their own secular marxist agenda. I hope Benedict smacks them down, but I am not counting on it.
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church....
"2241 ...Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants'duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens."

How do you think Jesus would treat our immigration laws? He would urge compassion and a consideration for those who have been here a good while, with kids in school and a life established.
Exactly what the Catholic bishops and the Senate are urging.
Jesus stood with the poor and with those who were shunned by Jewish society.
There is nothing to indicate in any of His actions or words that He would be on the side of those screaming for repatriation for every illegal here.
He would also be advocating for allowing more legal immigrants every year, and streamlining the process.

You best check the policy of the US Conference of Catholic bishops.
The US Bishops support an earned legalization program, and have, since 2003.
And John Paul II did as well.
I'll stick with Church teaching, as in the quote from the Catechism above. Hopefully, Benedict will show more common sense, and will reign in these fools (but I am not holding my breath). At the end of the day, all we can do is pray, and then leave it in the hands of God (well, we can also whine and complain a lot too!!).

No, it does not rule out a great many things. However, if we pass an "earned legalization program" like Mahony and the other marxists are pushing, it will simply invite more abuse than it has already caused. Once we reward the illegal aliens for cheating, breaking our laws, and jumping to the head of the line, we will teach everyone else south of the border that they should follow suit. These people are swarming over the border not so much to get a better life for themselves, but to grab the free welfare goodies from the United States government that the Supreme Court is forcing us to provide. If we cut off the free housing assitance, medical treatment, and public education to the illegals (things which most U.S. citizens can't even obtain!!), how many of them would simply turn around and go back home on their own accord?? If you give something away for free, people will show up from miles around to take you up on it. If these illegals worked as hard building up Mexico, and making it a better place to live, as they do sneaking in here and sponging off our welfare system, and contributing nothing in return, Mexico would soon become a "paradise" which would rival the United States. But I digress.
I fear you are correct. Benedict will probably not see it this way, and as such will either do nothing, or will come down on Mahony's side. However, even if he does, that still doesn't make it right.

That ousted, arrogant sack of lard (and that's just the "hairdo"!) actually spewed that? Amazing.The quote I used came straight out of the article:
"There is no one leader, and that's a good thing," said Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican-American Political Association, a central organizer of rallies in Southern California. "It's a shared leadership among people who we don't even always know."
(and that's just the "hairdo"!)Rumor has it he uses Crisco to achieve that look.
