Al-Qaida Figure Backs Iraqi Insurgents
Top al-Qaida Figure Ayman Al-Zawahri Urges Support for Iraqi Insurgents in Video
The Associated Press (snipped)
CAIRO, Egypt - No. 2 al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri praised insurgents in Iraq, particularly Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and called on all Muslims to support them in a video posted Thursday on the Internet.
The video was dated with an Islamic month corresponding to November 2005 and al-Zawahri mentions an Oct. 23 earthquake that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan. But it appeared to be the first time the 28-minute video has been made public.
It was not clear why the video was not released soon after the date it was allegedly filmed. . .

So f'in yawn... so the Z-man had some tape made last year and released.
Who cares... he is always saying something stupid and 'unbeliveable' yet people contantly ACT surpirsed and shocked at these things.
MUCH more importantly than a stupid tape by ZarkFark are the Saddam docs, AND the belligerence of Iran.
I fart in the general direction of Zarqaqi.

Six insurgents killed in Afghanistan as troops launch new operation (snipped)
KABUL (AFP) - Afghan and coalition soldiers killed six insurgents in eastern Afghanistan as they launched a new 2,500-troop operation with predawn air and ground strikes, the US military said.
The insurgents were killed as part of Operation Mountain Lion in eastern Kunar province, where seven children were killed Tuesday in a rocket attack blamed on militants allied to the ousted Taliban regime.
"The operation began with predawn air and ground assaults today (Wednesday) in the Pech River Valley, an area notorious for terrorist activity," the US-led coalition said in a statement.
The insurgents were killed in a neighbouring district of the province, which borders Pakistan.
The operation, involving 2,500 troops from the Afghan army and various coalition regiments, aimed to "disrupt insurgents' activities, deny them sanctuary and prevent their ability to resupply," it said.
It was a "comprehensive effort to kill, incapacitate or capture terrorists operating in the region" that would continue "as long as necessary." . . .
Zawahiri was affiliated with this militant group and now almost 1,000 of them are free.

Pakistani gunships target compound
Militants, foreigners killed in raid following bombing in Karachi

(snipped)
(CNN) -- Pakistani helicopter gunships converged Wednesday night on a suspected terrorist compound near the Afghan border, killing "a number" of militants, including some foreigners, according to a military statement read on Pakistani television.
The military targeted the compound near Miran Shah in the country's North Waziristan province, a tribal area, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.
A U.S. intelligence official said that Pakistan was still trying to determine who was killed or captured and that it was too early to tell if any high-level terrorist operatives were among them. . .
I bet that is what Operation Mountain Lion was about!
"Zawahiri was affiliated with this militant group and now almost 1,000 of them are free.
Related???"
Didn't see that. Not sure but strange timing.
I have a feeling about this . . .
"I bet that is what Operation Mountain Lion was about!"
Plus the Pakistanis going into Waziristan on the other side of the border.
"No more Tora Boras."
I don't like the timing of the video (not that any time is a good time . . )
Hey i saw a video with Elvis, with Zawahiri to...It was cool you should have seen it to...
The video really sounds like it was taped in advance in reference to this gamaa islamiya release.
Hey, hows come Uncle Binny wasn't on the tape?
I'll be looking for the text. I'm flying blind on this one as I don't know Arabic. So I have to wait for a translation, but it sounds "familiar" . . .
"In the footage, al-Zawahri appears sitting, wearing a white turban and a grey robe with a microphone pinned to it. An automatic weapon is leaning against a brown backdrop behind him."

Well, something's up.
Wishful thinking that Zawahiri is toast.
"Hey, hows come Uncle Binny wasn't on the tape?"
I doubt they are together. Zawahiri is more prolific with his videos. They strongly correlate to future attacks . . .

Good thinking, Cal. It may well be related.

Irans Ahmadinejad: West will burn in nations fury
Wed. 12 Apr 2006
Iran Focus (snipped)
Tehran, Iran, Apr. 12 Irans radical President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a fiery sermon demanded that Irans enemies, or the West, bow down before Iran and apologize for having held back Tehrans nuclear program for three years. He also warned the West that it would burn in the fire of the nations fury.
Those who insulted the Iranian nation and set back Irans movement for progress for several years must apologise, Ahmadinejad said at a rally in the eastern town of Rashtkhar. His comments were aired on state television and carried by the official news agency.
You must bow down to the greatness of the Iranian nation, he said, addressing the West.
He added that if the United States continued to seek to use bullying tactics then every nation of the world would chant Death to America and Death to Israel.
If you do not return to monotheism and worshipping god and refuse to accept justice then you will burn in the fire of the nations fury, Ahmadinejad said. . .

Al-Zawahri - Osama bin Laden's deputy in al-Qaida, who is believed to be hiding in Afghanistan or Pakistan - said he was making the video to mark the fourth anniversary of the December 2001 battle of Tora Bora, in which US forces besieged bin Laden and al-Qaida fighters in mountainous caves of Afghanistan.
He denounced Bush as the "Caesar of Washington" and accused him of lying about progress in the war on terror.
"Bush, son of Bush, eliminating Israel is the duty of every believer," al-Zawahri said. "Beggarly clerics ... and every bankrupt propaganda machine is trying to convince the people to bring change by peaceful means, but the Islamic nation knows that its path is jihad (holy war) and the bearing of arms."
"By God, we're supposed to stick to peaceful means while the enemies of Islam engage in every violent, barbaric and base action and Israel is armed to the teeth with every sort of conventional and non-conventional weapon?" he said.
"If we commit to peaceful action, they will demand we adhere to international laws and treaties that mean nothing to them. If we adhere to that, they will ask us to impose constraint on what they call terrorism and war on Israel. Then if we adhere to that, they will demand we recognize Israel and establish normal relations with it," he said.
He pointed to Israeli opposition to Hamas' entering Palestinian elections. He did not mention Hamas' victory in the voting, a possible indication the video was made before the January elections.
al Qaeda made #2. heh.
We have a few Arabic translators on this forum. So we can get it translated.
bttt
Maybe. This was made in November. Z could be toast. He is still a figure head though.
Why would they release an old tape, when Zawahiri's made 3 tapes after that date? And a 28 minute tape to boot.
Here is the full text of that speech with an analysis by freeper StillProud2Befree:
danke.
The video has been held for 4 months? Sounds a little longer than the others. But I'm just guessing. I think it usually is a matter of weeks or a couple months.
"Why would they release an old tape, when Zawahiri's made 3 tapes after that date? And a 28 minute tape to boot."
Very good point.
Tora Bora
"Caesar of Washington"
Israel
Rome, DC, Israel
If that tape was referring for support for Gamaa Islamiya, then it would be held for release to coincide with the militants being sent out.
Thanks.
I watched it on CNN International yesterday. Their translator was having trouble keeping up. I like this one a whole lot better.
You know things aren't going well when he rants on live TV for several sentences and the translator breaks in with a phrase or two. (You know they are missing most of it.)
"Rome, DC, Israel"
All three have been consistently threatened.
I remember you were the one who picked up on the "Fleet" reference in the Oct 2004 UBL election tape.
Does the Swastika have anything to do with Rome? (yeah, real good, the Italian asking this question!)
Because this is the video they made after they got the missiles:

I'd sure like to see the rest of the transcript.
I'm tired and heading to sleep to mull this over.
Goodnight to all.
That could be.
The timing on all this coming together at once can't be coincidence.
Night!
Yes, the fleet thing was me.
I'll do some more digging tomorrow.
Oh, the QE2 was under threat today. We discussed that at about the same time.
Hmmmm...

I'll be back tomorrow.
Thanks Vel.
The timing is suspect. Makes me think sumpin's up.

US turns attention to al-Qaeda in Iran (snipped)
By Josh Meyer in Washington
March 22, 2006
AMERICAN intelligence officials, already focused on Iran's potential for building nuclear weapons, are struggling to solve a more immediate mystery: the relationship between the Tehran leadership and a contingent of al-Qaeda leaders living in the country.
Some officials, citing highly classified electronic eavesdropping, believe Iran is hosting much of al-Qaeda's remaining brains trust and allowing the senior operatives freedom to communicate and help plan the terrorist network's operations.
They suggest the President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, may be forging an alliance with al-Qaeda operatives as a way to expand Iran's influence or, at least, that he is looking the other way as al-Qaeda leaders in Iran collaborate with their counterparts elsewhere.
"Iran is becoming more and more radicalised and more willing to turn a blind eye to the al-Qaeda presence there," one US counterterrorism official said. . .
Thanks for the ping.
Cal, I had and can't find it, a post that one of the nazi groups planned a ruckus at a sports event, is there another big Olympics type game coming up? Or soccor ball.
There have been several reports on the nazi type groups being active and also a couple reports of Russia cracking down on the nazi type groups.
Sorry I can't give you more info, but know they are active.
Given the timing of both the original taping and the release, it was primarily aimed not at Egypt, Iraq, or Afghanistan, but Israel.
If the tape was made in November, then its call for the elimination of Israel should be put in context. This tape was made probably just a few days or weeks (Nov 2005) after Iran set off international outrage for saying Israel should be "wiped off the map" (10/26/05). Then it was held 4-5 months and released . . . on Passover (4/12/06).
Most important, given the context and timing of what was going on inside Iran in November when this was taped, and now what is going on inside Iran this week when it was released, it openly and directly allies al Qaeda with Iranian strategic objectives.
Iraq is no longer the central battlefield for them, but is being used to support a larger and globally unifying objective - - Israel.

Iran: President Says Israel Should Be 'Wiped Off Map'
By Golnaz Esfandiari (snipped)
Prague, 27 October 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Irans President Mahmud Ahmadinejad yesterday cited comments by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic revolution, when he declared, "As the imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map."
Ahmadinejad told an audience of 3,000 students that there was "no doubt the new wave [of attacks] in Palestine will soon wipe off this disgraceful blot from the face of the Islamic world." . . .
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said in reaction to the remarks that Iran represents a danger for Israel. "Today, Israelis saw two extreme examples of violent language, where leaders in the Muslim world called for the destruction of Israel," he said. "Both the Iranian president and the leader of Hamas, al-Zahar, talked openly about destroying Israel. It is not surprising that there are people out there who take this extreme language, this violent language, and transform it into violent actions."
The United States also expressed concern over Ahmadinejads remarks. U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said last night in Washington: "I think you are starting to see, through some of these remarks, some of the true views and intentions of this [Iranian] regime, and I think that it only serves to underscore our concern, as well as the international communities concern, about Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons." . .

". . . He pointed to Israeli opposition to Hamas' entering Palestinian elections. He did not mention Hamas' victory in the voting, a possible indication the video was made before the January elections.
In the last al-Zawahri video, aired on March 4 he congratulated Hamas on its victory and offered support.
Al-Zawahri appeared in two other videos in January. On January 19, bin Laden released an audiotape, parts of which were aired on al-Jazeera. It was the first message from the al-Qaida leader in more than a year. . ."
Everything they do is aimed at Israel.
I agree. And by aiming at Israel, they're aiming at drawing in the US.
Note: the tape would have been made during ramadan 2005 (10/4 to 11/2/2005).
"Everything they do is aimed at Israel."
True, but it is much more focused and pronounced now. The past year has been a sea change in some very concrete ways.
"Note: the tape would have been made during ramadan 2005 (10/4 to 11/2/2005)."
Duly noted.

Pulling out one sentence that piqued my curiosity, especially when you consider Percy Cox and the number 1919.
****
He states: You have to understand that we are one nation and we don't recognize Sykes-Picot and the maps of Percy Cox, whether you like it or not.
Sykes-Picot Agreement
The Sykes-Picot Agreement of May 9, 1916 was a secret understanding between the governments of Britain and France defining their respective spheres of post-World War I influence and control in the Middle East. The boundaries of this agreement still remain in much of the common border between Syria and Iraq.
