Good point. How about "nuanced layered complexity," or "complex layered nuances," maybe "complex nuanced layers." Just think, if the Giggolo had won, we'd be hearing this all the time.

Howell Raines taught Jason Blair how to lie.

Turns out Blair became a "Diversity Fire".

They buy each other's books and give each other awards.

They'll never learn. They are SO inbred. It's like holding an AA Meeting with a two drink minimum.

"Layered complexity" = "Share The Blame"

Newsrooms are like college campuses. I've spent plenty of time in both. It never occurs to these people that there are other serious points of view. They all assume their colleagues share identical attitudes. And on that one, of course, they are sadly pretty much correct.

"The paper said in an editor's note that it had been "taken in".

In the slimy parlance of the NYT, "editor's notes" is the camoflage term for "corrections". It's list of "editor's notes" is regularly buried on page 96 under Preparation H advertisements.

He also didn't dwell on his successes, including the seven Pulitzer prizes the Times won in 2001, his first year on the job.

Instead, "The One that Got Away" is a recounting of fishing adventures, childhood memories and ruminations on what it means to have the biggest fish you've ever caught get away from you.

Maybe, just maybe, the biggest fish that got away was the job at the Times?

if the Giggolo had won, we'd be hearing this all the time.

Naw, we'd be hearing the call to prayer five times a day, and that's it.
