FReep 51 at Walter Reed, April 7(Heavy graphics, Join us April 14!)
DC Chapter ^ | April 14, 2006 | BillF

Posted on 04/13/2006 9:30:31 PM PDT by BillF

Two Year Background

I'm repeating some of the background from last week's report, in case there are any newcomers reading this. We are approaching the one year anniversary of the April 15, 2005 first of our regular Friday FReeps at Walter Reed and have already passed the one year anniversary of the first FReep. We will have a celebration of this anniversary on Friday, April 21, the first FReep following that anniversary date for the Friday FReeps.

This was FReep #51 as FReepers have countered the anti-troop hate group Code Pink at their weekly obscene anti-war blood dance outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center for over a year and this FReep occurred more than two years after DC Chapter FReepers first countered leftist anti-troop demonstrators at Walter Reed.

On March 15, 2004, there was a preliminary skirmish, more than a year before the regular dueling protests between FReepers and Pinkos started. The leftists, including many Pinkos, protested at Walter Reed as they traveled in a mock funeral procession from Dover Air Force Base, Delaware to Walter Reed Army Medical Center to the White House. Doctor Raoul solo FReeped Chief Code Pinko Medea Benjamin and her allies at Dover AFB, whereas other DC Chapter members FReeped the leftists at Walter Reed and at the White House per below:

After-Action: DC Chapter FReeps Left for Exploiting War Dead and Wounded (March 15, 2004)

A few hours after the leftists' first blood dance outside Walter Reed, the FReep of leftists at the White House occurred and included a direct FReep of Chief Pinko Medea Benjamin near the White House

More than a year after that skirmish at Walter Reed, the leftists returned to Walter Reed for a week straight in late March of 2005.

We FReeped them on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 per the following link LIVE ACTION REPORT: Code Pink's Gail Murphy sends thugs into peaceful DC Chapter counterprotest.

Then the Pinkos decided to try their psych-op against our war-wounded heroes every Friday at Walter Reed. When we found out, we started counter-protesting them every Friday beginning on April 15, 2005. FReepers have been at Walter Reed peacefully counter-protesting the Pinkos every Friday since then, except that we missed one Friday in May of 2005 due to exigent circumstances.

April 7 and Beyond

On April 7, and despite occasional rain and lightning, we FReeped on all four corners of the main gate at Walter Reed for the twelfth week in a row.  (Our control of the four corners followed the Pinkos' retreat as explained in the thread relative to January 20: Code Pink Retreats from Walter Reed-Freepers Win! (Week 40 Report at #1352). )

We had a great turnout of dedicated FReepers from the DC Chapter and beyond considering the terrible weather. It was warm, probably in the 70s, as repeated lines of storms were moving through the area. At around 7 pm, lightning was off in the distance, providing quite a light show, and rain came in for about half an hour. Most of that rain was light, but there was about 5 minutes of moderately hard rain. The rain left us for a time, but breezes continued. Then, right around 9 pm, another line of storms moved on us, with lightning real close. We packed quickly to leave, except that trooprally (Mr.) and Bill of MD stayed, hoping to see the bus of wounded return from their free meals at Fran O'Brien's restaurant. I believe that those two left very soon thereafter and that someone told me that no Fran O'Brien's bus was coming that night anyway.

The weather prevented us from deploying the MOAB, Mother-Of-All-Banners.

The Pinkos have now been relegated to an area about a block away such that the wounded and their relatives do NOT have to pass close by them to enter or leave Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Indeed, the Pinkos' presence is easy to overlook such that many troops and relatives may not even be aware of the Pinkos.  Since the Pinkos are completely gone from the gate, we usually have many wounded troops join us or stop by to thank us for being there.  Tonight, that didn't happen because the weather was so bad.

We are winning our psych-op against the Pinkos and have almost demolished their heartless psych-op against our war-wounded troops, but we continue to need more FReepers and other patriots to attend. Please join us this Friday, April 14, at 6:30 pm per details below. Help us peacefully destroy the Pinkos evil scheme. Please also bump this thread to keep it on top.

Stand up against the Pinkos who've endorsed "the Iraqi resistance" (as they call our enemy, see here and here), given money to the other side in Fallujah, and called our troops "killers."  Then, the Pinkos demonstrate at the hospital and pretend that they support our troops.

Lifting the spirits of our war-wounded heroes is what we aim to do. If you live in the area, please join us. If you really can't join us due to work, family, or medical reasons or you don't live in the area, you can help in other ways by contacting PleaDeal by FReepmail for ideas.

The honor roll of those in attendance (lurkers are marked with an asterisk*):

Apple Blossom, Bill from MD*, bmwcyle, Cindy-true-supporter, Craig(T) from DC, Fraxinus, IraqiKurd, Justanobody, kristinn, tgslTakoma, trooprally (Mr. and Mrs.), and BillF.  (Non-WR troops labeled with a "T" after their names. Lurkers marked with an asterisk.)

If a photo doesn't have a border, it is not hyperlinked to a larger version.  Click on another hyperlinked photo and its larger version should open in the same window that the first enlarged photo did. Or you can simply close the window with the enlarged photo and click on another photo in the report to open a new window with an enlarged photo. Note that some of the wider photos may open in a window wider than your screen and you can use a horizontal scroll bar to see parts. My photos will be interspersed in the report and tgslTakoma may optionally add some later in the thread. There are few photos because I was trying to keep my camera from getting wet in the rain.]

Opposed to our 13 patriots, the Pinkos were only able to assemble 7 America-hating traitors and their dupes. Good weather or bad, the Pinkos continue to be sparse compared to the patriots, even in the liberal bastion of Washington, DC. (Please help us continue that by showing up yourself this and other Fridays.)

There was no interaction between the FReepers and the Pinkos.

Bill from MD, Fraxinus, Cindy-true-supporter, and tgslTakoma on the Northeast corner

trooprally (Mr.) on the Southwest corner

Cindy-true-supporter and Fraxinus

Justanobody and trooprally (Mrs.)

IraqiKurd and Craig

As shown in the photo at left, IraqiKurd set up his hookah and smoked some tobacco, a traditional practice in the Middle East. Despite the hookah's superficial resemblance to a water pipe used for smoking marijuana, the Pinkos were too far away to contemplate asking to get a "hit" off the device.

We were proud to have Craig (photo left), a college student in Air Force ROTC, join us. He currently plans to go into combat rescue, despite the fact that the military training school for that specialty fails 87 percent of the entering students.

Although the bad weather prevented the usual Walter Reed patients from joining us, talking with Craig reminded us of all of the fine young men and women who volunteer to defend our country.

In the one year plus that we've been outside Walter Reed, we've been honored by the presence of men and women from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Our freedom comes from their bravery and sacrifice.

We continue to send our best wishes for a number of FReepers, and their loved ones, who have medical problems.

Gavin, the son of Cindy-true-supporter, is now a patient in Walter Reed, after being severely injured by an underage hit-and-run drunk driver. Gavin had stood with his mother and the rest of us outside Walter Reed several times. Gavin had planned entry into the Army in May, following graduation and an ROTC commission, but that will not happen.

3D-Joy, who FReeped with us outside Walter Reed numerous times last summer and planned on joining us again last Friday, remains in a hospital following a traffic accident. As she was traveling from her home state to the DC area to stay with relatives for a few weeks, she was injured in a car crash. Last that I heard from a relative, they were hoping that she would be released from the hospital on Friday.

Landry Fan, who FReeped at Walter Reed countless times beginning last summer and was outstanding in arranging contributions for injured troops as well as helping them in other ways, remains sidelined with medical problems.

Finally, a grandfather of AirForceBrat23, suffered a near-fatal heart attack and is in need of prayers. AirForceBrat23 has been at several of the Walter Reed FReeps, whereas her grandfather was in the National Guard during the Korean War.

We pray for those FReepers and relatives.

The rain prevented us from having pizza on site, but IraqiKurd had Persian pastries (similar to baklava) and fruit that he kindly shared during the breaks in the rain. Additionally, a number of us enjoyed pizza at an undisclosed location following the FReep.

Let's help our wounded heroes maintain a positive attitude.  We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded troops at Walter Reed that Code Pink doesn't speak for the nation. If you live in the DC area and haven't yet come out for one of these FReeps, please do so this next Friday. Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, and their families have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink and their ugly anti-troops agenda.

If we can sufficiently outnumber the leftists often enough, embarrassment may cause the leftists to stop these outrageous morale-damaging ("Maimed for a lie" was one of their commonly-used signs) demonstrations at the hospital. If some are immune to embarrassment, and, at the very least, we can hinder their psychological warfare operation against the wounded troops. What about you? Can you spare a few hours on a Friday night?

Can you give up next Friday night at the movies to support troops who've given up limbs for your freedoms? Will you?

This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation.

For those of you in the DC area, we need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.

Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?

We shall continue FReeping the Code Pinkos every Friday night until they stop their obscene blood dance outside the hospital of our war-wounded. If you agree with me that it is outrageous for Code Pinkos to protest a war at a hospital with war-wounded troops inside, please come out and join us in a peaceful counter-protest.

One of the amputees told me months ago that he doesn't want other wounded troops coming into Walter Reed and seeing only the Code Pinkos at the gates. He explained that the FReeper presence there was extremely important to counter the Pinkos. Please join us and be a part of our peaceful counter-protest to Code Pink.

Keeping the Pinkos away from the desirable locations at the gate of Walter Reed requires us to have enough people to occupy each of four corners.

Please don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy with TV, ballgames, movies and other recreation to peacefully counter America-hating leftists.

Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.

As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.

Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave., at Elder St., NW

We've been setting up on all four corners at Walter Reed's entrance gate per our permits, whereas the Pinkos are barely visible about a block away (and out of any good location).

On street parking is usually easy to find. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride.

DC Chapter ping! Please bump this thread to keep this on top of the latest posts.

FReepmail me to get on or off the list.

Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink.

If we can sufficiently outnumber the leftists often enough, embarrassment may cause some leftists to stop these outrageous morale-damaging ("Maimed for a lie" was one of their signs) demonstrations at the hospital. At the very least, we can peacefully and lawfully minimize the effect of their psych-ops against the troops.

Our troops are bold enough to face bullets, mortars, IEDs, and suicide bombers. Are you bold enough to get out from behind the keyboard, FReep in person, and stand up for the wounded troops at Walter Reed?

If you're in the DC area and don't have family, work or medical considerations that keep you from FReeping, can you spare a few hours on a Friday night? Will you?

Bring rain gear, just in case. There is a 30 to 40 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms, but that means that the rain gear probably won't be needed.

Now is the time for all good men and women
to come to the aid of our country
and show support for our service men and women.

You do not have to be in DC to show support for the Troops.

Visit your local military base today and at least once a week.

Or a military or veteran hospital.

If you can't do that then send an e-mail or package
to our troops for morale support.

Proud Patriots -
Sending care packages,
e-mails, and snail mail
to US Military worldwide.

http://www.proudpatriots.org

We need coast to coast support for the troops, now, more than ever.

gate2wire had asked in last week's thread about the egg-throwing incident mentioned in some replies relative to FReep #50. (I'm belatedly replying on this week's thread.)

The version that I heard from tgslTakoma is as follows:

As the FReepers were packing up on March 31, they heard an egg hit on the ground near their vehicles. One or two more eggs were thrown and one or two FReeper vehicles were hit, but water quickly washed off the egg remnants.

After the first egg hit the pavement, Iraq War veteran chcknhawk quickly went into combat mode. He said something like "What was that and where did it come from?" Quickly determining that it was an egg, even as one or two more eggs came in, he and a number of FReepers soon saw a white man in jeans and a t-shirt running east on Elder Street, the side street near the FReepers.

The perp ran away from Walter Reed and turned south on 9th ST. He made at obscene gesture, just before joining two or three others in a white Ford Mustang with a blue racing stripe on its top. (Keep an eye out for this vehicle, a similar vehicle, or other suspicious people or vehicles at future FReeps).

The car took off south-bound on 9th ST, but tgsl believes that it made a pass down the alley adjacent the FReepers and just behind the Georgia Ave church a few minutes later.

Police eventually came and took statements. Getting police involvement is important in case the perps take more dangerous action in the future.

Since I was gone when the incident occurred, I'll ask for anyone with more direct knowledge to correct any errors I made and to add any info that may be helpful for FReepers guarding against, deterring, or reacting to any future such incidents.

I've put the latest info that I have from Joyce's DC area son-in-law in the report, but would invite any of you to kindly add any detail to this thread as we all hope for a recovery as soon as possible for 3D-Joy, a great patriot and FReeper as well as a wonderful person.

Many thanks and prayers for all our troops and their families. Here's hoping the weekly dinners hosted by Fran O'Brien's for those recovering at Walter Reed continue as long as they serve a noble purpose.

Thanks so much for your kind words and/or bumps to this or last weeks thread. I was somewhat lax in responding last week, at least partly over my shock at 3D-Joy's accident, especially after the bad news with Gavin and Landry Fan. And now AirForce Brat23's grandfather is ill.

I know Code Pink has many witches in more ways than one. (True fact, one of their founders is a Wican.) Hope they haven't put a hex on us. :)

I tried to bring people up to speed on this week's report, but my info may be dated.

Again, I'll appeal for those of you outside the DC area to consider making the trip. We would gladly welcome you to FReep with us. Come to DC, which is now beautiful in spring, visit the tourist sites, and FReep with us on Friday night.

Smithsonian's vast array of Museums (Air and Space Museum is most popular and now has an extensive and amazing annex in nearby Virginia close to Dulles Airport), the Iwo Jima Memorial, Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln Monuments, the Vietnam and WWII Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, and the International Spy Museum are among the more popular places to visit.

Come FReep with us for the time of your life!

Reading the March 30, 2005 AAR and the egg incident (what, they didn't know Easter is THIS week?) it might be helpful in incidents such as these to follow the example of tgslTakoma and her daughter-

have an onsite FReeper report on the phone to FReeper on the forum in real time...
and advise the police that the incident is being (publicly) documented.

Well, the laundry list is pretty large. Gavin's and 3D-Joy's accidents, Landry Fan and AirForce Brat23's grandfather's illness, Fran O'Brien's 'eviction' Some might say the devil is in the details. I say, the devil can go to Hell and if he asks, tell him it was me that said so.

On the bright side, take a catcher's mitt for the 'hawk in case the chicken returns with his eggs and the bunny will need to make one less stop later this weekend. This could be a thread of it's own!

Mondo prayers up for the whole group! God be with you all.

Thanks for the great job as always, Bill.

For those folks who read of the D.C. Chapter's efforts, but live too far away to realistically join in, now is your chance to help them out. If you have not already heard, Hilton has refused to renew the lease of Fran O'Brien's steakhouse! Not only is Hilton depriving our wounded troops of their Friday night enjoyment and therapy, but they're giving owners Hal and Marty only until May 1st of this year to clear out. D.C. local news Channel 9 ran a two-minute segment on this disgraceful event last night.

Please see this thread for more details, and to help out. Call/write Hilton headquarters, call your local Hilton/Hampton Inn/Embassy Suites and express your dismay, write letters to the editor of your local paper. A big enough outcry, especially from those of us who are Hilton Honor members, may be able to generate enough negative publicity stop this fiasco. Thanks to all!
