Washington, D.C. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the hundreds of thousands of people who gathered across the country this week to call for comprehensive immigration reform:
I am encouraged to see so many people from all across the country join together to urge comprehensive, humane, and realistic immigration reform. The unprecedented show of support reaffirms our heritage as a nation of immigrants and demonstrates anew that we are one nation: E pluribus unum from many, one.
As we proudly say in the Pledge of Allegiance, we are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We must protect the dignity of all. We must oppose draconian and inhumane measures that seek to divide families while criminalizing churches and advocates for immigrants.
Comprehensive immigration reform is imperative to keep the American people safe, protect our borders, and enhance our national security. We all must work toward comprehensive, bipartisan reform, as outlined in the Gutierrez-Kolbe-McCain-Kennedy legislation.
No reference to illegal immigration, Nancy?
....'with liberty and justice for all'.
Does she also mean "ILLEGAL TERRORIST"? How can you tell who is who?
She's got BS coming from both ends...
What she really was saying..
"I am tickled pink that so many are gathering together in such large numbers and making it so much easier to recruit future voters before they are legal or can ever hope to be. It makes it so much easier to steal future elections."
"Now if only we had enough buses to drive them to precincts from sea to shining sea to cast ballots for a new and progresive America, reborn in the image we all value so dearly, Russia."
How about the "indivisible" word? One can't become indivisible until one is is one.
Pelosi is starting to remind me of those "Chatty Cathy" dolls - just pull the string, and she spouts random bits of unrelated information. She's a clear example of the dems' latest attempt at racial pandering.
More Liberal vote pandering?
What else would we expect?
All that Botox she's had injected into her face has seeped through and replaced the grey matter in what was once her brain.
Isn't it time for another face-lift?
The Repubs have a great opportunity to make inroads on the union vote over this issue, if they can force Bush to capitulate on this subject and can that worthless AG of his, Gonzales.

Edwards criticizes both parties at Las Vegas union meeting
By KATHLEEN HENNESSEY
ASSOCIATED PRESS
LAS VEGAS - Former Sen. John Edwards criticized Republicans for passing "immoral" tax cuts and Democrats for focusing on the political center at a meeting of mine workers Tuesday in Las Vegas.
(Funny thing about that headline...in my east coast, Edward's state, paper it's different...Edwards criticizes GOP, Dems at meeting)
Actually, Bush is the one who started this.
We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:
In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. My Bush Epiphany By Lawrence Auster
Go figure. On the other hand, the English Language is growing in popularity and use in most other industrialized countries around the world, yet here in the P/C U.S., we are heading in the opposite direction with Jorge Bush leading the charge for espanol.
Nationalism is Facsism!
Who the f*** do you think you are to decide who can live here?
The idea of "borders" is outdated.
Anyone who would criminalize immigrants is either inhumane, corporate pig or a Nazi.
Illegal invasion is all Bush's fault...trying to stop illegal invasion is all Bush's fault.
Racist, cruel, fascist, isolationist Repukes! Gaaahhhh!
Of course, when the hatred really ramps up, there is always talk of leaving for Canada...but ironically, Canada won't let them in! They would be ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
One of the first places that is set up to round up the illegals should be at voting places. Maybe that way the Dems would stop pandering - no point playing up to people who can't vote, after all. . . . Of course, if that were proposed, the the Dems would cry "civil rights violation!" and the Pubs would cave.
