Seeks damages for distribution of humiliating gun accident video: APRIL 11--A Drug Enforcement Administration agent who stars in a popular online video that shows him shooting himself in the foot during a weapons demonstration for Florida children is suing over the tape's release, claiming that his career has been crippled and he's become a laughingstock due to the embarrassing clip's distribution. Lee Paige, 45, blames the video's release on DEA officials in an April 7 federal lawsuit filed against the U.S. government. A copy of the pro se complaint by Paige, a DEA agent since 1990, can be found below. According to the lawsuit, Paige was making a "drug education presentation" in April 2004 to a Florida youth group when his firearm (a Glock .40) accidentally discharged. The shooting occurred moments after Paige told the children that he was the only person in the room professional enough to carry the weapon. The accident was filmed by an audience member, and the tape, Paige claims, was turned over to the DEA. The drug agency subsequently "improperly, illegally, willfully and/or intentionally" allowed the tape to be disseminated. As a result, Paige--pictured above in a still from the video--has been the "target of jokes, derision, ridicule, and disparaging comments" directed at him in restaurants, grocery stores, and airports. Paige, who writes that he was "once regarded as one of the best undercover agents, if not the best, in the DEA," points to the clip's recent airing on popular television shows and via the Internet as the reason he can no longer work undercover

Why don't I doubt it? The DEA is the HUD of law enforcement.
There is a reason officer Barny Fife was only allowed ONE bullet, and he had to keep it in his pocket!
I saw the video.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
"What a maroon. What an imbecile. Whan a nink-cow-poop."
LOL
Said what you want though, he did finish well.
That never gets old.
That explains a lot here.
And not allowed access to firearms anymore, either.
What a crock! First of all, HE shot himself in the foot in a public setting, which is nobody's fault but his own. And second, if he's giving public presentations like this, where he identifies himself as a DEA agent and the audience is obviously in a position to take photos and videos of him, then THAT is why he can't work undercover (and it's hard to believe that he was doing undercover work before this, since I've never heard of any undercover law enforcement agent giving public presentations like this).
But at least he did the country a favor, in that there are now a bunch more young people who know for a fact that they're as qualified to carry a firearm as anyone.
That explains a lot here.
Sure does. Explains that he couldn't find a lawyer to take the case. Even in Florida, which is the smarmy, contingent-fee lawyer capital of the nation! Amazing!
WOD metaphor.
Nice choice of words.
And shouldn't that be "claiming that his career has been handicapped" or that "his career has been differently abled"?
Well, he's pretty pathetic, but until he pulled this stupid suing stunt, he wasn't quite as bad as the Philadelphia police officer who was giving a presentation to a 6th grade class, and let the kids pass her loaded gun around -- needless to say one of the kids managed to shoot another kid (fortunately only grazing the victim).
He had some tough competition. On of our local DEA agents shot a bar owner multiple times because he wouldn't let the agent and a bunch of his fellow drunks in the club free. He would have to be high on their finest list.
I remember watching this video a while ago, it was funny! He was acting all big and bad then he shoots himself! DOH!
And then we wonder why we can't protect our borders or stop the drug smuggling...LMAO!!! What a joke this clown is.....
IF he's the best DEA has to offer, we're in deep doo-doo.
Thanks
Some double standards here.
This guy said he had 21 years in law enforcement including 16 years with the DEA (I believe), and now this one video has reduced him to a joke.
Yes, he asked for it, but at least the guy shot himself, not someone unarmed and innocent like other officers have done. Or, like the Vice-President shooting a friend accidentally while hunting.
No, the guy shouldn't be permitted in a classroom again, just for bringing a loaded gun in there. Then again, a lot of people here were in favor of arming teachers following Columbine.
Libertarian ping! To be added or removed from my ping list freepmail me or post a message here.
Drug-law enforcement seems to attract the dregs.
Karma for the lies undoubtedly contained in that presentation.
When he asks somebody at the front table to hand him another firearm, the implication is: "You thought that Glock .40 was loud, wait until I crank off a round from this here rifle..."
