The Left, Online and Outraged
The Washington Post ^ | Saturday, April 15, 2006 | David Finkel

Posted on 04/14/2006 11:15:21 PM PDT by Plutarch

In the angry life of Maryscott O'Connor, the rage begins as soon as she opens her eyes and realizes that her president is still George W. Bush... Out there, awaiting her building fury: the Angry Left, where O'Connor's reputation is as one of the angriest of all. "One long, sustained scream" is how she describes the writing she does for various Web logs...

---------------snip----------------------

What's notable about this isn't only the level of anger but the direction from which it is coming. Not that long ago, it was the right that was angry and the left that was, at least comparatively, polite. But after years of being the targets of inflammatory rhetoric, not only from fringe groups but also from such mainstream conservative politicians as Newt Gingrich, the left has gone on the attack. And with Republicans in control of Washington, they have much more to be angry about.

"Powerlessness" is O'Connor's explanation. "This is born of powerlessness..."

12 years of Reagan and GHWB. Then, 8 years of someone foul. They didn't think he was foul - they enjoyed thinking "He's like me! He's just like me!" But then they get a guy not afraid to pull the trigger on thugs, and strong enough to disdain the Kyoto nonsense, and not get Ginsburgistas on SCOTUS... It's been said that one rock of crack can addict you. X42(i) was like crack to the minds of some leftists...

http://www.pantheon.org/articles/g/gorgons.html

In Greek mythology a Gorgon is a monstrous feminine creature whose appearance would turn anyone who laid eyes upon it to stone. Later there were three of them: Euryale ("far-roaming"), Sthenno ("forceful"), and Medusa ("ruler"), the only one of them who was mortal. They are the three daughters of Phorcys and Ceto.

A fourth Gorgon, MaryScott O'Connor ("hideous"), was identified in the United States in the 21st century.

The Gorgons are monstrous creatures covered with impenetrable scales, with hair of living snakes, hands made of brass, sharp fangs and a beard. They live in the ultimate west, near the ocean, and guard the entrance to the underworld.

A Little About Me:

Or, A Radical Leftist Liberal Socialist Commie Feminist Pinko from Hell

My name is Maryscott O'Connor. (MSOC for short.) I am 37, married (to Adam Crocker) with a 6 year old son (Terry O'Connor).

I am also an orphan of Vietnam.

My father, Lieutenant Terence Raymond Roach, Jr. of the Third Marine Division, was killed on February 8, 1968 at Khe Sanh, during the Tet Offensive. I was born 3 months later, on April 29, 1968.

I consider Vietnam to be the defining feature of my life. Had it not been for that unjust war, I would have grown up with a father and a happy mother. Had she not been widowed, my childhood would have been very different; I cannot imagine it would have been worse (that's a lie: I can imagine Terry Roach coming home with PTSD and providing me an even MORE f**ked up childhood than the one I had -- but I choose NOT to imagine it that way). It ought not surprise anyone that I have an extreme sensitivity to needless war.

Interesting. She is apparently an emotionally disturbed person, as is clear from the article, a consequence of the death of her father and the evident depression of her mother. Her political activities are an outlet for obsessive-compulsive behavior. That accounts for the blogging. But there is something else going on.

The rage that brings satisfaction is something else. Rage evokes applause, and she seems to live for that. There is an echo-chamber effect here where disturbed people are feeding and amplifying each others rage because it brings them psychic rewards to do so. It is all about their feelings, and to keep the feelings going they are going more and more off the deep end.

This is not about objective analyses of cost-benefit, or anything on which common ground can be found.
There is literally no reasoning with people like this.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but from that picture it appears the only things that woman owns are a computer, an angry scowl, and a glass of wine.

And a shirt, but I'm thinking that was probably left at her house by a man after he gnawed off his own right arm.

Those lunatics are in a constant state of crapheaded hysterics. Yet there is not s single thing they can actually prove against President Bush.

Bush lied?

Simply show us the proof.

Bush stole money?

Simply show us the proof.

Bush stole the election?

Simply show us the proof.

They can't show us a single shred of evidence that President Bush has ever done anything wrong in the least. If they could then cBS News would be all over like a fly on you know what.

But they can't so the invent stuff that is not real. Crimes that don't exist. They are lunatics on the rampage.

I wonder how many years this woman lost from her life by being so consumed with her hatred for President Bush. Just look at her dilated eyes, yellow teeth, yellowish wrinkled pudgy skin with an extra chin and hair that is dyed to hide a head of total gray hair.

If she had a brain in her head she would be concerned about what she is doing to herself instead of imagined crimes of President Bush. She is her own worst enemy, much worse than any other person could ever be.

And from all that self destruction, the lunatics still can't show a single bit of proof that President Bush has ever done anything improper.

They are truly pathetic.

Where to begin on this lunatic? Obviously she's unemployable. She's clearly insane too. She wants to send troops to Darfur? How "unjust" of her. Darfur isn't an imminent threat to the US, they've never attacked us, there are no weapons of mass destruction there. How could we invade such a sovereign nation? we should let inspectors "do their job" for the next 12 years. Darfur is a totally unnnecessary war that we can't afford.

Spot-on.

What this woman and many other truly unhinged bush-haters are going to experience is a very strong letdown come January 2009. Just like when the Vietnam War ended and the neo-left lost their biggest magnet for recruitment so it will be when W leaves office.

Granted this is a different war that will go on for a very long time and in some aspects will go on forever on a much smaller, tactical scale. Yet when their main target, the selected-not-elected President is gone, no matter who wins the Presidency, the neo-libs will quickly find less future willing recruits which will make them even more infuriated, adding to their irrationality.

Thereafter their actions will turn more towards terroristic tactics which will repel recruits and the public-at-large even more.

The best thing for the left would be for W to be President for 8 more years.

Slightly off-topic: The movie "United 93" is going to be huge. I've gone to various movie bulletin boards and it's easy to spot a liberal: "Too early" "exploiting tragedy" "who cares-this was an inside job" etc.

Yet many, even the nutbag profiled here, will eventually see it just like many of us saw Farenheit 9/11.

I predict that "united 93" will be in the top 5 movie grosses of the year and see the possibility of the silent majority coming out in droves and creating numbers like the last movie that raised the silent majoritiy's interest: "The Passion"

Had it not been for that unjust war,

Wow, good thing a Democrat had nothing to do with getting the U.S. into that war . . .

nothing unless you want to count FDR, Truman, JFK, and Johnson.

Anybody got a mirror for this latter-day Quixote? Her idea of a, "long, sustained scream," is nothing compared to what we'd hear the moment reality hits home and her victimology gets pointed in the right direction.

And before anybody starts jumping in, sure, I'll concede Nixon's group screwed up the solution, but by then the can was wide open and the worms were turning. I think Nixon's mistake was not just unleashing the dogs and letting them off the porch to finish the mess our little French buddies had sucked us into.

The modern Left substitutes rage in place of positive policy ideas...because they have no positive ideas for the U.S.

They want the nuclear family destroyed; gay parents, gay children, aborted children, children out of wedlock, children from multiple fathers, children with multiple mothers, children with different last names than their parents, government raising children without parents via welfare and rules and programs, etc.

They want higher taxes. They want France to determine our foreign policy. They want to surrender to radical Islamics who would put them in burkhas.

They'd gladly fight a Republican, but they'd never fight a terrorist.

They want to put as many obstacles as possible in the way of our economy such as banning nuclear power, mandating various ever-changing blends of fuel, banning drilling for new fuel, banning refining new fuel, banning new home construction (e.g. "urban sprawl"), banning smoking in restaurants, etc.

If it damages our society (e.g. recreational drugs) then they are for it; if it benefits our society (e.g. border control) then they are against it.

Pause

But they can't very well run on a political platform of the above.

They can't win the Heartland by banning guns and holding "have an abortion at my house" slumber parties for their teenagers.

And they aren't going to change.

So this leaves them without any expressed, admitted, public policy ideas.

In other words, it leaves them with rage. President Bush is bad if he jails Saddam Hussein and he's bad if he ignores North Korea. If Bush cures cancer they'll b!tch that he didn't cure AIDs.

Pick *any* daily news headline and the modern Left will spin it such that it's Bush's fault.

It's all that they've got.
