Professor Who Vandalized Pro-Life Display Against Abortion Defends Actions
LifeNews.com ^ | April 14, 2006 | Steven Ertelt

Highland Heights, KY -- A Northern Kentucky University professor who destroyed a pro-life display against abortion and encouraged her students to vandalize it as well is defending her actions. Dr. Sally Jacobsen, a British literature professor, called the display "silly" and said her free speech rights allowed her and others to trash the display. As LifeNews.com reported on Thursday, Jacobson and several students from her class vandalized a pro-life display of hundreds of crosses that the campus pro-life group had set up earlier in the week.

The professor and her students were caught on camera and seen by other witnesses trashing the pro-life display.

Jacobson admitted to the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper that she and nine of her students engaged in the vandalism.

"I did, outside of class during the break, invite students to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to," Jacobsen said.

She told the newspaper she had "no comment" as to whether she was involved, but a reporter form the NKU student newspaper caught Dr. Jacobson on camera.

Jacobson told the Enquirer she was upset by the pro-life display which she labeled a "slap in the face" to women who might be considering "the agonizing and very private decision to have an abortion."

The professor claimed it wasn't clear who put up the cross display, but members of Northern Right to Life, the campus pro-life group, received permission from the school to use the lawn outside the campus center for it.

After Dr. Jacobson and NKU students destroyed the display, members of the group decided put new crosses up in their place and camp out overnight on Thursday to make sure they weren't vandalized again.

The student group also told The Northerner student newspaper it plans to press charges with local police.

"We called the police and told them that we decided to press charges," Julie Broering, treasurer for the group, said. The decision came after members of the pro-life club held a day-long meeting and vote.

David Tobergte, an administrative sergeant with the University Police said those involved could face felony theft charges and any students could also face university sanctions regarding the incident.

Met a new neighbor tonight, after I noticed a bumper sticker on their car that was parked on the street.

It read: ABORTION IS NOT HEALTH CARE

I rang the bell and welcomed them to the neighborhood.

This is one one those rare case where the MSM coverage matches the Pro Life Press almost exactly.

>>A new way to debate: vandalize!

About a dozen students at Northern Kentucky University could face expulsion after a professor recruited them to trash an anti-abortion display on campus.

Literature professor Sally Jacobsen said the display - which the university allowed after a student group formally obtained permission - "horribly violated" her personal beliefs and she was only encouraging her students to practice their freedom of speech.

But President Jim Votruba said Jacobsen is wrong - free speech doesn't extend to vandalism and theft. NKU turned the case over to police and said both Jacobsen and the students face disciplinary action.<<

That is a funny definition of "free speech". So I take it people have freedom of speech rights to trash her car then? Maybe dig up her gardens? Take her coat and pee all over it?

"I did, outside of class during the break, invite students to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to," Jacobsen said.

She probably thinks the palestinians that destroyed Jewish gravestones on the Mount of Olives were expressing their freeedom-of-speech rights.

For any sane college president, the response to that should be "Go clean out your office. I want you gone by noon." Now we just need to find a sane college president.

The display itself was an exercise of free speech. It would serve this baby killer well to remember that her right to free speech ends where everyone else's nose begins.

She'll never understand, though. She'll play the typical liberal victim and sue the university.

I've known WAY too many liberals with no real defining personality traits other than those that come out of the cup of koolaid. They're interchangeable and predictable.

Mark my words. She'll sue.

What's next for this professor? Go to the library and collect books she doesn't like for burning?

The dirty little secret of the hard Left is that they are often really Fascists, and hence antiliberal, but they usually don't openly advocate blatant Nazi tactics like this witch.

NKU needs to run her off campus. Otherwise they might as well give her the Joseph Goebbels Chair of Propaganda Studies.

Nazi references are overused on the internet. Here it fits like a glove -- or a jackboot.

I have a slightly different take on that. Perhaps part of the reason she's overweight and rabidly "pro-choice" now is because as a young woman, she had an abortion and is still in denial about the negative psychological and emotional impact that had on her.

All of that fits with typical "post-abortion syndrome" symptoms. (That's not to say that all overweight women have had abortions; just an observation.)

Yes. Being "slapped in the face" with the truth that the unborn are human life can take its toll on the soul. That's why it's "agonizing" for those with a conscience left in them. It's called the guilt of the sin of murder.

I think she hasn't recovered from the guilt....she carries around a very large pronounced belly....

..and is constantly seeking doctors and medicines for 'vague ailments'....

The dirty little secret of the hard Left is that they are often really Fascists, and hence antiliberal, but they usually don't openly advocate blatant Nazi tactics like this witch.

It's a totally natural progression from socialism to Fascism.

The "masses" will never willingly submit to the schemes of the elite leadership. So the elites naturally have to impose their will by force.

They know what's best for you, after all.
