Professor Who Vandalized Pro-Life Display Against Abortion Defends Actions
LifeNews.com ^ | April 14, 2006 | Steven Ertelt

Highland Heights, KY -- A Northern Kentucky University professor who destroyed a pro-life display against abortion and encouraged her students to vandalize it as well is defending her actions. Dr. Sally Jacobsen, a British literature professor, called the display "silly" and said her free speech rights allowed her and others to trash the display. As LifeNews.com reported on Thursday, Jacobson and several students from her class vandalized a pro-life display of hundreds of crosses that the campus pro-life group had set up earlier in the week.

The professor and her students were caught on camera and seen by other witnesses trashing the pro-life display.

Jacobson admitted to the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper that she and nine of her students engaged in the vandalism.

"I did, outside of class during the break, invite students to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to," Jacobsen said.

She told the newspaper she had "no comment" as to whether she was involved, but a reporter form the NKU student newspaper caught Dr. Jacobson on camera.

Jacobson told the Enquirer she was upset by the pro-life display which she labeled a "slap in the face" to women who might be considering "the agonizing and very private decision to have an abortion."

The professor claimed it wasn't clear who put up the cross display, but members of Northern Right to Life, the campus pro-life group, received permission from the school to use the lawn outside the campus center for it.

After Dr. Jacobson and NKU students destroyed the display, members of the group decided put new crosses up in their place and camp out overnight on Thursday to make sure they weren't vandalized again.

The student group also told The Northerner student newspaper it plans to press charges with local police.

"We called the police and told them that we decided to press charges," Julie Broering, treasurer for the group, said. The decision came after members of the pro-life club held a day-long meeting and vote.

David Tobergte, an administrative sergeant with the University Police said those involved could face felony theft charges and any students could also face university sanctions regarding the incident.

Papa Bush was speaking to a group recently. He told this story which still makes me laugh out loud.

He said he was at some event and the ugliest woman he had ever seen was holding up a sign....STAY OUT OF MY WOMB

Papa Bush said to the woman......NO WORRIES!

Its just stunning that an education Aemrican could claim that their free Speech includes destroying other's speech they don't like... but sadly this is not an isolated case.

On the contrary -- only someone who HAS absorbed some of the garbage taught in our universities like subjectivism and relativism can ignore concepts like consistency and fairness and justice in favor of doctrines that give some people rights and not others. People like this Nazi witch really believe they have rights but not those who oppose her because she is right and they are wrong.

What IS surprising is that she is so blatant about it -- and in an area (Cincinnati suburb in Northern Kentucky) that is not as wacked-out as towns like Ithaca or Berzerkely or even Ann Arbor.

Huh? So I could smash in the windshield of that fat cow's car and I would merely be exercising my "right to free speech"? I don't think so.

I have said this before. Alumni must tell university administrations in no uncertain terms that there will be NO DONATIONS or any activity by alumni if they continue to fund & support psuedo-academic disciplines hire moonbats to populate them.
Conservatives who are on college or university governing councils (e.g. Board of Regents) need to start holding college and university presidents accountable.

Nope, sorry, destruction of other peoples' property is not protected under the First Amendment. If you take that argument to its logical end, nobody would have any property rights at all. If you take it to the extreme end and consider the body itself to be property of the individual, than battery and assault would have to be decriminalized.

Let's do an experiment: The next time you want to get home in a hurry, mash the gas pedal. When the cop busts you for going 110 in a 25 zone, just say it's your freedom of expression to drive as fast as you want. Somehow I am betting you still get the ticket.

Arrest the bitch for vandalism. Prosecute the bitch for vandalism. Then incarcerate her overweight and unattractive ass.

That'll teach her the difference between speech and destruction. Hell toss a conspiracy to commit charge in there as well just to add some more jail time.

This reminds me of people who took flags off of flagpoles a few years ago and burned them, then argued that it was their first amendment right to burn the American flag.

I might be persuaded to listen to their argument if they were talking about burning THEIR OWN flag, and not stealing somebody else's (or the public's) flag and burning it.

This professor had every right to set up her own display, even make it identical to the pro-life display, and then destroy that. Or she could make a counter display. But she has no right to destroy somebody else's display.

Why do libs feel free to do this sort of thing? Due to my "W is my President" bumper sticker, I get anti-Bush notes on my car every so often (including 3 in one hour last week). That's why the sticker is taped inside the back window instead of on the bumper where they could pull it off.

So it is "freedom of speech" to deny others their freedom of speech. Typical Orwellian double-think. Censorship double-plus good!

And if the owners of the sign had been young enough, Dr. Jacobsen's privacy rights might have allowed her to kill them, too.

While I in no way agree with abridging someone's right to free expression, I believe making a religious statement on the grounds of a public university is despicable. Why can't these uppity do-gooders keep their opinions to themselves. Abortion is a touchy subject, but so is invasion of privacy. KEEP YOUR GOD OUT OF MY CAMPUS
