Question for conservatives who vote for Republican candidates every few years because the Republicans are the "lesser of two evils." P>
How is your voting strategy working out?
Since "conservative" Republicans have taken over the House of Representatives 11 years ago, the expansion of government has continued at every level. Nothing has been done to stop the holocaust of abortion. Gay marriage under the guise of "civil unions" is becoming a norm in our society. Our government continues in its Wilsonian tradition of globe-trotting and nation-building with the precious blood of American soldiers fertilizing the subjected nations, making them "safe for democracy."
Nothing has been done to deter the invasion of over 10 million illegal immigrants across our southern border. Taxation as a percentage of income is at record levels. Federal and state government debts are at record levels. The middle class of the American citizenry have the boot of the government planted squarely on their necks and continue to shoulder much of the monetary burden that keeps our corrupt governments breathing.
Conservative voters, I ask you again...How is your voting strategy working out? Have the "lesser" of evils advanced your agenda? (I really don't believe that this "evil" is lesser at all...but is merely a different flavor of evil. Much like choosing between strawberry or chocolate ice cream...the underlying substance is the same with the only difference being the flavor.)
I'm not asking if they have promised to advance your agenda (because I know their rhetoric).
I'm asking, "What has the Republican Party done for you and your cause?"

Until there is a paradigm shift in the thinking of conservatives, our nation will continue slouching toward certain destruction...Until there is a revolution in the minds and thought processes of dyed-in-the-wool conservatives who regularly vote Republican, there will be no legitimate change in our nation's course...Until the conservatives arise from their mental dormancy and slumber, our nation will continue to creep toward certain judgment.

I voted for a democrat as township supervisor in the last election because he was the more conservative candidate and I'll vote for him again if he seeks a higher office and remains true to his ideals.
His republican opponent was only slightly to the right of Howard Dean.

I don't do "protest" votes, they suck. I vote for the person I want to see in office. No more holding my nose and hoping against hope that the local chimp Republican will do what is right. If you want to see things keep going the way they are keep voting the way you have been. I'm sick of the pure bullshit our government has been handing out and am trying to do something about it. It may be way past the time voting will solve anything.
Ah...yes it has advanced my agenda. Perhaps not as quickly as some would like. However that little 8 year detour called Bill Clinton was the result of people who were too impatient to work the system. That detour really did slow down my agenda and resulted in Ginsberg, Breyer, a huge tax INCREASE and a stupid payola-based foreign policy that resulted in an increase in terrorism. The way to influence a party is NOT to make it lose but to make it win so it controls Government. Then kick its butt while it can still do something. A left wing ass is hardly going to feel a right wing boot. To the left feeling that boot is a badge of honor.

Voting for the Constitution Party would damage the Constitution? Just what in the world do you think the republicans and democrats have been doing all these years? You can either continue to support the erosion of the Constitution or not. Good luck trying to get the GOP to change by working within their boundaries. But let me ask you something, if people refuse to even consider leaving the republicans for a real conservative party, what incentive is there for the GOP to change?

Bush actually did cut my taxes. Granted, not as much as Clinton did, but I'll take whatever I can get.

Most people here on FR I would think are of above average intelligence. Read this, you may or may not agree but they have some excellent points, especially about the balance of power in federal government, immigration and gun control. I can't agree with their position in Iraq in particular but I think we as a nation need to take care of our own and butt out of world affairs. I'm not yet ready to vote due to that but they are well worth the read.

Someone who I can agree with 50%, 60%, or 70% is much better to someone who I agree with 30%, 20%, or 10%. My strategy has been working out just fine, once I realized that I didn't have to have everything I want in order to be happy.
Of course the question he doesn't ask is: Third party voters--how is YOUR strategy working out?
It already is. It's time for conservatives to apply a little 'tough love' to the Republican party. It won't hurt the country that much if the Democrats take the House (but only the House) for a few terms.
In life the choice is often between bad and worse. Choosing worse, or allowing it to come about because the other choice is bad is not the act of a rational person.
Democrats: driving off of a cliff towards socialism and the obliteration of the Constitution at 100mph.
Republicans: doing precisely the same thing only at 75mph.

Republicans are anti-Abortion, Democrats are pro-Abortion, just to mention one issue.
We need term limits so politicians won't always be trying to buy cushy lifetime political careers. That should slow down some of the spending.
I know, I know, - but your representative brings home alot of pork for your district - right?
That's part of the problem.
Why would do a protest vote in a Presidential election! You do these "teach you a lesson" things during the off-year elections. If we go and vote for Republicans in this election, then they will think that their liberalism and/or spinelessness is condoned. Then you will have our party bosses pushing for McCain, Dole, or some other RINO like Bush to be nominated again.
What has the Constitution Party given us? NOTHING!
Then how do you expect conservative bills to be introduced into Congress? They won't get out of committee. Instead we'll see plenty of liberal bills that we can have the satisfaction of voting against and of course filibustering. Hard to score points playing defense... that is real points.
Voting is a minimum duty as a citizen. But, that by itself is just turning over decisions to someone else and hoping they are as inspired as you on whatever issues arise. We shouldn't complain when whoever is elected fails to be wise, farsighted, and other versions of genius from the day he sits behind his big, new desk. As far as working within the party, money counts, and unless you are an 89-year old widow with blue hair and more money than the King of Jordan you need to be a candidate yourself or at least a grubbing campaign manager who makes deals without scruples if you want to be heard.
