First Knights Templar are discovered

LONDON: The first bodies of the Knights Templar, the mysterious religious order at the heart of The Da Vinci Code, have been found by archaeologists near the River Jordan in northern Israel.
British historian Tom Asbridge yesterday hailed the find as the first provable example of actual Knights Templar.
The remains were found beneath the ruined walls of Jacob's Ford, an overthrown
castle dating back to the Crusades, which had been lost for centuries.
They can be dated to the exact day -- August 29, 1179 -- that they were killed by Saladin, the feared Muslim leader who captured the fortress.
"Never before has it been possible to trace their remains to such an exact time in history,' Mr Asbridge said. "This discovery is the equivalent of the Holy Grail to archaeologists and historians. It is unparalleled."

I'm a little mystified at this assertion myself.
Oh, I've already seen one of those knights. He was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Dig around the site (no pun intended). I heard of the Authority on a Discovery Channel episode where they were excavating a structure believed to be once occupied by the Knights Templar.
How does one misplace a castle for a few centuries? I guess they didn't have Amber Alerts back then.
probably the calendar watches that were worn by the knights were broken during the battle, so the archaeologists just had to read the time and date.
So far, their claims seem a bit outrageous as they offer no validation nor give any explanation as to the 'how' of their ability to so precisely date this find.

Well, we "lost" James Cittie (Jamestown) for a few centuries, and it's only 400 years old, so I guess it's possible to lose a castle over a much longer period of time.
My thoughts, too. Shouldn't it be "the Knights Templar, the most important Christian military order during the Crusades..."

That can't be... I thought Saladin was the wise and peaceful ruler who only wanted muslims, christians, and jews to all get along.
well, if you read the sentence very carefully, it is clear that it was the Crusades, not the castle, that had been lost for centuries.
i always embed gps chips in my castles, and i have never lost any of them.

It also sounds as if the very existence of the order was being questioned, further into the article.
