First Knights Templar are discovered

April 10, 2006

LONDON: The first bodies of the Knights Templar, the mysterious religious order at the heart of The Da Vinci Code, have been found by archaeologists near the River Jordan in northern Israel.

British historian Tom Asbridge yesterday hailed the find as the first provable example of actual Knights Templar.

The remains were found beneath the ruined walls of Jacob's Ford, an overthrown

castle dating back to the Crusades, which had been lost for centuries.

They can be dated to the exact day -- August 29, 1179 -- that they were killed by Saladin, the feared Muslim leader who captured the fortress.

"Never before has it been possible to trace their remains to such an exact time in history,' Mr Asbridge said. "This discovery is the equivalent of the Holy Grail to archaeologists and historians. It is unparalleled."

They FOUND BODIES from the 12th Century??
And they KNOW the exact date of death?

I am as hungry for details as are you, but it seems simple enough in theory: if Sir So and so was recorded as being killed in the battle of Achmed, and a burial site is found saying here rests the remains of Sir So and so, it would not take a rocket scientist...

you'll learn more about the Templars, Assassins, Rosicrucians, Bavarian Illuminati, etc. than you ever wanted to know

That's old hat. The guy who hands out the free commuter paper at my Metro stop tells me from time to time about the 33 1/3 degree Masons. Now that's a secret order!

That all sounds entirely lifted from Holy Blood, Holy Grail which was thoroughly debunked years ago...

This is the only Templar reference at the Antiquities site.
The history described is not the same I don't think as the story at the Vadum Iacob website.

I lost my house, one night. Then I sobered up.

What a coincidence! So did I...but the bank kept it anyway.

Damn you, Jimmah Cattarh, and may you drown in stagflation for Eternity!

I met an 88 degree Mason on a job, once. He couldn't lay a square corner if his life depended on it.

Instead of course they became successful by inventing the precursor to the American Express Travelers Check, the Letter of Credit.

I suppose that is to boring to make a movie about. Although I would find it interesting.

Great find and post, friend. I have always been fascinated by Jacques De Molay, the Knights Templar and the Masons.

Another good'un: FLICKER, by Theodore Roszak. It covers a lot of the same territory, but looks at the whole secret-society/Gnostic subject from the angle of moviemaking and the control of imagery and memes. And the theological and historical viewpoint is the exact opposite of THE DAVINCI CODE, i.e., it's based on accurate and verifiable information, and doesn't cater to Noo Age silliness.

Strange religious cult in todays thinking. Maybe the templars were normal back then but todays strangeness breaths of cults 101.
