Two Duke University lacrosse players were arrested early Tuesday on charges of rape, sexual offense and kidnapping, FOX News has confirmed.

Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, both 20 years old, were being held on $400,000 bond each. Seligmann had posted bond by 7:30 a.m. and Finnerty was in the process of doing so. By posting bond, the players avoid making an initial court appearance later Tuesday.

District Attorney Mike Nifong said authorities are still trying to identify a third assailant.

We have the same saying here in NC! And it's true.

THIS CREEP IS UP FOR ELECTION IN TWO WEEKS. THERE IS VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE REQUIRED FOR A GRAND JURY. LOWEST LEVEL OF PROOF. BOY.

Ridiculous. I'll bet they don't have records and this evidence is flimsy. Ridiculous bond.

I read on another thread that one of the fellows arrested was charged with assault in Washington, DC last fall and had to do community service. Also, the link in post #10 is to a story about how some of the Duke players have several code of conduct violations that the school has been concerned about for some time. Take a look at post #10 for the story.

I am not sure of the DA's responsibilities in a grand jury setting -- his job is to present evidence a crime took place, and by whom, and not to develop a defense. But in this case, if the DA had been presented with alibi evidence and ignored it, he might have a problem. It's one thing to present a clear prima facie case; it's another to ignore exculpatory evidence.

"Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty"

With names like that, they must come from serious money.
Coincidence?

Where did you see that? I'm not doubting it, just curious.

Supposedly, DNA does not match any of the lacrosse players. Has it been determined where the donor DNA came from?

And there was also a report of a positive test result for a date rape drug. But how dare you or I actually question the foregone conclusions of the knee-jerk Freeper crowd, who have already declared these 'boys' innocent. Because a skank dancer always lies, but trash frat boys with a dirty history would never lie in this case.

I don't think anyone can be certain yet what happened. Not that it will stop the keyboard lynch mob...

This reminds me of such life destroying witch hunts we have seen in states like California and Washington where prosecutors were looking for career making cases to make a name for themselves.

I remember that story of a california pre-school run by a family where a glory seeking DA tried to accuse them all of child molestation. In the end, the people were completely proved innocent. Not a single act of child molestation ever occured. But not before their school was bankrupted and their lives & careers ruined.

Finnerty's assault charge in DC is red meat to PC types ... it was played up as gay bashing. Is Nifong "perp shopping" for political purposes?

These charges will be dropped after the election since he is only using these boys to increase his share of the black vote.

All he has to do is to pick the jury carefully.

Carefully?!

Rumor has it one of the kids can prove he wasn't even at the house when the alleged rape occurred.

Well, she couldn't identify them until 3 weeks later, after their pictures had been up all over campus. I was actually thinking last night that if she just picked 3 guys that there is a good chance one of them wasn't even there that night.

$400,000 bond. Wow! Are they a risk of flight???? Is that customary in NC????

Bond is probably set according to a schedule re: the crimes. Here you have kidnapping, rape and sexual assault...all big name crimes.

A judge will likely reduce bond at a hearing

Police dispatch recording, less than one hour before the event, has the sainted young mom, er student, er exotic dancer, er stripper passed-out drunk, as reported by a local cop who {literally} tripped over her semi-comotose {well worn} body.
