Tony Snow offered White House Job
Heard on the John Gibson radio program
Posted on 04/18/2006 5:48:13 PM PDT by yellowdoghunter
I just heard on the John Gibson radio program that Tony Snow has been offered McClellan's job at the White House. He has not made a decision but will discuss it on his radio program tomorrow.
I didn't see this posted. Just posting what I heard. No link.

Looks like we have another bolton who has a clue of what needs to be done.
McClellan is a nice guy and with a resume line of WH press sec, he can go places. But, it is time for new blood.

Tony! You should SERIOUSLY consider this if it's TRUE. Your country needs you.

Snow can do it. He is a journalist and knows how to deal with them. He can think on his feet well, something that McClellan, though a great guy personally, can't do.
He will anticipate the questions and formulate good responses.
It would be a great opportunity. If I were him, I would take it. You don't get to work at the WH everyday, and it is a fairly high-up position. Of course, I believe he was a speechwriter, so he already has experience working at the WH, which is why he may turn it down.
If I were him, I would take it, regardless of the pay cut.

Wow, take the job Tony(assuming this is true). You can get back to the reporting afterward, but you will ALWAYS be remembered for that job and you're a much better communicator than Scott has ever been.

Tony: this administration is damaged goods and it's not coming back. If this was the start of the first Bush administration, I'd tell ya to go for it.
Now, forget it. Nothing but trouble, nasty press corps and an administration that continues to lose influence. It's not worth it.

Tony always talks about how he would massage and shape the WH communications strategy. He knows Washington. This WH needs someone who can highlight the successes of this administration and hold the MSM to the fire. He would only have to do it through the elections.
To: yellowdoghunter
Do it, Tony. O'Blowhard will be so jealous, seeing as he thinks GWB should hang on his every word.

"It would be a pay cut."
Not when you consider the royalities he would get for writing about the last 2 years of the Bush administration (as well as culling info from key players about the 1st 6 years)!

The rumors are flying that the Snow currently in office may be out of there soon. We will see what happens.
Replacing staff is a delicate move; you don't want to freak out the WH staff and cause anxiety, but changes need to be made.

Tony. If there's any truth to this rumor, I know you'll give it the consideration it deserves and make the decision that's right for you.
My personal opinion is you would be fantastic at the job and manage to put the press prima donna's in their place for a change
To: Tony Snow
If you take this job, and I hope you do, you may have to curtail or quit posting here. I hope not, but we'd still be proud to know you're lurking or posting under a different name. BTW, I'm sure there are many folks from this admin lurking and probably posting here. Good luck Tony.
