Blast Destroys Iraqi Police Station; Tip Leads Soldiers to Weapons
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, April 19, 2006 Terrorists blew up a new Iraqi police station under construction south of Baghdad yesterday, military officials reported.
The explosion caused half of the building to collapse.
Iraqi soldiers from 4th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division, secured the site after the blast to prevent further damage.
"Terrorists are attempting to prevent the rebuilding of the essential infrastructure," said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jonathan Withington, a Multinational Division Baghdad spokesman. "The police station is a sign of progress for the Iraqi people."
Iraqi authorities are investigating the blast.
In other news, a citizen's tip led Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers to a weapons cache south of Baghdad on April 17. Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, received the tip while on patrol.
The cache included eight 250- to 500-pound aerial bombs stored in a steel cage and ready to be transported. The soldiers contacted an explosive ordnance disposal team, which conducted a controlled detonation and destroyed the cache.
Earlier in the day, soldiers from MNDB's 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, discovered a cache while patrolling southwest of Baghdad. The cache consisted of two rocket-propelled-grenade launchers, 15 rocket-propelled grenades, a mortar tube, a 60 mm round, two green-star-cluster flares, and an Iraqi police vest.
The cache was turned over to an EOD team and rendered safe.

Real bad news in Afghanistan
Taliban regains control of much of country, Pakistan
In a report by Paul L. Williams, author of the new book, "Dunces of Doomsday," and David Dastych, one-eyed Mullah Omar and his army of radical Islamic students are currently in control of all of the rural and mountain areas of Afghanistan, including Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Zabul, Helmand, and Oruzgan, as well as a vast expanse of eastern and southern provinces including sections of Kandahar. They also have become the central governing body in South and North Qaziristan and other tribal territories of Pakistan.
I like WorldNetDaily, but I have to check other sources to verify that.

Muslim students 'being taught to despise unbelievers as filth'
Times OnLine ^ | 4/20/06 | Sean O'Neill
Posted on 04/19/2006 4:57:05 PM PDT by grandpa jones
MUSLIM students training to be imams at a British college with strong Iranian links have complained that they are being taught fundamentalist doctrines which describe nonMuslims as filth. The Times has obtained extracts from medieval texts taught to the students in which unbelievers are likened to pigs and dogs. The texts are taught at the Hawza Ilmiyya of London, a religious school, which has a sister institution, the Islamic College for Advanced Studies (ICAS), which offers a degree validated by Middlesex University.
The students, who have asked to remain anonymous, study their religious courses alongside the university-backed BA in Islamic studies. They spend two days a week as religious students and three days on their university course.
The Hawza Ilmiyya and the ICAS are in the same building at Willesden High Road, North London a former Church of England primary school and share many of the same teaching staff. ... The text is one of a number of books that some students say they find disturbing and very worrying. Their spokesman told The Times: They are being exposed to very literalist interpretations of the Koran. These are interpretations that would not be recognised by 80 or 90 per cent of Muslims, but they are being taught in this school.

Anger as 'honour killing' family try to adopt victim's son

The family of an ethnic Turkish German woman executed by her brother in an "honour killing" has sparked outrage by applying for custody of her young son.
A German family court will decide the future of the six-year-old son of Hatun Surucu, but politicians of all parties have called for the boy, currently with a foster family, not to be handed over to his dead mother's sister.
Miss Surucu, 23, was murdered in Berlin last February by her younger brother who shot her three times in the head in what the trial judge said was "an ice-cold execution-style murder - just because she lived her life."
Miss Surucu had been forced to marry a cousin in Turkey when she was 15. Later, she returned pregnant to Berlin, where she had been born, along with her nine brothers and sisters.
There she stopped wearing a headscarf, started training as an electrician and lived alone with her son, Can. She had relationships with men, including Germans, and wore make-up as well as going dancing, a lifestyle her Muslim family could not accept.
Her 20-year-old brother Ayhan Surucu admitted committing the murder when aged 18, and was sentenced to nine years and three months last week.

Snip: State police said the men drove up to the Beaver Valley Power Station in a tractor-trailer on Tuesday night to pick up two large containers of tools for a contractor for whom they worked. Security guards stopped the men for a routine inspection, but they drove away, police said.
The guards became suspicious and called police, who pulled the truck over about a mile from the plant. A state trooper got a warrant to search the vehicle and found a duffel bag, which he said contained $504,230 in mostly small bills.

But things have decayed badly. A federal study released Monday found that the state's EMS system has undergone such "dramatic deterioration" that it places Oregon residents at risk, and it called for "immediate, dramatic change."
Snip: The Egyptian government yesterday said it had arrested a group of 22 militant Islamists planning bomb attacks on tourist targets, a gas pipeline near Cairo and Muslim and Christian religious leaders. The Interior Ministry said in a statement the underground organisation called itself "Al Taefa Al Mansura" (Victorious Group)and had members in suburbs northeast and south of the capital.
"Information, documents and interviews ... confirmed that they were studying carrying out terrorist operations against tourist targets, the gas pipeline on the Greater Cairo ring road and some sensitive sites through bombings," it said. "They were also studying targeting some Muslim and Christian religious figures and ... what they called degenerate youth in tourist areas," it added.
Snip: On this particular day, five young males were tied to posts. Hundreds stood by, staring, some cheering. These males were stripped to their waists, backs ready for the torture. Security officers stood sternly, encircling the lawbreakers. Loud speakers blared out the names of the men, informing the populous of their offenses.
It was stated that these five men, having had some liquor, had flirted with girls in a park. This equals 80 whiplashes per male flesh, according to John Ward Anderson of The Washington Post. Public flogging is daily scenery for the Allah enthusiasts. Listening to CDs from the West could yield flesh torn by severe whip slices ripping the skin.

Snip: Immigration agents arrested seven executives and hundreds of employees of a manufacturer of crates and pallets Wednesday as part of a crackdown on employers of illegal workers.
Authorities raided offices and plants of IFCO Systems in at least eight states, the culmination of a yearlong criminal investigation, law enforcement officials said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested seven current and former IFCO Systems managers on charges they conspired to transport, harbor and encourage illegal workers to reside in the United States for commercial advantage and private financial gain, said Glenn T. Suddaby, the chief federal prosecutor in Albany, N.Y., where some arrests were made.
Snip: A Chinese national living in Southern California admitted on Wednesday trying to arrange the sale from China to the United States of 200 shoulder-fired missiles that can be used to bring down airplanes.

Simcox ultimatum to Bush: `Build fence or Minutemen will'
KVOA ^ | 4/19/2006 | none

TUCSON, Ariz. Minuteman border watch leader Chris Simcox has a message for President Bush -- build new security fencing along the border or private citizens will.
Simcox says he's also sending an ultimatum to the president to deploy military reserves and the National Guard to the Arizona border by May 25th, or Minuteman volunteers and supporters will break ground and start erecting fencing privately.
The Minuteman leader says a half-dozen landowners along the Arizona-Mexico border say they'll allow fencing to be placed on their borderlands.
Simcox says the border barrier-and-fencing complex would include a six-foot deep trench so a vehicle can't crash through.
Other features may include coiled, razor-edged barbed wire, in front of a 15-foot high heavy-gauge steel mesh fence angled outward at the top.

It must have been some truck.

Our World: Why is Muhammad Abu al-Hawa dead? Caroline Glick, THE JERUSALEM POST Apr. 18, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Muhammad Abu al-Hawa was a 42-year-old father of eight when he died last Wednesday night. As Israeli Jews were beginning our Pessah Seders and retelling the story of our exodus from Egypt and our rebirth as a free nation, Abu al-Hawa was being tortured by Fatah terrorists. As we ate our Seder meal, he was shot seven times. As we called out "Next year in Jerusalem," Abu al-Hawa's body and car were torched.
Abu al-Hawa was tortured and murdered because he stood accused of committing what the Palestinians consider a capital crime. Eight young children were orphaned last Wednesday night because their father allegedly sold an apartment building in Israel's capital city to Jews. The building in question is located in Jerusalem's A-Tur neighborhood, just above the Temple Mount on the Mount of Olives.
Muhammad Abu al-Hawa was buried in a makeshift cemetery on the road between Jerusalem where he lived, and Jericho where he was murdered. His body was buried there because the Palestinian Authority's mufti in Jerusalem, Ikremah Sabri, has barred all Muslims accused of selling land to Jews from being buried in a Muslim cemetery."
"'Gun Summit' Called Brainstorming Session on Gun Control"
By Melanie Hunter

April 19, 2006
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - A gun rights group said the upcoming "gun summit" planned by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is merely a chance for them to brainstorm on more ways to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said Wednesday that such a "gun grab" will only lead to more crime, because it will impede the ability of citizens to protect legally themselves.
"Rather than devising and suggesting more restrictions on the rights of law-abiding gun owners, these mayors need to recognize that urban violence is a symptom of deeper problems that their bankrupt social policies perpetuate," said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron in a press release."

Failed bureaucracy An Agency Rife With Fraud Would Administer Guest-worker Program
New American ^ | 4-19-06 | Parousia
Posted on 04/20/2006 1:39:06 AM EDT by parousia
As President Bush and his allies in the Senate push forward for amnesty for the 11-12 million illegal aliens already in the United States and for a guest-worker program that would bring in millions more "temporary" workers, they are withholding an important report that indicts the agency that would be processing the massive influx of aliens we would expect under the proposed programs.
An investigation by the (GAO) has found that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), the agency within the Department of Homeland Security in charge of adjudicating immigration benefits such as citizenship and permanent residency, is rife with fraud. The report has not been released, but a draft of the report obtained by the Washington Times says, "Adjudicators we spoke with said that management's focused attention on reducing the backlog placed additional pressure on them to process applications faster, thereby increasing the risk of making incorrect decisions, including approval of potentially fraudulent applications." The report says that fraud in some categories of visas is as high as 30 percent.
Sen.Grassley (R-Iowa), who has seen the report, told his colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 2: "Let's be realistic. Our government bureaucrats simply cannot implement a program for 11 million illegal aliens. You'd all be shocked if you learned about the internal fraud and abuse at the Citizenship and Immigration Service. I have been investigating the internal problems at CIS as well as their backlog of national security cases. The bureau doesn't have an effective practice for reviewing these cases. Officials are being bribed. Visas are being given away. Green cards are being sold. CIS is giving out interim benefits, which is a precursor for additional privileges.... And we want this agency to handle the program in an effective manner? That's unrealistic."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The day after I visited my niece in Tel Aviv, a young man named Sami Hamad blew himself up at a restaurant there. I had no particular reason to think my niece was anywhere near Mayor's Falafel at 1:30 p.m., but I called her anyway, just to make sure. She was on her way to a concert in Jerusalem.
Others calls that day resulted not in reassurance but in concern escalating to panic and culminating in grief. Hamad, who was from the West Bank village of al-Gharakah, killed nine people who were working in the restaurant, waiting in line for falafel or shwarma, or passing by when he detonated his bomb, including a 47-year-old security guard who stopped him at the entrance, a 29-year-old from Holon whose wife was about to give birth to their third child, and two foreign workers from Romania. The bomb injured about 70 people, including two children, a 60-year-old French tourist, and a 16-year-old American who was critically wounded."
