Joe Wilson: Clueless Liar--The Baghdad Bob of the American Left.
Slate | Frontpagemagazine ^ | April 19, 2006 | Christopher Hitchens

Posted on 04/19/2006 5:07:12 AM PDT by SJackson

Nobody appears to dispute what I wrote in last week's Slate to the effect that in February 1999, Saddam Hussein dispatched his former envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and former delegate to non-proliferation conferences at the United Nations, to Niger. Wissam al-Zahawie was, at the time of his visit, the accredited ambassador of Iraq to the Vatican: a more senior post than it may sound, given that the Vatican was almost the only full European embassy that Iraq then possessed. And nobody has proposed an answer to my question: Given the fact that Niger is synonymous with uranium (and was Iraq's source of "yellowcake" in 1981), and given that Zahawie had been Iraq's main man in nuclear diplomacy, what innocent explanation can be found for his trip?

The person whose response I most wanted is Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who has claimed to discover that Saddam was guiltless on the charge of seeking uranium from Niger, and has further claimed to be the object, along with his CIA wife, of a campaign of government persecution. On Keith Olbermann's show on April 10, Wilson was asked about my article and about Zahawie. He replied that Zahawie:

I'm glad that Hitchens is staying on Liar Wilson's case. Good article.

Yellow Cake? Of course the peaceful people of Iraq are not interested in weapons of massive destruction. That is a lie from the infidel Bush. Just ask your trustworthy Mr. Ambassador Wilson.

Chris Hitchens is a liberal, all right, but he lays it on the line about these Clintonista liars.

Clinton screwed up when he sicced Sidney Blumenthal on Hitchens and his wife to retail the "mad Monica" theory on the eve of the blue dress's turning up.

Can you believe it? Clinton is now five years out of office, and we are still raking cat litter over his stink.

More and more lumps just keep turning up.

the White House could do worse than hiring Hitchens as a consultant, especially in the PR department.

Raking cat litter over his stink "Clinton"
True, the stench in the air from Clinton and to be left with Hillterbeast there isn't enough cat litter to cover her mess.
I would also like to include in this group, Jimma Carter. It will be decades for his stench to dissipate.

"I'm glad that Hitchens is staying on Liar Wilson's case. Good article."

Me too. Hitchens will be thorough and relentless, exactly what is needed on this story.

Wilson saw the opportunity for fame and fortune that lying about the Bush admin would bring him. And he was right. Although now even some prominent libs are catching on to what a scoundrel he is, he is still regarded as a font of truth and an heroic "whistleblower" by most of the leftist media nitwits.

Why is Joe Wilson a Liar?

Joe Wilson
Joe Wilson is a tough political competitor. You have to respect him for that. As a foreign policy advisor to John Kerry, Wilson had a good chance of becoming Kerry's Secretary of State or some Deputy something-or-other of State. It's amazing how -- no matter how many times Wilson's pudgy pink face is in Vanity Fair -- no one acknowledges his political interests in discrediting the Bush Administration. But, that's a different issue.

Joe Wilson is also a liar. Under the cover of his wife's CIA assignment, Wilson was able to write one investigative report for the Agency -- which was secret -- and one for the op-ed page of the NYT - which was not so much so.

And never the twain shall meet...

NBC couldn't wait to dredge up Plame-gate tonight, as part of the "Scott McLellan Quits" story. By the way, on the latter, Yippeeeeee!
