Scott Savage, reference librarian for Ohio State University --- suggested four best-selling conservative books for freshman reading......and is being investigated by the university - for sexual harassment.
Three professors filed the discrimination and sexual harassment charges, saying the books Savage suggested -"The Marketing of Evil" by David Kupelian, "The Professors" by David Horowitz, "Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis" by Bat Ye'or and "It Takes a Family" by Senator Rick Santorum - made them feel "unsafe."
Savage contends he made the suggestions after other committee members recommended books with a left-wing slant. The school's faculty voted - without dissent - to allow the individual professors to file charges.

http://www.alliancedefensefund.org/news/story.aspx?cid=3724
On March 28, the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) sent OSU officials a letter informing them of Savages constitutional rights. A copy of the letter can be read at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/OSUMansfieldletter.pdf.
The university so far has declined to stop the investigation, saying in its response that it takes any allegation of sexual harassment seriously.
The OSU Mansfield faculty is attempting to label a librarian as a sexual harasser because they disagree with his book suggestions...... It is astonishing that an entire faculty would vote to launch a sexual harassment investigation because a librarian offered book suggestions in a committee whose purpose was to solicit such suggestions.

Three professors filed the discrimination and sexual harassment charges, saying the books Savage suggested...made them feel "unsafe." As I mentioned in an earlier post on this subject, hese professors should, indeed, feel unsafe if they are disciples of Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Herbert Marcuse, or Antonio Gramsci.

I could be in trouble. Yesterday, thanks to the efforts of yours truly, Horowitz's The Professors became available at the public library where I work as a reference librarian.
To: Liz
I bought the Marketing of Evil yesterday. So far it's very good. I guess their students are only supposed to read the classics like The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf.

This is one of the best things that could have happened to the recommended books. Now they will have more attention and more people will buy them - we owe the lefty profs a word of thanks.

We have known this was coming all along. Sexual harrassment rules were never about what is right and were always about politics. I remember my first training on SH 15 years ago. "Sexual harrassment is defined in the eyes of the harrassed." Huh? Excuse me? If she thinks she's harrassed, then she is?
But, gladly, the rest of the nation has caught on to this fraud, and the ACLU does not reign supreme anymore. The fact that the three profs claim to be harassed by the act is a sign of their desperation.

Psuedo-intellectual academic dipsh*ts who embrace postmodernism are trully amusing people. I spend quite a bit of time on a college campus and one of my hobbies, the subject comes up, is to walk these people into verbal pretzels as they try to defend the positions, tenets, and assumptions of postmodernism.
It's good fun.

The Marketing of Evil sounds like another good title to add to our library's circulating collection.

Congratulate you wife's cousin for me!
For the record, they do not feel unsafe, in fact they know full well there is NO safety issue. They feign not feeling safe, as a policical tool. IOW they lie, to stop students from seeing a book they know will tell the truth. Censorship big time.

Ping! - not about homeschooling, but something parents might want to know if they're considering Ohio U. for their kids...
(Reference librarian suggests conservative books to counteract left-leaning books there, and professors file discrimination and sexual harrassment charges against him).

I have been in a very long conversation with authors about
whether sexually inappropriate books should be moved out of the children's section of public libraries. In the context of that conversation, I made the following comments relevant to this Scott Savage story, and tell me if you agree:
Back in that cease and desist letter we see an exhibit, a letter from one professor Norman Jones. Jones wrote how the book Scott Savage recommended was anti-gay and homophobic tripe because the book contained the following quote: the widely revered father of the sexual revolution [Dr. Kinsey] has been irrefutably exposed as a full-fledged sexual psychopath who encouraged pedophilia.
Do you see how this insidious, devious attack works? No? Scott Savage never said word one, nothing, that was homophobic. Yet it is ascribed to him as if he said it. That having been done, he is then attacked for having said it. But he never did! Look closely at that quote again. Do you see anything, anything at all about homosexuals? I see psychopaths and pedophiles but no homosexuals. The professor made it up! Worse, the professor makes the logical connection between pedophiles and homosexuals!! This is blatantly wrong!! But he does it, then he says Scott Savage does it, then he accuses Scott Savage of being homophobic and anti-gay!
Now Im just one person. In all my experience I never heard of a homosexual pedophile. All the pedophiles I know in the news are heterosexual. Labeling homosexuals as pedophiles is not only factually wrong, but it is a common misconception about homosexuals that is used to attack them. And here, here we see a professor saying that a book about a psychopathic pedophile is homophobic. Its the professor himself that connects the pedophilia to the homophobia. Hes the offender here. Yet he ascribed this to the librarian, then attacks the librarian as if the librarian said this! Frankly, this appears to me to be a latent attack on homosexuals by OSU Professor Norman Jones.
